Above XMMS plug-in is based on this reference player which has been implemented because hardly any FC player available on PC (and not even on AMIGA) manages to play back all modules without flaws (if at all). On PC, I dont know any.
With other implementations, there is always at least one song that reveals a minor or major bug during playback. If that would happen with this particular implementation, it would be very easy to fix the source code, whereas it would be very difficult to fix an emulated MC680x0 machine code binary-only player.
However, please dont submit any damaged files or the well-known FC modules like Astaroth or Chambers of Shaolin which contain several independent sub-songs and must not be played from beginning till end. Those sub-songs ought to be initialized and played separately. Prepared versions of these individual sub-songs have been made available for download on this page further below. Feel free to delete your old all-in-one version of Astaroth. It is to be used in the original game only.

It can play ripped CD audio tracks with the readcdda utility. Its very useful when you need check mixed type (.wav and .cdr) audio files before recording them on a CD-R (by utilities like cdrdao or cdrecord).

The raw cdr (ripped from a CDROM) files doesnt contain any header. They have always 44100 samples/sec, 16 bit, 2 channels, big endian order (MSBL LSBL, MSBR LSBR). This file type is detected only by a .cdr extention. If xmms find a *.cdr file and this file is not a .cdr raw audio file, then youll get noise and/or it may damage
your hi-fi speakers if volume is loud.

Wmconfig is a free tool for creating menu entries for various X window managers. Wmconfig uses a very simple configuration and it is fast and small.
A special toolkit (Gtk or Qt / KDE) is not required and the menu entries may be edited with the text editor of your choice.
The goal is to provide an independent tool without patching any sources. A graphical menu editor and support for more window managers will come soon.
Before new versions are released, they are tested for some time under production systems.
Wmconfig and this site are published under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Please note: The samples are included in the source archive and no longer needed for Version 1.1.7 and above.
