PerlPanel is an attempt to build a useable, lean panel program (like the Gnome Panel or the KDE Kicker) in Perl, using the Gtk2-Perl libraries.

PerlPanel is the ideal accompaniment to a light-weight Window Manager such as OpenBox, or a desktop-drawing program like iDesk. Click here to see all three working together.

Most of PerlPanels features are provided by applets - simple widgets that each do a different job. PerlPanel currently ships with 36 different applets.

RSS Panel is a Firefox extension that displays RSS directly from originating website.

This extension auto discovers an associated RSS feed for the current site, if available. It then puts a floating panel in the left upper corner of the browser window, which can be expanded to view all links from the RSS index.

The panel can also be dragged and closed.

Foopanel is a powerful desktop panel that enables you to have all that you want just one-click-far. It is extensible through Plugins and fully themeable.

Foopanel differs from the XFCEs panel (and also by the GNOME panel) because: it is written in Python, a great and powerful interpreted language that make it very easy to write plugins: these do not need any particular compilation or installation, they are plain text files that must be placed in the right directory.

Nothing more to do. Its appearence can easily be customized, by using a theme of those available or by writing a custom one.

Xfce 4 Cpufreq Plugin shows in the Xfce Panel the following, chooseable informations:
- current CPU frequency
- current used governor
In a seperate dialog it provides you following informations of all available informations:
- all available CPU frequencies
- all available governors
- used driver for the cpu
Usage:
Using the plugin is quite simple. You select the cpu which you want to monitor in the Xfce Panel. Next thing you could change is the timeout interval how often the informations have to be updated. A good value is 1,0 which means 100 ms.
You can also specify which informations should be displayed in the panel.

Flash Operator Panel is a switchboard type application for the Asterisk PBX. It runs on a web browser with the flash plugin.
It is able to display information about your PBX activity in real time. The layout is configurable (button sizes and colors, icons, etc). You can have more than 100 buttons active per screen. On the Live Demo there are 28 buttons defined.
It also supports contexts: you can have one server running and many different client displays (for hosted PBX, different departments, etc). It can integrate with CRM software, by poping up a web page (and passing the CLID) when a specified button is ringing.

- It has two parts: a server writen in PERL, and the flash client. It was tested and its known to work under Windows, Mac and Linux browsers.

Xfce 4 Taskbar Plugin is a taskbar plugin for the panel. The size of the taskbar can be changed via the properties dialog. It includes an “expand the panel to fill the screen” feature.

Usage:

This plugin works as any taskbar, showing you the running applications. You can show, hide or close any application on right clicking on his icon on the plugin. He also have the ability to group tasks from the same application and can be expanded in order to take all the available space on the screen.

Ops Control Panel is a frontend for MRTG.

Unlike many other frontends, it does not have any requirements beyond those of MRTG, although it can support PHP-enabled Web servers instead of just running as a Perl CGI script.
