Xr3 is package of Linux tools for the RedRat2 serial port based Learning IR Remote Control. It was initially developed for use with a ReplayTV Personal Video Recorder(PVR) but has now been expanded to handle any kind of IR controlled A/V equipment. The package includes:

mr3 - A Control Panel Driver using the Motif Toolkit
gr3 - A Control Panel Driver using Gtk
p2rr - A Pronto to RedRat2 IR record converter
rrDecode - A RedRat2 IR record decoder
testRedRat - A very simple RedRat2 test program
tvChannelSelector - A simple TV channel selector using nice icons
mkTVchannelSelector - A tool to help make TV channel panels for above.

A separate ReplayTV package will include:
replaySearch - A command line tool for driving the ReplayTV search engine.
replaySearchTool - A GUI designed to make searching for shows easy and intuative.

Xapwrap provides an improved interface to the Xapian text indexing library (see Xapian for more information).
Xapwrap provides a layered approach offering ample opportunities for customization.

Marble is an early beta preview of the Marble Widget application which is targeted for KDE 4.
You need to install both packages: "marble" and "marble-data" to run Marble.
Marble is a generic geographical map widget that is meant to be used by KDE4 applications. It shows the earth as a sphere but doesnt make use of any hardware acceleration (No OpenGL). So although it might look similar to professional applications like Google Earth or Nasa World Wind its rather meant to be a small light weight multi purpose widget. To improve speed I decided to compile the Kubuntu packages with SSE support (-msse).
Main features:
- Marble uses a minimal free dataset that can be used offline. Currently the total amount of data that is meant to be shipped is about 5 MB.
- Marble doesnt use OpenGL or 3D hardware acceleration. It just uses Arthur as a painting backend. Extending it later on to support OpenGL as well shouldnt be hard however I dont consider that the primary focus. Depending on your hardware and the maps being displayed framerate is approximately 5-20 fps.
- Marble uses vector as well as bitmap data: Currently it uses the very old MWDB II data combined with ETOPO 2, which I will update to current SRTM soon.
- Marble displays the world map as a 3D sphere, because its more fun to use and less subject to distortion (So with regard to that its just like NASA WorldWind, Earth3D and Google Earth)
- Marble should start up almost instantly. Currently it "cold" starts fully within 2-5 seconds. On each subsequent start it takes about one second.
- Uses KML-Import to display places (Google Earths open format to store placemarks)
- Cities Down to 12000 inhabitants that you can click on using the mouse. Highest Mountains of each continent. Automatic Placemark label placement.
- Different Map Themes, Layers
- Dynamic Coordinate Grid
- Measure Tool
- Basic Wikipedia integration

This will only work on hosts that actually let you connect, if you are blocked by an ACL, this wont work.

Guten is a tool for browsing, retrieving, reading, and managing electronic books published by Project Gutenberg. It provides an interface for reading books that allows bookmarks to be added to text.

Books can be imported from files that have already been downloaded, or through a simple interface that browses and downloads files from a PG mirror.

A Python module that automates the retrieval of catalogues and books from a PG mirror is also provided.

This program is simply a LIRC based file navigator. It can be controlled by the mouse or LIRC and can execute the program for specific file extensions.
Great for people with a collection of media files and a LIRC enabled player like mplayer and, of cource, a working install or LIRC and your favorite IR remote.

LIRC Commands:
- up_dir - Moves up the directory tree.
- select
- If a directory is selected it changes into that directory.
- If a file with a known extention is selected, the program specified is executed.
- All other files, or special files are ignored.
- up - Moves the selection one option up.
- down - Moves the selection one option down.
- page_up - Moves the selection a page of options up. The number it moves depends on the windows size.
- page_down - Moves the selection a page of options down. The number it moves depends on the windows size.
- mount - Calls mount with the currently selected file (must be listed in fstab to work). *See README for more detail.
- umount - Calls umount with the currently selected file (must be listed in fstab to work). See README for more detail.
- mount - Calls eject with the currently selected file (must be listed in fstab and you must have eject installed for this to work). *See README for more detail.

KDing is a KDE frontend for Ding, a dictionary lookup program. It is a simple program sitting in KDEs system tray that can translate the current clipboard content. The user can also enter a word which is then translated using Ding.

KDing is intended to translate between German and English, but as it uses Ding to do the actual translation it can be used for every language for which a word list is available for Ding.

KBiof project is an OpenGL screensaver for KDE.
This is a KDE port, rewrite & rearrangement of original BIOF XScreenSaver. This is an OPENGL screensaver. It depends by libGL & libGLU libraries. These libraries are normally installed into all linux distros.
Please note that the performance of the OpenGL screensavers depends by your graphic card power and its correct installation (please configure the right Xorg driver for your card).
Available for download: sources and precompiled binaries package for Felinux distro (also Slackware 11).
Installation:
open konsole
type "su" and type your root password
type "installpkg kbiof-0.1-i486-1.tgz"
All done.
KBiof screen saver is now accessible by open Desktop configuration -> ScreenSavers -> OpenGL Note: this package is also compatible with Slackware Linux 11.
Compiling KBiof sources:
KBiof sources, provided here must be compiled to works on your system. Please, start with archive decompression, then open konsole and go into the directory. Here type:
./configure
make
make install (as root)
All done.
KBiof screen saver is now accessible by open Desktop configuration -> ScreenSavers -> OpenGL
Enhancements:
- now it is possible to change the rendering color of Triangles, Spheres and BigSpheres object.
