Horde Vacation H3 3.0.1

Horde Vacation H3 3.0.1

Vacation is a Horde module for managing user e-mail vacation notices or auto-responders. more>>
Vacation is a Horde module for managing user e-mail "auto-responders" or "vacation notices". It works via a local vacation program which must be installed and functioning on the server. It supports vacation programs using the .forward-style forwarding mechanism supported by several popular mailers.

Right now, Vacation provides fairly complete support for managing .forward style vacation notices on Sendmail or Courier mail based systems via an FTP transport. It also has some support for LDAP, Qmail, and Exim SQL based servers.

Vacation is part of a suite of account management modules for Horde consisting of Accounts, Forwards, Passwd, and Vacation.

Linux Vacation 1.2.6.1

Linux Vacation 1.2.6.1

Linux vacation is a automatic mail-answering program. more>>
Linux VacationLinux vacation is a automatic mail-answering program. This is my vacation port to Linux. It is derived from the vacation program found on agate.berkeley.edu in the 386bsd directory on Nov 16, 1993. The original program was written by Eric Allman in 1983 and is copyrighted by the Regents of the UCB. The copyright disclaimer is valid for this distribution as well, i.e. this version is provided `as is, and I shall not be liable for any damage, data loss or earthquakes in the bay area.

Version 1.1 was a security-patched version. The former version 1.0 had a bad security bug which Olaf Kirch reported to the CERT mailing list (after giving me a hint :-). Please DO NOT LONGER USE vacation-1.0!

As far as Copyrights are concerned, the original parts of vacation are under the BSD copyright whereas I place my changed under the GPL (see file COPYING in the directory).

I tried to make this port look just like the version found with SunOS 4.1.x. There are minor differences, it resembles more the Sun version than the original 386bsd source.

Unpack the package as follows

mkdir -p /usr/src # if not already present :-)
chdir /usr/src
gzip -dc /vacation-1.1.tgz | tar xpvf -

A simple `make install (install-aout is no longer supported as of version 1.2) should install binary in /usr/bin and the manpages in /usr/man/man*, respectively. If you choose different directories, edit the Makefile.

Vacation 1.1.8

Vacation 1.1.8

Vacation is a mail auto-responder (for when you are on vacation and such), written in Perl. more>>
Vacation is a mail auto-responder (for when you are on vacation and such), written in Perl.
Vacation is loosely based on the vacation program by Larry Wall and Tom Christiansen.
I decided to write a new vacation clone since I could not find a version that would work reliably under Red Hat Linux 6.0. I finally found the old Perl version by Larry Wall and Tom Christiansen -- it was the most full-featured, and it almost worked. So, I decided to rewrite it. You may find the original version as "vacation.orig" in this distribution.
Since then, several others have released similar implementations and updates to vacation. While there is no longer a gap to fill, this version still provides a few unique features, flexibility, and portability.
You may also find a simpler auto-responder script in this distribution called mail-responder.pl. This precursor to vacation may be more appropriate at the system level (e.g., called from the aliases file) as compared to vacation which is designed for individual users.
Enhancements:
- Added a Vacation tag to From: addresses
- Added a routine to properly generate date headers (long overdue!) Thanks to Milivoj Ivkovic for the example
- Added a flag to only respond to specified senders Thanks to Jeff Chan for the feature request
- Improved parsing of From: addresses Thanks to Mark Haidl
- Added $RECIPIENT and $SENDER tokens Thanks to Wayne Fathers for the feature request

FreeWERM 1.0.8b

FreeWERM 1.0.8b

FreeWERM is an easy-to-use software system for creating, maintaining, and reporting on employee profiles for any sort of busines more>>
FreeWERM (short for "Free Web-based Employee Reporting Module") is an easy-to-use software system for creating, maintaining, and reporting on employee profiles for any sort of business. It has a time clock feature similar to other pieces of software currently on SourceForge, but FreeWERM is also much more than that. FreeWERM stores all employees that have worked for a company, along with their personal information, hours worked, company-defined payroll departments, and even user accounts.

It runs on Linux-based operating systems (I used Ubuntu) and uses PHP, Perl, and some light JavaScript, along with a MySQL database to store its information. It was developed by me to help my companys HR department deal with the problems of managing and reporting for an employee roster with several hundred names on it and an extremely high turnover rate (i.e. telemarketing firm), although it works just as well for a company with 10 employees.

FreeWERM stores personal information (name, address, phone, etc), but it also keeps track of individual Human Resources-related data for each employee, such as how many days absent (and what kind of absence - vacation, sick, bereavement), salary information, and FreeWERM is also capable of keeping track of which employees have been hired, fired, and re-hired by the same company and on what date(s). Also, whenever an employee is added to FreeWERMs database or when an existing employees profile is modified, FreeWERM creates a PDF document version of the new/updated employees profile. The employees data can be used to generate HR reports - users can create reports showing new hires or new terminations for a certain department for a certain date range, or reports can be generated that show payroll information, to name a few. FreeWERM is even capable of creating PDF documents containing employee names and addresses in a format suitable for printing to sheets of label stickers for envelopes.

The most-often used feature of FreeWERM is the time clock. Its a very simple interface that only requires the employee to enter in their unique employee ID number (which is assigned at the time the employee is entered into the system). If the employee is not clocked in, the system clocks them in under the department listed on their profile. If the employee is already clocked in, they are clocked out and the information for the shift they worked is then stored in a table of time clock records. FreeWERM can take these records and make complete, organized Excel spreadsheets that not only display hours worked by employees, but also can calculate how much money the employee is owed for the hours worked.

FreeWERM can be used to create user accounts so only certain employees can use the module. There are over a dozen different privileges that can be granted to users, from manually inserting time clock records for employees to allowing the user to grant/modify permissions to other users. User privileges can also be refined to the point where users may only be allowed access to records/employees belonging to specific payroll departments. Also, FreeWERM logs user activity to a special access_log table in its MySQL database. Any changes, additions, or removal of information through FreeWERM is stored along with the date and time of the action and ID number of the user who performed it.

Yet Another Autoresponder 0.3.1

Yet Another Autoresponder 0.3.1

Yet Another Autoresponder (yaa) is an email (vacation) autoresponder. more>>
Yet Another Autoresponder (yaa) is an email (vacation) autoresponder that is able to fetch autoresponse data from various sources, using separate plugins for each source type.
Yes, i wrote yet another mail autoresponder daemon. Why? Becouse i was looking for mail autoresponder daemon, which would be easily extendable and would work with Postfix virtual delivery daemon virtual(8). Unfortunatly i was not able to find something like that on the internet, thats why I wrote it in Perl.
Main features:
- Fetches autoresponder data (subject, message, etc...) using plugins
- Currently developed plugins: SQL, LDAP, DB_File, BerkeleyDB, PCRE, STATIC
- It can forward entire original message to the per-recipient custom tunable email address
- Doesnt respond to mailing list posts and posts, that could couse autoresponder deadlock.
- Autoresponse messages can be in any charset.
- Single, all-in-one configuration file
- Can act as SMTP or LMTP server in daemon mode

ComputeMode 1.5

ComputeMode 1.5

ComputeMode is a system that builds a Virtual HPC Cluster using idle intranet resources. more>>
ComputeMode project is an Icatis product that extends an organizations Computational Grid through aggregation of unused computing resources.
For instance, ComputeMode lets a virtual cluster to be built using employees PCs at their idle times. Practically most PCs in large companies are not used at night, on weekends, and during employee vacations, training periods or business trips.
So ComputeMode allows you to take the benefits of the powerful computation infrastructure you already have, but you are not aware of!
Another interesting use of ComputeMode is within computer classrooms, where PCs can be automatically harnessed into a virtual cluster when they are not being used (night, week-ends, holidays).
ComputeMode relies on a ComputeMode Server that keeps track of the availability of some dedicated PCs on the local network. Each PC Owner has a weekly availability Schedule, identifying periods when he or she is not using his/her PC. For instance, a PC owner can declare working periods from 8:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday.
In the remainder of this document, we will refer to PCs handled by ComputeMode as Processing Nodes.
The ComputeMode Administrator can easily manage the computing PCs through a Web-based interface, accessed through the ComputeMode Server.
A Grid User can submit some computational Jobs to the system through the use of a classical Batch Manager (also called "Job Management System", "Distributed Resource Managers", or "Queuing System").
The Grid User can log onto the Batch Manager from any machine of the local network (usually through the "ssh" secure shell). The Batch Manager will then reserve appropriate resources for the computations, Schedule the execution of the Jobs depending on the overall load on the Computing Grid and allocate Jobs to available computing resources.
The OAR Batch Manager is installed by default with ComputeMode, even though other products such as Platform LSF, OpenPBS or Sun Grid Engine are supported by ComputeMode.
ComputeMode can monitor the load on the Batch Manager, and detect overloads. In such cases it can allocate available Processing Nodes to computational tasks.
Each Processing Node has two different operating modes:
- The User Mode, in which the machine is working in its standard way under Microsoft Windows for instance. The Owner of the machine will not even notice that his or her PC is managed as a ComputeMode Processing Node. In particular, the computational resources of the PC will not be used while in User Mode.
- The Computation Mode (this is where the name of our product comes from) is activated when the machine is in a time period where the PC is declared as "idle". In case the ComputeMode Server detects some computational peak, the PC can be remotely switched to Computation Mode. The switch from user mode is done through an automatic reboot of the machine and proceeds to a remote boot. The remote boot is handled by the ComputeMode Server with the "Preboot eXecution Environment" (PXE) protocol, which is natively available from the BIOS of PCs since 1999. While in Computation Mode, the machine is running under the Linux Operating System, and does not have any access to any local hard disk.
When the ComputeMode Server detects that some given Processing Node is no longer available for computation, it restores the machine back to its User Mode, so that the Owner will not even notice that his or her PC has been used by ComputeMode.
The submitted Jobs can take advantage of the NFS distributed file system, which is made available from the ComputeMode Server. Each Grid User has his or her own private directory and can use it for data required by the computational Jobs, as well as to retrieve the produced output files.
A specific case may happen if a PC Owner comes back and needs his or her PC while a computational Job is being processed. This can happen, for instance, if the Owner has an urgent need and comes back at night to work on his/her PC. In such a situation, the owner always has priority over the machine. Just by using the keyboard, the Owner can abort any ongoing computational activity on his/her PC, and ComputeMode will restore the machine to its User Mode in about one minute.
Enhancements:
- UI usability improvements, code cleanup, and fixes were made.
- The client and server system were upgraded.
- New, simpler node import/export was added.
- It is available as a virtual appliance.

archive2iso 1.0

archive2iso 1.0

archive2iso application takes a directory tree and randomizes the files in the tree to stripe the files across several ISO files more>>
archive2iso application takes a directory tree and randomizes the files in the tree to stripe the files across several ISO files that can be archived or burned off to a CD.

The intended use is to stripe files across multiple CD/DVD randomly so if one disc is damaged all the images that were in the same directory will not be lost since files are spread across multiple disks. The actual files themselves are not split, all files remain in their original state.

An example of an intended use is where you have a series of valuable vacation photos that could span 6 CD for all your photos in your collection. archive2iso would spread them out across the 6 CDs so if 1 of the 6 cds is lost, you only loose 1/6th of your images. Which is better than loosing all of them!

SYNTAX: ./archive2iso

EXAMPLE:

Enter Directory: /absolute/path - Files to archive = 910 - Estimated total Size = 632 MBEnter Max megabyte Size for the ISO/CD/DVD (1-4700): 100 - Estimated Num Disks = 7 /usr/tmp/disk_1.iso - 139 files at 99.6 MB /usr/tmp/disk_2.iso - 128 files at 99.8 MB /usr/tmp/disk_3.iso - 144 files at 99.9 MB /usr/tmp/disk_4.iso - 164 files at 99.7 MB /usr/tmp/disk_5.iso - 136 files at 99.9 MB /usr/tmp/disk_6.iso - 159 files at 99.9 MB /usr/tmp/disk_7.iso - 40 files at 32.8 MB Is the above disk configuration okay?Answer y or n: yNOTE: If the Disks do not look balanced then answer "n" and it will re-randomize. - Building ISO images

Image Cluster 0.1

Image Cluster 0.1

Image Cluster copies and renames images based on Exif data and file number names. more>>
Image Cluster copies and renames images based on Exif data and file number names. Image Cluster also clusters those images into directories based on a variable sliding window (with a default of 36 hours), which makes it easy to group images based on events without manual intervention.

The inspiration for this program came from recently getting a new Canon SD500 camera to replace my Canon S30 that Id had for years. The upside, the Canon SD500 rocks! The downside, I now have 2 cameras that are burning through the same sequence numbers, so my previous solution of just putting all the files in to directories by the first 2 digits of the sequence numbers was no longer going to work.

Imagecluster solves this problem, plus another grouping problem that Id been thinking about, by extracting the CreateDate and FileNumber exif tags from the images, and using that as the basis of a new filename (typically YYYY:mm:dd_HH:MM:SS_FileNumber.jpg). This ensures that 2 images taken at the same second have an even smaller chance of colliding, as their camera sequence numbers would have to also be the same at that second.

But that is just the first step. I have noticed that I am an occational photographer, so take pictures in bursts, often for a weekend of hanging out with folks, though sometimes for a vacation as well. This got me thinking. What I really needed is a tool that also creates directories that allows for some minimum tollerance between CreateDate, that is used to cluster images. For me, the optimum value seems to be 36 hours, though this is configurable via the command line.

This took me an afternoon to pull together, Im sure it could be smarter, but it is useful enough to post for others to use.

Options:

-d directory
Set the target directory for images. Defaults to /tmp/photos, which is probably not what you want.

-D
Dryrun. Tells you what the program would have done.

-h
Print out help message

-s
Seperator character. It defaults to : (i.e. 2005:10:09...), but is user configurable because my friend Clemens wants to use - (i.e. 2005-10-09) instead.

-t
Set the tollerance for image clustering. This is the maximum time between any 2 pictures in a cluster, which will cause a new cluster to be created. The name of the cluster will be YYYY:MM:DD of the first image in the cluster, even if it spans multiple days. Because this tollerance is the maximum time between any two images in the cluster, it is possible that all images you have ever taken could be in 1 cluster, if you took a picture every day of your life. Hence, this feature isnt useful to everyone. If you are that kind of person, set tollerance to 16 hours or something, and youll tend to get 1 day sized buckets.

-v
Prints verbose output
