Corel PHOTO-PAINT is an application with a long history and one that I have used off and on for as many years. This latest Version 9 is not all that different in outward appearance and the included feature set than the previous Version 8, or even 7 for that matter.

However, using this new Version 9 was a much better experience because of what I can best describe as refinement. Before getting into how Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9 performed, let me first describe what the package contains and generally what it is designed to do. The name PHOTO-PAINT is about as broadly descriptive as you can get for such an image-editing product.

It has the tools, processes, and brushes that computer artists need for painting and digital photographers require to acquire images from scanners and digital cameras, color correct, manipulate, and incorporate in a publishable document containing not just photographic images, but graphic design elements and standard text and manipulated type fonts.

In addition to the main paint and image-editing application, Corel also includes Bitstream Font Navigator 3.0 to organize, view, and select fonts stored in your operating system. Vendetta Online is a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) from Guild Software Inc. In this game, thousands of people can play together, at the same time, in a single, persistent universe. Players take the form of spaceship pilots within this universe, flying to and fro between space stations and other locations in the galaxy. All combat within the game is fully realtime, based entirely on "twitch" skill (no "virtual dice rolling"). Players may fight one another, fight NPCs, participate in groups, and even engage in large-scale Guild combat.

As pilots in the Vendetta universe, the progression of the players character is up to each individual. The starting Nation affiliation gives the player certain benefits and liabilities that fit the particular culture of that Nation, but this merely serves as a starting point for the character. If the user wishes to be a peaceful trader, military pilot, guard for hire, dastardly pirate, or whatever the player imagines, this is all up to the behaviour and play style of the user. There are both lawful and lawless places in the universe, and many different factions (including a pirate faction) with differing motives and shifting alignments. The universe is never a completely "safe" place, but lawful authorities do not take kindly to combat within their populated areas, making those places safer than most. More lawless regions may prove more dangerous, but potentially yield lucrative possibilities for those who align themselves with the darker underbelly of society. The life of a criminal is difficult, however, and pirates are not well-loved in most of the populated galaxy.

Character progression takes place in the form of a variety of skills and other attributes, any combination of which can potentially open up new gameplay content (missions, ships, equipment, trade items, etc). General activity related to a skill can increase it (trading can increase the Commerce skill, etc), but taking on missions will generally increase skills that much faster. Missions are offered by particular factions, with mission difficulty and availability increasing as the character becomes better known to the faction. Rising in the esteem of a given faction can itself yield better item prices, a wider item selection, and access to unusual "special" equipment available only to those who have proven themselves worthy. It is possible to win many types of accolades and commendations from particular factions, all of which can help demonstrate the characters accomplishments. These and other character stats may be viewed by other users in a Character Information panel.

The ships themselves are highly customizable, with various different designs and addon modules making possible a wide range of equipment loadouts. In addition, users may configure the color of their individual craft. Various types of ships are specifically suited to a particular task (such as combat or trading), while others prove more flexible, depending on how they are configured by the pilot.

Vendetta Online launched in North America in late 2004. Since then, continuous full-time development has pushed the game still further, towards the intended goal of "version 2.0" in 2007. Patches, upgrades and releases are usually seen on a weekly basis, the game ever-increasing in complexity as Guild Software gets closer to their next milestone. The level of developer-userbase interaction is often considered one of the unique aspects of VO, with the core dev team posting and replying daily on the messageboard, and user-requested features often appearing in-game in a matter of days or weeks.

When you sent a mail from your computer at home, it still is visible in the same Sent Items folder in Outlook.
Outlook from outside the network
- U can login from your computer at home to the Zarafa server through a safe and fast solution. You can work like youre at work. This functionality can be used with Outlook2000, OutlookXP and Outlook2003.
PDA support
- You can synchronize your Outlook information with your PDA. This way, youll have your information always present, no matter where you are. Zarafa support ActiveSync and Hotsync. Therefor, you can use your iPaq or Palm handheld.
Offline Synchronisation
- When you temporarily do not have a connection to the internet, you can still work with your current Outlook information. When the internet connection returns, you can synchronise all the changes between the server and the client. All the mail you sent when you were off-line, will be sent when the connection to the server returns. Very convenient, especially when you travel a lot, and not always have access to the internet.
Storage
- To make the sharing of all the information possible, everything is stored in a central stable MySQL database. With this comes the great advantage of an easy to execute daily backup.
Enhancements:
- This release brings support for new distributions (Debian Etch and Ubuntu 6.06 LTS), a lot of new programs like a brick-level backup, mobile sync, basic ical support, an RHEL user manager, persistent search folders, and a lot of enhancements to the Web access.
