Bombino project is a small but powerful Skype plugin for creating Skype conferences on-demand via SMS.

After being installed, it acts as a server. It receives SMS-commands from a (remote) user, checks privileges, and creates the requested conference. It is possible to use Bombino to call a Skype user from an ordinary phone.

You want to call to the skype number and all you have is your GSM phone without Skype. Send an SMS-command to your Bombino with called skype number and wait for callback from Bombino. Note, it is not necessary to wait for callback on your mobile phone. You can request callback to any phone number you like. In this case you will pay for SkypeOut call to you.

You are in business trip and you want to make a conference with several colleagues, partners and/or customers, located all over the world. All you need is your GSM phone and Bombino installed in your office. Send an SMS-command to Bombino with skype and/or phone numbers of conference participants and wait for callback from Bombino.

You are travelling. Outgoing call from your GSM phone is too expensive. Incoming call is cheap. You want to call a phone number somewhere in the world. Send an SMS-command to Bombino and wait for callback from it. You will pay for incoming call to the cellular operator, and for two SkypeOut calls to the Skype. Note, it is not necessary to wait for callback on your mobile phone. You can request callback to any phone number you like (for example, to a PBX number in your hotel room).

Validity Indicators are updated continuously
- In response to many customer questions and requests, validity indicators (the little red/green boxes in the UI) are now updated on every keystroke. A widgets validity is always current; theres no need to tab out of a field or press Enter. (20021108)

Work around Java/Linux time zone problem
- On some versions of Linux, Java cant determine its time zone properly. Until Java is corrected, we work around this problem. (20021109)

LinesHelper can remove the noise lines from faxed documents.

Faxed documents often contain annoying horizontal lines due to communication noise on the telephone line. Scanned document in some cases, also have horizontal or vertical lines due to the banding or folding of papers. By utilizing LinesHelper these lines can automatically be removed.

The document structure analysis and character recognition are usually done in several phases:

scanning
thresholding
skew detection and correction
despeckle or speckle removal
line removal
border removal
detection of preprinted elements (like boxes)
page orientation detection and correction
layout analysis
classification
character recognition

Each step must be completed well enough for the performance of the sequence and result to be successful. Steps that follow the line removal are inefficient if the correction fails.

LinesHelper finds and removes horizontal and vertical lines and repairs overlapping text and graphics on binary images. The line removal filter can also be configured to reconstruct horizontal and vertical lines, redrawing them straight with smooth edges. LinesHelper expects as input a monochrome image.
