XStow 0.5.1
XStow is a replacement of GNU Stow written in C++. more>>
XStow is a replacement of GNU Stow written in C++. It supports all features of Stow with some extensions.
XStow as GNU Stow, are programs for managing the installation of software packages, keeping them separate (/usr/local/stow/emacs vs. /usr/local/stow/perl, for example) while making them appear to be installed in the same place (/usr/local).
Stow requires Perl. But whats on systems where no Perl is available, or not yet installed? I tried compiling Stow with perlcc, but it failed.
For compiling XStow a C++ compiler and a system with a couple of POSIX functions is required. It does not depend on an interpreter. Static compilation eg.: for resque disks is possible.
XStow installs packages in exact the same way like stow, so you even can start a Linux From Scratch installation with XStow and when Perl is running, you can continue installation by using GNU Stow.
Even the command line options are compatible.
Main features:
- Creation of symlinks with absolute path names.
- Traversal link support. (create a link from /usr/share/man to /usr/man)
- Multiple stow directories support.
- Shell pattern matching.
- Regular Expressions Support.
- Global settings via configuration files.
- Automatically merging GNU-Infos dir files.

xmlroff 0.5.1
xmlroff is a fast, free, high-quality, multi-platform XSL formatter. more>>
xmlroff is a fast, free, high-quality, multi-platform XSL formatter.
xmlroff is an open source XSL formatter that uses only open source libraries. xmlroff is written in C and it produces PDF and PostScript using libgnomeprint.
xmlroff creates formatted output -- pages containing text in a variety of type styles and sizes -- from an input XML document and an XSL stylesheet (which is also XML). This processing model is defined in the XSL Recommendation [XSL] that was developed by the W3C.
xmlroff is a command line program, but the bulk of the XSL formatting is implemented as a libfo library that can be linked with any program that requires XSL formatting capability. xmlroff also has a Java Native Interface (JNI) for calling the formatter from your Java program.
Enhancements:
- The source code directories were reorganized.
- The CVS/RCS keywords were removed, since Subversion is now used.
- A compilation error when GNOME Print is not installed was fixed.
- Segfaults when media-usage is not "paginate" were fixed.

Gournal 0.5.1
Gournal is a notepad application for Tablet PCs. more>>
Gournal is a note-taking application written for usage on Tablet-PCs (such as the Toshiba M200). Its designed for usage with a stylus, not a mouse or keyboard.
It does not have handwriting recognition but can be used in co-ordination with xstroke to accept text. Gournal is written in perl using gtk2-perl so you will need gtk2-perl along with the gladexml and gnomecanvas modules of gtk2-perl.
The pages are saved as gzipped SVG files (not totally standard yet but working on it). This is my first attempt and I have never used any M$ tablet applications (deleted Win before first boot) so I dont have any idea what features are good/needed.
Gournal looks/works just like a physical notebook with multiple pages. To save memory/speed load time it only loads pages when they are viewed so the app will not run much slower if you have 1 or 100 pages. Each page is named according to when it was created. The pages are saved as gzipped SVG files. Gournal has the following tools:
< Multiple sections >
Fine/Normal/Medium/Think Pens
Eraser
Highliter
Typed Text
Time-stamp
Zoom
Infinite undo/redo
Delete entire strokes
Networkable pages
< Insert Images >
< Load a file as the background >
Enhancements:
- Support for printing the pages and files changed from .svg.gz to .svgz for compatiability with standards

rdup 0.5.1
rdup is a utility inspired by rsync and the plan9 way of doing backups. rdup itself does not backup anything. more>>
rdup is a utility inspired by rsync and the plan9 way of doing backups. rdup itself does not backup anything. rdup project only prints a list of files that are changed, or all files in case of a null dump, to standard output.
rdup prints a filelist to standard output. This list is relative to FILELIST. Subsequent programs in a pipe line can be used to actually implement to backup scheme. If FILELIST is empty or non existant all files in DIR are dumped.
This is the same as a null dump. After a run a new FILELIST is written. No warning is given when FILELIST is an existing file, it just gets overwritten by rdup. New runs will print out only those files that have actually changed since the last run, thereby making incremental backups possible.
Files are checked for changes by comparing the m_time (modification time), if this time is NEWER than the m_time of FILELIST the pathname is printed to standard output. All errors are written to standard error.
The general idea is to be very unix like and create a bunch of simple programs which each do a their specific thing very well. With rdup and a small shell script (50 lines) one can implement encrypted and compressed backups.
Enhancements:
- A race condition with growing files and remote backups was fixed.

camserv 0.5.1
camserv is a streaming webcam server for Video4Linux with filters. more>>
Camserv is a free program to do streaming video through the web.
Streaming video can be sent to both Netscape and Internet Explorer clients. However, Internet Explorer under Windows cannot apparently handle the multi-part JPEGs, and therefore a special javascript page must be setup. One is included in the distribution as an example.
So far the hauppage TV cards have been tested, so have the black and white quickcams, and the old colour quickcams. For use with the Hauppage TV cards, one doesnt need any camera as they can use the other channels on the card to stream TV or whatever is being inputted.
The camserv program now comes with a relay program which will allow you to offload webservers ... effectively mirroring your webcam! It will also allow you to broadcast your camera even from your masqueraded machines, or server hundreds of people from your meager 28.8!
Enhancements:
- Incorporate patches from Barak Pearlmutter , which cleaned up code, made things more portable, etc.
- Also fixed up the build to work with newer versions of AutoMake
- Included patch from Walter Haidinger (walter.haidinger@gmx.at) which fixes up support for YUV420P based v4l devices (such as the Philips camera)

XPde 0.5.1
XPde is a Windows XP-like desktop environment for Linux. more>>
XPde is a complete desktop environment for Linux on x86. It tries to make easier for Windows XP users to use a Linux box.
Nothing more, no clipboard compatibility between Gtk and Qt applications, no emulation of Windows applications, no unification on the widgets of X applications, just a desktop environment.
Enhancements:
- The desktop now fully uses PNG+Alpha channel, so you can use the icons of your choice anywhere
- The icon theme has been updated to the latest crystal svg, but not all icons are included, just the needed ones
- The used font now is Bitstream vera, which looks very similar to tahoma
- Now, Im using QTheme from Andreas Hausladen: http://mitglied.lycos.de/AndreasHausladen/Delphi/Kylix/CLXPatches/unitcomp.html#QThemed
- Still some work to do on this field.
- The desktop now is a XPShellListView control, that means that is based on the XPListView control will be used to build the explorer and that uses the XPDirectoryMonitor, a component that maintain an update list of files from a directory and it gets notified about changes without polling or using FAM
- The desktop now repaints significantly faster, I have spent most of the time optimizing the code to make it work faster in lower resources machines
- The taskbar is also completely new, is built using bitmaps, as you can see in the shot and can be themed very easily
- The window manager is mostly new, it also allows you to use themes, including rounded window frames.

rest2web 0.5.1
rest2web is a tool for automatically maintaining Web sites or parts of Web sites. more>>
rest2web is a tool for autogenerating wesites, or parts of websites. The content can be stored as HTML, or in reST format; in which case the HTML will be generated using docutils. rest2web will insert the contents into templates, and automatically create index pages and navigation links.
This means that adding new pages is as easy as dropping a text file into the right folder. rest2web will handle building the new page and adding a link to it in the index.
Removing a page is as easy as deleting a single file, and have rest2web automatically rebuild the indexes. rest2web has standard functions to build a sidebar, with links to the other pages in the directory, or to the other sections in the website.
rest2web has another advantage, a website can be easily restyled by only changing template files. It is likely that only a few template files will be needed for most websites.
By using templates and uservalues you can conveniently use rest2web to create several versions of a website in different languages.
Simply create the framework once with your uservalues as place markers - then create your files with different translations. rest2web will build the website and can handle linking hte sites together.
Enhancements:
- Some extra debugging information was added to syntax errors in the templates. odict and pathutils were fixed for Python 2.5 compatibility.
- Added the promote_headers option to the config file.
- The sortpages method was added to the sections.
- This sorts the pages in a section (or all sections) alphabetically.
- You can also pass in a custom sort function.
