myGuests is a guestbook written in PHP. It uses a simple textfile as storage, there is no need for a database server like mysql to use it. Ive started to develop myGuests in the year 2002 when database servers were only affordable for business applications. Using a simple textfile as storage made it possible for many people to install their own guestbook very easy.
Today I look back to three years of developing PHP applications for business use. I apologize for not releasing new open source projects in the past years, maybe there will be new things in the next months.

readlists in short rl, is a frontend for mailers like mutt to handle multiple mailboxes more conveniently.

A few years ago (in 1998) I started to use ELM (and later mutt) along with several mailfolders. I wanted to have a little program that acted as a front-end to mutt to make reading of multiple mailboxes easier.

The result was readlists, or rl as I shortly afterwards abbreviated it. Last year, when we upgraded out mail server to FreeBSD 5.4, we decided not to install ELM anymore, which left a void as this package also provided the command nfrm. Since rl already contained all the code needed for such a command, this was added, as well.

rdsd is a library for the development of software for receive, decode, and display RDS (Radio Data System) data transmitted by analog radio stations. Data includes station name, time, radio text, or traffic messages (TMC). As the latter is used by car navigation systems, RDS will exist for several more years, despite the growing importance of digital radio.

The API for the reception of RDS data is described in the V4L2 specifications since several years. But only since the saa6588 module appears in kernel 2.6.14, the use of the RDS interface is actually possible.

In this project, the whole chain of software was planned and developed: With the saa6588 kernel module, the daemon rdsd, the client library librds, and the user application rdsquery, all necessary components are available now.

The project demonstrates pretty well the possibilities of Linux and OpenSource. A client-server sytem that receives RDS data from several radio cards and distributes them to several clients has never been available as free software before. Such a system becomes only possible through a driver concept like the Video4Linux-API. In this form, it is only possible under Linux.

The Radio Data System Daemon is a daemon that reads raw RDS data from one or more input sources, decodes it, and serves the results to clients that can connect via TCP/IP or a unix domain socket.

OpenTaxSolver (OTS) project is a free program for calculating Tax Form entries and tax-owed or refund-due, such as Federal or State personal income taxes.
An optional graphical front-end, OTS_GUI, has been added. Currently, TaxSolver has been updated for the 2005 tax-year for the following forms: US 1040 and Schedules A, B, C, & D.
As well as for California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania State Taxes for 2005 tax-year, thanks to contributors. Updates for the following additional states are expected to be posted soon: North Carolina, New York, Ohio, and Virginia. Preliminary versions for Canada and the United Kingdom were posted in previous years and may be updated with help from volunteers.
Motivations:
- To make tax preparation software available for all platforms.
- To provide insight into how our taxes are calculated in clear unambiguous equations/code.
- To avoid invasive, bloated commercial software packages.
- To avoid rewriting our own individual programs each year by combining efforts.
- To provide a simple reliable tax-package requiring only rudimentary knowledge to maintain.
Enhancements:
- Automatic phone credit was added to US1040.
- It will automatically calculate standard one-time phone credit, if not otherwise specified on US1040 line 71.
- The NJ State form F line 5 was fixed.

DarkerIRC is a small chat application you can put on your website, allowing you to communicate with the visitors of your website. It can be used for online communities allowing their members to communicate realtime.

halfscan6 is an IPv6 syn port scanner. Now that people can set up IPv6-over-IPv4 tunnels they dont always treat the outside IPv6 as untrusted. An since more and more OSs enable normal services to listen to IPv6 ports as well as IPv4, the firewall can sometimes be
completely bypassed.

A normal synscan program is also included, but its just an old cleanen up one that I had laying around, and you should use nmap for normal IPv4 portscanning. The ipv4-scanner may or may not work on you bigendian system.

Secure your IPv6 boxes, because I have a feeling people will use this in the coming years.

SharpConstruct project is a 3D modeling program designed to paint depth on to polygon models in real-time. Unlike traditional modeling programs, SharpConstruct makes it easy to quickly model organic shapes.
There is no need to even look at a wireframe (unless you want to). Instead, the model is manipulated much like clay -- push or pull an area, smooth it, make a hollow or a hill.
The entire process is both simple and organic; you wont need years of modelling experience to create detailed models in SharpConstruct.
SharpConstruct is licensed under the GNU General Public License; all the libraries it uses are also Free Software.
