Session Directory Tool 3.0
Session Directory Tool provides a multicast session directory manager. more>>
Session Directory Tool provides a multicast session directory manager.
SDR is a session directory tool designed to allow the advertisement and joining of multicast conferences on the Mbone. It was originally modelled on sd written by Van Jacobson at LBNL, but implements a later version of the session description protocol than sd does.
SDR was originally written under the MICE and MERCI projects at UCL by Mark Handley who now works for ISI. SDR will continue to be maintained on a limited basis as part of the infrastructure for conferencing on the CAIRN testbed network and the EC MECCANO project.
Many many fixes and improvements to SDR have been contributed by Bill Fenner and Van Jacobson. Security features were implemented by Edmund Whelan and Goli Montasser-Kohsari at UCL.
Enhancements:
- new application media type for session directories
- fixed byte ordering of headers on intel machines
- fixed IP6 address allocation for unix IP6 stacks
- Authentication and encryption code fixed to allow for extra space for IPv6 addresses
- Added IPv6 flags to configure scripts "--enable-ipv6"

Site Editor 0.5
Site Editor is a CGI script which allows a user to manage their web space without needing ftp access. more>>
Site Editor is a CGI script which allows a user to manage their web space without needing ftp access.
With only a web browser you can browse your web space, edit text files, upload files, and create and remove directories. Site Editor also has ZIP support making it easy to grab an entire directory tree.
Site Editor is completely functional but is missing some features and polish which would make it easier to use. Currently it requires access control to be handled by the web server. On top of this the code is a little raw, hence this is not a 1.0 release.
To configure for your system the "site_editor" script needs to be modified slightly. In the "Config" section edit the following variables:
$BASE_DIR Root directory for editing files.
$BASE_URL Web location for $BASE_DIR files. Can be relative or absolute.
$TITLE Title prefix to be used for each page.
$ICON_URL Location of icons. It may be relative or absolute.
$ZIP The full path to your Info-ZIP binary. Comment to disable.
I have included a simple patch to Apaches suexec which will allow the script to be root owned. With suexec and the script owned by root the user wont be able to modify the scripts configuration but will still be able to create and modify their own files.
Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

LibQtPod 0.3 RC1
LibQtPod provides access to the contents of an Apple iPod. more>>
LibQtPod provides access to the contents of an Apple iPod. The code was formerly part of the kio ipodslave, but is now a separate Qt-based library.
LibQtPod library features reading and writing of the iTunesDB music database and provides access to hardware specific information like disc space statistics.
Main features:
- Reading/Writing the iTunesDB Music database
- access to hardware specific information like disc space statistics
Bugs/noticable problems:
- please report any problem you encounter with the software to the sourceforge project page at http://sourceforge.net/projects/kpod
- Since podcasts and smart playlists are unsupported at the moment youll lose them when synchronizing the database.
Installation:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `qmake to configure the package for your system and to create the Makefiles. qmake can be found in the bin directory of your Qt installation. You may have to add the directory to your PATH before running it.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.
Whats New in 0.2 Stable Release:
- This version contains lots of fixes and code cleanups.
- On the functional side, this release adds playlist sorting by setting one of the predefined sort order criteria and a new track(list) search implementation with user definable predicates.
- Browsing while on the go was speeded up by writing out type 52 MHODs; this may also result in smaller gaps between songs.
Whats New in 0.3 RC1 Development Release:
- Documentation fixes
- added trackNumber to ITunesDB::findTrack and TrackPredicated::ByFullInfo
- changed ITunesDB::findFirstTrackBy() and ::getTracksBy() to use a reference instead of a pointer to the predicate
- implemented Smart Playlists
- fixed DBID generation
- fixed ordering artists with a "The" in the name
- create backup copies for all DB files when writing
- implemented ipod initialization for pristine devices
- lots of small fixes - code + design
- builds with gcc-4.1

RIG (Random Identity Generator) 1.11
RIG is a program I wrote to replace a particularly poor closed-source unattributed public-domain implementation for MS-DOS. more>>
RIG is a program I wrote to replace a particularly poor closed-source unattributed public-domain implementation for MS-DOS. Essentially it gathers random selections of first and last names, location data, and street names, to assemble a fake name and address, complete with geographically consistant ZIP code, area code, state, and city name.
My implementation of fake is GPL, however its database belongs to whoever wrote the original implementation, or if that person remains unknown then I suppose it lies in the public domain. If you feel uncomfortable with this then please provide a new database. It shouldnt be too hard to create a new one.
Install should be pretty easy, just type "make install". If your system dosent
have /dev/urandom and youd like to use /dev/random instead, do
make install CFLAGS=-DDEVRANDOM
Enhancements:
- Fix compilation on some platforms. Thanks to many people for noticing these problems.
- Fix problems with the -m and -f options. Thanks to Casey Carter noticing this problem, and to the Debian developers (notably Norbert Veber and Aaron Lehmann ) for proposing a fix.
- Add an entry for Coward, SC.
- Make Biloxi area and ZIP codes match the same physical spot. Thanks to Chris Lawrence for noticing this.

Mr Commander 0.1a-preview6
Mr Commander is a file manager that behaves like Total Commander on MS Windows. more>>
Mr Commander is a file manager based on GTK+ 2.0. It behaves like the Total Commander program, which is available on MS Windows.
It features SMB and FTP support.
Installation
The `configure shell script attempts to guess correct values for various system-dependent variables used during compilation. It uses those values to create a `Makefile in each directory of the package. It may also create one or more `.h files containing system-dependent definitions. Finally, it creates a shell script `config.status that you can run in the future to recreate the current configuration, and a file `config.log containing compiler output (useful mainly for debugging `configure).
It can also use an optional file (typically called `config.cache and enabled with `--cache-file=config.cache or simply `-C) that saves the results of its tests to speed up reconfiguring. (Caching is disabled by default to prevent problems with accidental use of stale cache files.)
If you need to do unusual things to compile the package, please try to figure out how `configure could check whether to do them, and mail diffs or instructions to the address given in the `README so they can be considered for the next release. If you are using the cache, and at some point `config.cache contains results you dont want to keep, you may remove or edit it.
The file `configure.ac (or `configure.in) is used to create `configure by a program called `autoconf. You only need `configure.ac if you want to change it or regenerate `configure using a newer version of `autoconf.
Compilers and Options
Some systems require unusual options for compilation or linking that the `configure script does not know about. Run `./configure --help for details on some of the pertinent environment variables.
You can give `configure initial values for configuration parameters by setting variables in the command line or in the environment.
Here is an example:
./configure CC=c89 CFLAGS=-O2 LIBS=-lposix
*Note Defining Variables::, for more details.
Compiling For Multiple Architectures
You can compile the package for more than one kind of computer at the same time, by placing the object files for each architecture in their own directory. To do this, you must use a version of `make that supports the `VPATH variable, such as GNU `make. `cd to the directory where you want the object files and executables to go and run the `configure script. `configure automatically checks for the source code in the directory that `configure is in and in `...
If you have to use a `make that does not support the `VPATH variable, you have to compile the package for one architecture at a time in the source code directory. After you have installed the package for one architecture, use `make distclean before reconfiguring
for another architecture.
Installation names
By default, `make install will install the packages files in `/usr/local/bin, `/usr/local/man, etc. You can specify an installation prefix other than `/usr/local by giving `configure the
option `--prefix=PATH.
You can specify separate installation prefixes for architecture-specific files and architecture-independent files. If you give `configure the option `--exec-prefix=PATH, the package will use PATH as the prefix for installing programs and libraries.
Documentation and other data files will still use the regular prefix.
In addition, if you use an unusual directory layout you can give options like `--bindir=PATH to specify different values for particular kinds of files. Run `configure --help for a list of the directories you can set and what kinds of files go in them.
If the package supports it, you can cause programs to be installed with an extra prefix or suffix on their names by giving `configure the option `--program-prefix=PREFIX or `--program-suffix=SUFFIX.
