XBoard project is a X and Windows graphical chessboard.
XBoard is a graphical chessboard for X that can serve as a user interface for GNU Chess, Crafty, other chess engines, and the Internet Chess Servers.
XBoard can also be used by itself to read and write game files in PGN (portable game notation). WinBoard is a port of XBoard to Microsoft Win32.
You can build xboard on most systems with the following commands.

Enhancements:
- Version 4.2.7 corrects about two dozen bugs in the 4.2.6 release.
- In addition, WinBoard 4.2.7 comes bundled with GNU Chess 5.07 instead of the old 5.02+ version.
- The XBoard and WinBoard source code trees have been merged, so the xboard download now contains the complete source for both.

Autoplay project connects two xboard/winboard protocol complaint chess engines and lets them play against each other. The result will be logged in a easily parseable logfile and after the result of the game is known, a specific exit-code is returned (0=white won, 1=black won, etc).

XU4 is a remake of the computer game Ultima IV. The goal is to make it easy and convenient to play this classic on modern operating systems.

XU4 is primarily inspired by the much more ambitious project Exult. Linux is the primary development platform but it gets ported to Windows and MacOS X regularly. It should be trivial to port to any system with SDL support.

XU4 isnt a new game based on the Ultima IV story it is a faithful recreation of the old game, right up to the crappy graphics.

If you are looking for a game with modern gameplay and graphics, this is not it yet. New features that improve the gameplay and keep with the spirit of the original game will be added.

XU4 also tries to maintain strict compatibility with the original for its savegame files. You can use a game saved in XU4 with the original and vice versa, at least in theory.

Polidori is a DVD Authoring System for Gnome and Linux.
Instead of trying to re-invent the wheel in several areas, it instead integrates several excellent tools like dvdauthor, dvdrtools, ogle, etc., already available for Linux, and bundled with most distributions.
At this time, there are no visual DVD authoring tools available for Linux, compared to the vast amount of similar tools available on Windows and Macintosh. The pieces are all available in Linux, they just need to be integrated into something easier to use.

Polidori is named after Dr. John Polidori, a writer of early 19th Century Gothic fiction. Many scholars feel that Dr. Polidori created the genre of vampire fiction with his short story The Vampyre (1819). This story marks the first time a vampire is portrayed as an aristocratic and romantic character, as seen in later vampire characters like Count Dracula and Lestat de Lioncourt. Why name a software application after this author?
Because the name sounded cool and distinctive.
