Xfce 4 Battery Plugin is a battery monitor panel plugin for Xfce4, written by Nick Penwarden and Edscott Wilson Garcia, compatible with APM and ACPI, for Linux and *BSD.
Usage:
- Compile or install xfce4-battery-plugin
- Right-click the panel > Add New Items
- Add the Battery Monitor
- Right-click plugin > Properties for the properties dialog

Xfce 4 Timer Plugin is a simple plugin that lets the user run an alarm at a specified time or at the end of a specified countdown period.

Usage:

The plugin is quite simple – it displays a progressbar showing the percentage of the time elapsed. Left-clicking on the plugin area opens a menu of available alarms. After selecting one, the user can start or stop the timer by selecting “start/stop timer” entry in the same menu.

New alarms are added through the preferences window. Each alarm is either a countdown or is run at a specified time. By default a simple dialog pops up at the end of the countdown. The user can choose an external command to be run as the alarm and may also choose to have this repeated a specified number of times with a given interval between repetitions.

Xfce 4 Xkb Plugin displays the current keyboard layout, and refreshes when layout changes. Also the layout can be switched by simply clicking on the plugin. The new version can display the layout as text label and also as an image of the corresponding country’s flag. If the flag image is unavailable then the plugin falls back to displaying text label for that layout.

This plugin is used along with the XKB extension. For now the keyboard layouts cannot be configured from the plugin itself, they should be set in the XF86Config file or some other way (e.g. setxkbmap).

Usage:

Once the plugin is added to a panel, it displays the current keyboard layout. When clicked, it switches the layout to the next configured.

There are two display modes - image and text. The image mode will show the keyboard layout as a country flag. The text mode will display the two-letter country code (such as ‘US’ or ‘RU’).

There are also two modes of operation - store layout globally and store layout per application. When the layout is stored per application, a default layout should be selected. The default layout is set for newly launched applications.

Xfce 4 Taskbar Plugin is a taskbar plugin for the panel. The size of the taskbar can be changed via the properties dialog. It includes an “expand the panel to fill the screen” feature.

Usage:

This plugin works as any taskbar, showing you the running applications. You can show, hide or close any application on right clicking on his icon on the plugin. He also have the ability to group tasks from the same application and can be expanded in order to take all the available space on the screen.

Xfce 4 Dict Plugin can help you query a dictionary server(see RFC 2229) to search for the translation or explanation of a word. You can also choose a dictionary offered by the server to improve your search results.
Usage:
- Compile and install the dict package
- Right-click the Xfce panel > Add New Item > Dict
There are two special dictionaries:
- - use this dictionary to search in all available dictionaries on the server
! - use this dictionary to search in all available dictionaries on the server but stop searching after the first match.
You can also easily select a word in an email or on a webpage and drag it onto the dict icon in your panel, then the plugin begins to search and shows you the results.
