podLoadr 1.0

podLoadr 1.0

podLoader allows you to load content from the Web or other desktop files onto your iPod. more>>
podLoader allows you to load content from the Web or other desktop files onto your iPod. Later, for example while traveling, you can check out news from any RSS feed, the weather, or the contents of any file from your desktop.
This application uses the "Notes" feature on third-generation or later touch wheel iPods.
Usage:
In Brief:
- Run podLoadr by double-clicking on podloadr.jar after installing the JRE (or run java -jar podloadr.jar from a command prompt)
- Drag & drop files or links onto the "Files & Links" tab. Browsing or manually typing the file name also works.
- Check some news feeds, add weather zip codes and create a notes on their respective tabs.
- Click the run button (ensure that the iPod is connected and enabled in disk mode).
In Detail:
- In order to load a web page or news feed simply do the following:
- Ensure that your iPod is enabled for disk use. To do this in iTunes:
- Select your iPod under Devices in the Source list.
- Click the Summary tab.
- In the Options section of the Summary pane, click the "Enable disk use" checkbox.
- Note that if the "Manually manage songs and playlists" option is enabled, "Enable disk use" is always enabled or turned on.
- Connect your iPod to your computer as you usually do.
- Exit iTunes - just to be safe.
- Ensure that you have a recent version of the Java runtime (either JDK or JRE) from Sun.
- Run podLoadr by double clicking on podLoadr.jar. Alternatively you can open a command prompt and type java -jar podLoadr.jar
- Note that podLoadr.jar itself can be stored on the ipod and run directly from there. Keep podLoadr.jar and podLoadr.ini together.
- Populate the various tabs in podLoadr.
- Add your custom items to the "Files & Links" tab. This can be done in any of the following ways.
- Drag a file from your desktop or Explorer onto the list
- Drag a link from Internet Explorer or Firefox onto the list (by grabbing the icon in the address box)
- Type the full name of a file in the Name box and click on add
- Click on "Add/Browse" and navigate to the file you need and add it to the list.
- Check off the news feeds that you want from the categorized list.
- Enter the ZIP codes of the weather you want separated by commas.
- Double check the ipod tab to ensure that the drive letter is correct. Or if you have multiple iPods then you can change this setting. (If thats too confusing feel free to send the other iPod my way :-)
To view the note, disconnect your iPod, scroll the menu to Extras, and select Notes. Choose the name the file you created and press the Center button to display the content of the file. You can.t edit the file using iPod, but you can delete it or update it whenever your iPod is connected to your computer.
podLoader uses the "Notes" feature of the iPod to support downloading and offline viewing of online content. Such presentations can be used, for example, as directed lessons or self-paced electronic guided tours. Notes is available on iPod models beginning with third-generation iPod (dock connector) models with the touch wheel.

Geo::Lookup::ByTime 0.0.2

Geo::Lookup::ByTime 0.0.2

Geo::Lookup::ByTime is a Perl module to lookup location by time. more>>
Geo::Lookup::ByTime is a Perl module to lookup location by time.

SYNOPSIS

use Geo::Lookup::ByTime;

$lookup = Geo::Lookup::ByTime->new( @points );
my $pt = $lookup->nearest( $tm );

Given a set of timestamped locations guess the location at a particular time. This is a useful operation for, e.g., adding location information to pictures based on their timestamp and a GPS trace that covers the same time period.

INTERFACE

new( [ points ] )

Create a new object optionally supplying a list of points. The points may be supplied as an array or as a reference to an array. Each point may be a reference to a hash containing at least the keys lat, lon and time or a reference to an object that supports accessor methods called latitude, longitude and time.

If a coderef is supplied it is assumed to be an iterator that may be called repeatedly to yield a set of points.

add_points( [ points ] )

Add points. The specification for what constitutes a point is the same as for new.

nearest( $time [ , $max_dist ] )

Return a hash indicating the estimated position at the specified time. The returned hash has lat, lon and time keys like this:

my $best = {
lat => 54.29344,
lon => -2.02393,
time => $time
};

Returns undef if the position cant be computed. By default a position will be calculated for any point that lies within the range of time covered by the reference points. Optionally $max_dist may be specified in which case undef will be returned if the closest real point is more than that many metres away from the computed point.
If the requested time coincides exactly with the timestamp of one of the points the returned point will be at the same location as the matching point. If the time falls between the timestamps of two points the returned point will be linearly interpolated from those two points.

In an array context returns a list containing the synthetic point at the specified time (i.e. the value that would be returned in scalar context), the closest real point and the distance between the two in metres

my ($best, $nearest, $dist) = $lookup->nearest( $tm );

get_points()

Return a reference to an array containing all the points in ascending time order.

time_range()

Return as a two element list the time range from earliest to latest of the points in the index. Returns undef if the index is empty.

hav_distance($pt, ...)

Exportable function. Computes the Haversine distance in metres along the line described by the points passed in. Points must be references to hashes with keys lat and lon.

XML::Code 0.04

XML::Code 0.04

XML::Diff is a Perl module for XML DOM-Tree based Diff & Patch Module. more>>
XML::Diff is a Perl module for XML DOM-Tree based Diff & Patch Module.

SYNOPSIS

my $diff = XML::Diff->new();

# to generate a diffgram of two XML files, use compare.
# $old and $new can be filepaths, XML as a string,
# XML::LibXML::Document or XML::LibXML::Element objects.
# The diffgram is a XML::LibXML::Document by default.
my $diffgram = $diff->compare(
-old => $old_xml,
-new => $new_xml,
);

# To patch an XML document, an patch. $old and $diffgram
# follow the same formatting rules as compare.
# The resulting XML is a XML::LibXML::Document by default.
my $patched = $diff->patch(
-old => $old,
-diffgram => $diffgram,
);

This module provides methods for generating and applying an XML diffgram of two related XML files. The basis of the algorithm is tree-wise comparison using the DOM model as provided by XML::LibXML.

The Diffgram is well-formed XML in the XVCS namespance and supports update, insert, delete and move operations. It is meant to be human and machine readable. It uses XPath expressions for locating the nodes to operate on.

Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup Perl Module 2.4

Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup Perl Module 2.4

Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup Perl Module provides a programmatic interface to United States Postal Service. more>>
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has on its web site an HTML form at http://www.usps.com/zip4/ for standardizing an address. Given a firm, urbanization, street address, city, state, and zip, it will put the address into standard form (provided the address is in their database) and display a page with the resulting address.
Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup Perl Module provides a programmatic interface to this service, so you can write a program to process your entire personal address book without having to manually type them all in to the form.
Because the USPS could change or remove this functionality at any time, be prepared for the possibility that this code may fail to function. In fact, as of this version, there is no error checking in place, so if they do change things, this code will most likely fail in a noisy way. If you discover that the service has changed, please email the author your findings.
If an error occurs in trying to standardize the address, then no array will be returned. Otherwise, a four-element array will be returned.
To see debugging output, call $zlu->verbose(1).
SYNOPSIS
#!/usr/bin/perl
use Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup::Address;
use Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup;
my $addr = Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup::Address->new(
Focus Research, Inc., # Firm
, # Urbanization
8080 Beckett Center Drive Suite 203, # Delivery Address
West Chester, # City
OH, # State
45069-5001 # ZIP Code
);
my $zlu = Scrape::USPS::ZipLookup->new();
my @matches = $zlu->std_addr($addr);
if (@matches) {
printf "n%d matches:n", scalar(@matches);
foreach my $match (@matches) {

print $match->to_string;
print "n";
}
print "-" x 39, "n";
}
else {
print "No matches!n";
}
exit 0;
Enhancements:
- Adapt to yet another round of changes to the USPS Zip Lookup web site, courtesy of Eric Parker.
- Copyright date updates.

Code::Perl 0.03

Code::Perl 0.03

Code::Perl is a Perl module to produce Perl code from a tree. more>>
Code::Perl is a Perl module to produce Perl code from a tree.

SYNOPSIS

use Code::Perl::Expr qw( :easy );

my $c = derefh(scal(hash), calls(getkey));

print $c->perl; # ($hash)->{getkey()}

Code::Perl allows you to build chunks of Perl code as a tree and then when youre finished building, the tree can output the Perl code. This is useful if you have built your own mini-language and you want to generate Perl from it. Rather than generating the Perl at parse time and having to worry about quoting, escaping, parenthese etc, you can just build a tree using Code::Perl and then dump out the correct Perl at the end.
