Volley Balley 1.6
Volley Balley is a nice simulation of the outdoor volley-ball game with Online Web Contest! more>>
Various skill levels, Great graphics, and just fun to play - what else one can desire?! Besides, you can take part in the Online Web Tournament between all players of Volley Balley regardless of the platform! Feel the mood of the Olympics!
Beach volleyball is always pleasant. Shining sun, emerald sea, summer vacations:The volleyballies that play this rather funny game will help the player to recollect the best moments of the summer vacations or to while away the time till the moment, when he will put his feet on the sea-coast and will play beach volleyball receiving a perfect suntan and ton of pleasure (including the one from recollecting our volleyballies).
The object of the game is for each player to send the ball regularly over the net to ground it on the opponents court, and to prevent the ball from being grounded on its own court. A point is added to the players score every time when the opponent drops the ball or hits it more then three times in a row.
In the game we used the sideout scoring system. A player wins a game by scoring 15 points with a two-point advantage - this is a classic scheme. We complicated it by the feature when the winner receives additional 1000 points for the points advantage, and if he won for less than 15 minutes, 10 points are added for every second left.
Smooth pseudo 3D animation, realistic physics and striking dynamism - these are the main features of this game. Several levels of difficulty will not let you get bored waiting for the beach season to come. Moreover, you have a possibility to grow professionally here : move from Novice to Expert and Master of Volley Balley.
The game runs on major Linux flavors (RedHat, Debian, Mandrake, SuSE, Slackware and others)

Transcribe! for Linux 7.50
Software to help transcribing recorded music. Slow down music. Analyze chords. more>> Transcribe! is an assistant for working out a piece of music from a recording. Transcribe! offers many features aimed at making the transcription job smoother and easier, including the ability to slow down the music without changing its pitch, and to analyse chords and show you what notes are present. Features: Depending on version, Transcribe! reads audio from many different types of audio file and audio CD. It displays the audio waveform and allows you to scroll around, place markers for sections, measures and beats, and easily play or loop from any point. You can also add textual annotations. Loops and positions can be stored and recalled. There are many keyboard shortcuts and you can configure these as you like. You can configure Transcribe! to respond to MIDI (not on Linux) so as to keep your hands free : start and stop playback with your feet! There is extensive and readable help accessible from within the program. The "spectrum" feature displays the strength of the various pitches in any chord or note you select, in the form of a graph - a wavy line over a piano keyboard graphic. The height of the various peaks in the graph indicate the strength of the note above which the peak appears. This is not a magic bullet for analysing chords but it can be a very useful source of information. Transcribe! offers various audio processing effects (Slowdown, Pitch Change, EQ filtering etc) intended to help with transcribing. These effects all run in "real time" unless your machine is old & slow download matlab for linux. This means there is no pre-processing or other waiting, the processing is performed on-the-fly while playing and you can instantly hear the effect of changes to EQ etc. For instance if you press the half-speed button while playing then playback simply continues, at half speed.<<less

Transcribe! 7.30
Transcribe! project is an assistant for people who sometimes want to work out a piece of music from a recording. more>>
The usual technique for doing this is to copy the music to cassette and then listen repeatedly to each bit, using your ear and your brain to work out what is happening. Unless you have perfect pitch then you also need a piano or a guitar handy to check out which note is which. However, if you copy the recording to your computers hard disk as a sound file then you can use Transcribe! instead of the cassette machine and the piano.
Transcribe! offers many features aimed at making the transcription job smoother and easier, including the ability to slow down music without changing its pitch, and to analyse chords and show you what notes are present.
It is important to understand that Transcribe! does not attempt to do the whole job, processing an audio file and outputting musical notation - this would be nice, but is a currently unsolved research problem. The spectrum analysis feature is very useful for working out those hard-to-hear chords, but you must still use your ear and brain to decide which of the peaks in the spectrum are notes being played, which are merely harmonics, and which are just the result of noise and broad-spectrum instruments such as drums.
If you have never worked out even a simple piece of music by ear then Transcribe! will probably not help you (see How to Transcribe), but if you do sometimes work out recorded music by ear then Transcribe! can make the job a lot quicker and easier.
Transcribe! takes no interest in MIDI files - these already contain explicit information about what notes are to be played and when, and there are plenty of programs available which can display this information. Transcribe! deals with audio sample data files.
Transcribe! plays and records audio files but it is not an audio editor. It is capable of applying various effects to audio such as speed change, pitch change and EQ. You can save the modified audio to a new sound file if you want.
Main features:
- Depending on version, Transcribe! reads audio from many different types of audio file and audio CD. It also has a "Record" facility for recording from analog sources such as cassette or vinyl. It displays the audio waveform and allows you to scroll around, place markers for sections, measures and beats, and easily play or loop from any point.
- Loops and positions can be stored and recalled. There are many keyboard shortcuts and you can configure these as you like (in version 7). You can configure Transcribe! to respond to pedals of various types so as to keep your hands free : start and stop playback with your feet!
- There is extensive and readable help accessible from within the program.
- The "spectrum" feature displays the strength of the various pitches in any chord or note you select, in the form of a graph - a wavy line over a piano keyboard graphic. The height of the various peaks in the graph indicate the strength of the note above which the peak appears. This is not a magic bullet for analysing chords but it can be a very useful source of information.
- Transcribe! offers various audio processing effects (Slowdown, Pitch Change, EQ filtering etc) intended to help with transcribing. These effects all run in "real time" unless your machine is old & slow. This means there is no pre-processing or other waiting, the processing is performed on-the-fly while playing and you can instantly hear the effect of changes to EQ etc. For instance if you press the half-speed button while playing then playback simply continues, at half speed.
Mono/Karaoke
- This effect allows you to mix the two channels of a stereo recording together in various ways including phase-reverse, commonly known as "karaoke" as it sometimes has the effect of removing the vocal (if the vocal is panned dead-centre).
EQ
- A powerful EQ filter.
Tuning
- Adjustment to playback pitch, in cents (hundredths of a semitone) for fine tuning and also larger shifts of up to two octaves, which can for instance be useful in hearing low, murky bass parts by raising them by an octave or two.
Transposition
- Special handling for those of you who play a transposing instrument such as trumpet or saxophone.
Speed
- Speed variable from one twentieth to double speed.
- Click here for an MP3 file (373 KB) demonstrating the sound quality of slowdown-without-pitch-change. It contains 7 seconds of a guitar solo played quite fast, followed by the same at half speed. This is what you get when you press Transcribe!s half-speed button (version 7.20). I havent bothered to give lots of samples, since you can download Transcribe! for a free trial period and try it yourself.
Flyer
- Sometimes people ask me for a printed information sheet about Transcribe!. I dont distribute printed materials but here is a single-sided information sheet as a pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file which you are welcome to download and print out.
DH: Lore Invasion 2.0.2
DH: Lore Invasion puts the player into the very mind of the most lethal war machines ever to engage combat in the war-torn Earth more>>
Can you lead your people to peace in a harsh universe where reflexes and nerves of steel are the touchstones of victory? Or will your enemy overpower you with superior resolve and unrelenting firepower? How will you write the Lore of the future?
History will remember your era as the turning point; after 150 years of uneasy peace, the stalemate has been broken and the Earth has once again plunged into a war that will decide the future of "No Mans Land"... once known as "North America". As the Federated States and Eastern Confederation clash once more, it will be you who enters the fray at its most intense and will lead your people to victory or oblivion. The year is 2155 and the war which will decide the fate of mankind is beginning, and your courage will write the lore of the future on the soil of battle.
This battle-zone is not the Earth as you remember it: Intense radiation makes it impossible for living things to set foot on the dried, crusted surface. Instead, factions deploy cybernetically-controlled Mechanized Assault Vehicles (MAVs) which can operate quickly and lethally while being linked to the very minds of the soldiers who control them from thousands of miles away. These vehicles of battle are so closely woven into the minds of their masters that every neural impulse is instantaneously transmitted to and from the warriors. They are one, the mind and the machine.
Some choose to fight for the technologically-advanced culture of the Federated States who inculcate justice for all and believe in the power of a balanced society. Others choose the way of the fist and adopt the savage warriors path that belongs to the Eastern Confederation where might makes right. As a MAV Warrior you will have to pull the trigger with no more than a split second of warning, but for whom will you fire your weapons and aim your cannons? Choose your allegiance and lead your faction to victory.
Main features:

Each class also has its own special weapons, designed to compliment that MAVs design and role on the battlefields, including mines for Scouts to drop in enemy territory or to protect objectives, Flame Throwers for close in Assault class combat, deployable turrets to help protect objectives, and Tank artillery from frontline aggressors.
- When working in a squad of fellow MAV Warriors, you can tailor your MAV designs to support each other in the fray of combat, playing the strengths of each model to create a well-rounded, powerful attack team.

Lugaru 1.0a
Lugaru is a third-person action game. more>>
Lugarus primary feature is its unique combat system. Instead of relying on confusing button combinations to perform moves, Lugarus moves are all logical and context sensitive. For example, if an opponent aims a roundhouse kick at Turners head, you can crouch and then stand up under the attack to grab your assailants leg and kick him away. If you try and punch an opponent and he tries to throw you over his shoulder, you can crouch to roll painlessly out of the throw. This new combat system makes fights look and feel much more intense and believable than in any other game. You can see it in action with the gameplay movies above.
However, if straight close-range combat with hands, knives, swords and staves is not your style, you can also use stealth, but you have to be smart about it. If you cut a wolfs throat, be sure to wipe the blood off your knife or another wolf might smell it. Enemy rabbits have very keen hearing, so be sure to walk quietly, and kill enemies before they make too much noise or run to alert their friends. Also, if they do bring their friends, dont expect them to stupidly take turns fighting you. It is not unusual for one enemy to sweep your feet out from under you and another to smash you while you fall.
Because of the emphasis on gameplay, the graphics are designed to let the game run as smoothly as possible. It should run at full speed at full detail on any system with a 700 mhz processor and Geforce 3 or better graphics card. It should run acceptably on any system with a 300 mhz processor and Rage 128 or better graphics card.
While models do not have as many polygons as in some new commercial games, there is an unprecedented amount of detail where it actually matters. If an enemy shatters his staff on your skull then your vision will unfocus slightly for a few seconds. Jumping through trees creates a shower of leaves (and snow if it is in a cold area).
Landing an especially solid blow to the head can spatter blood on the wall and knock out a couple teeth. If you throw a knife into a wolf, blood will drip down his fur as he yanks out the knife and uses it against you. It is even possible to smash enemies so hard into walls that the surface cracks. Motion blur makes fast movement easier to track.
Technical Features:
- Fast terrain engine with texture blending, footprints, and transparent fog
- Unique fast-paced combat system with weapons, attack reversals, and counter-reversals.
- Skeletal animation with rag-doll physics and hand and face expressions
- Motion blur and many other effects.
