watchdog 5.4

watchdog 5.4

Watchdog is a daemon that checks if your system is still working. more>>
Watchdog application is a daemon that checks if your system is still working. If programs in user space are not longer executed it will reboot the system. However, this will not always work.
The Linux kernel can reset the system if serious problems are detected. This can be implemented via special watchdog hardware, or via a slightly less reliable software-only watchdog inside the kernel.
Either way, there needs to be a daemon that tells the kernel the system is working fine. If the daemon stops doing that, the system is reset. watchdog is such a daemon. It opens /dev/watchdog, and keeps writing to it often enough to keep the kernel from resetting, at least once per minute.
Each write delays the reboot time another minute. After a minute the watchdog hardware will cause the reset. In the case of a software watchdog, the ability to reboot will depend on the state of the machines and interrupts.
Enhancements:
- Added "another-chance" repair script written by Erik Rossen
- Applied some changes to RedHat init script.
- Added sysconf script for RedHat.
- Made wd_keepalive honor config file option.
- Added wd_keealive manpage.
- Made wd_keepalive not start without a watchdog device.
- Fixed some typos in watchdog manpage.
- Updated Debian files.

ControlTier 3.0

ControlTier 3.0

ControlTier application aims to be a complete enterprise-ready automation solution. more>>
ControlTier application aims to be a complete enterprise-ready automation solution. It is our goal to provide the tools needed to automate the build, release, deployment, configuration, and control of distributed, multi-tier applications. When it comes to ease of use and out of the box functionality, we havent met all of our goals yet but we are working hard to do so. Any comments, questions, or criticisms are always welcome.
ControlTier coordinates and automates the chain of events that take place when you build and deploy a collection of integrated applications (what we call a "site").
Youll use ControlTier to:
- Coordinate your build processes (interfaces with build tools like Ant)
- Manage your build artifacts and other deployable resources in a structured repository
- Coordinate the distribution, configuration, and control of the various applications that makeup a site
Unlike most automation solutions that are focused exclusively on hardware and OS provisioning in production environments, ControlTier was built to focus on the application build and deployment processes that run all the way from Development, through QA, and into Production.
Main features:
- Framework for sequencing and coordinating automation
- Configuration management database
- Logical remote management (manage lots of things as one logical unit, no matter where they physically reside)
- GUI based development and operations tools
- Improved reuse and componentization of your existing scripts and configurations
- Change detection and configuration validation
- Application status discovery and detection
- Fine-grain access control
- Release migration tools
- Logging (with environment context built-in)
- Reporting and correlation tools
- Cross-platform support (Linux, Solaris, Windows, Mac OS X, etc.)
Enhancements:
- This is a major upgrade of both the ControlTier automation framework as well as the pre-built automation modules and workflows that come with the framework.

Smart Sign 0.0.1

Smart Sign 0.0.1

This project currently provides a set of modules that enable the use of smartcard based authentication. more>>
This project provides software suitable for smartcard based digital signature and both local and remote authentication security services. It can also be used to integrate smart card technology into a working Certification Authority that issues public key certificates for the users through the web.

For example, we provide a module that is known to work with the OpenCA Certification Authority for on-board keypair generation.

Our software works with different kinds of smart cards. Actually we have modules that work with Schlumberger Cyberflex Access 16K and Cryptoflex 16K smart cards and any Java Card 2.1.1 compliant smart card (i.e. both Schlumberger Cyberflex Access 32K and Gemplus GemXpresso 211/PK).

Our software has been developed and tested with Towitokos CHIPDRIVE and Schlumbergers Reflex 72 card readers. It is known to work fine with Gemplus GCR410, GCR400FD, GemPC and Microsystems SCM readers too.

Here are some of its functionalities:

automatic storing of private key and public certificate on the smartcard during the interaction with OpenCA for the "certification process"
use of smartcard to sign e-mail and e-news from within Netscape Messenger
use of smartcard to sign/verify every kind of file with a simple shell command
smartcard-based authentication of local users to a system by means of a public key authentication protocol
smartcard-based authentication of remote users to a system by means of a smart card enabled OpenSSH
interactive command line browsing and invoking of all supported card commands for Cyberflex cards (ISO 7816 compliant and not)

Quake2Forge 0.5.5

Quake2Forge 0.5.5

Quake2Forge project is a portable, stable Quake II engine. more>>
Quake2Forge project is a portable, stable Quake II engine.
Quake2Forge is a portable, stable Quake II engine maintaining backward-compatibility with id Softwares version.
QuakeForge is a 3D graphics game engine based on id Softwares legendary Quake and QuakeWorld game engine. Our purpose? To improve the state of the game by improving the engine and making it accessable to the largest number of players we can.
Arguably the single most important issue on the minds of players today is the rampant cheating which is currently happening on many of the larger servers. Its a serious problem and it really makes a good game hard to find. Were working hard to fix these problems at the engine level.
But what good is that if you have to have a copy of our client and the server has to run our server? There are other projects out there and some of them have very unique qualities. QuakeForge is cooperating with QSG, a group comprised of representatives from nearly every known Quake source project to ensure that our clients and servers run with other clients and servers just fine. We have all agreed to implement any effective cheat prevention methods.
Other things were doing include merging the two code trees, adding features, and improving the OpenGL renderer. And QuakeForge is still the most portable source tree based on the id Software code.
Enhancements:
- bring back a bunch of fixes from 0.5.3 (including news items) that got lost in the rushed release of 0.5.4
- more cvar renaming: scr_consize -> con_size, scr_conspeed -> con_speed, gl_conalpha -> con_alpha, vid_conwidth -> con_width, vid_conheight -> con_height, show_fps -> hud_fps, show_ping
- demo_speed no longer affects console scrolling or cursor blink rate
- save game loading fixed
- QNX fixes from Mike Gorchak
- server clients work with mvds

Docker 1.5

Docker 1.5

Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. more>>
Docker is a docking application (WindowMaker dock app) which acts as a system tray for KDE and GNOME2. Docker can be used to replace the panel in either environment, allowing you to have a system tray w ithout running the KDE/GNOME panel or environment.

I wrote and designed Docker to work with Openbox 2, but it should work fine in any window manager that supports WindowMaker dock apps.

If you running WindowMaker or otherwise and experiencing problems, you should try using the -wmaker option to make docker keep a fixed size.

Docker requires a KDE3 compliant window manager to handle KDE3 system tray icons, and since it is a docking application, the window manager needs to also support WindowMaker Dock Apps. The only window manager that meets these requirements to my knowledge is:

- Openbox 2 (http://icculus.org/openbox)

If you know of any other window managers that support the KDE3 hints for the system tray and docking apps (i.e. that docker works in), please let me know so I can add them to this list, and test docker out in them!

Why dont my GNOME2 system tray icons show up?

I dont know! Email me and let me know what application isnt working. (Dont you dare email me about a GNOME1 application!

vtkFlRenderWindowInteractor 1.02

vtkFlRenderWindowInteractor 1.02

vtkFlRenderWindowInteractor is a VTK class. more>>
vtkFlRenderWindowInteractor is a VTK class (actually FLTK too, but it helps to think of it as VTK) that enables VTK to render to and interact with your FLTK application.
It is based on code by David Pont (the code was then called FlvtkInteractorWindow) which in its turn was partly based on the wxVTK code by David D. Marshall and Brian Todd. I reworked the code extensively to be simpler, more robust and bug-free(tm). It should always be available from.
The main idea behind this class is to be as simple and robust as possible.
It is possible to have multiple VTK renderings (all active) in your FLTK application, each with its own independent working VTK interactorstyle. You can also add custom interactorstyles, just like with any standard VTK interactor. Picking also works fine, thank you. vtkFlRenderWindowInteractor library fulfils one purpose and thats to enable you to write applications with FLTK and VTK.
This code has been successfully tested on Linux, Irix, Windows and many of the other platforms supported by ITK, as the vtkFlRWI is extensively used in the InsightApplications component of ITK.
Enhancements:
- This release was updated for VTK 5.0.

Vortaro 1.0

Vortaro 1.0

Vortaro is an Esperanto Dictionary and Parser. more>>
Vortaro is an Esperanto Dictionary and Parser.

Ive been working on a simple Esperanto dictionary, and this is the first release of it. It is licensed under the GPL. It was written in C++ using the QT4 GUI toolkit and it uses an embedded SQLite database to store the vocabulary words.

The vocabulary database currently contains only the entries from "Universala Vortaro ", the original Esperanto dictionary published by L. L. Zamenhof at the end of the 1800s. I plan to add more roots later on, but I havent gotten to it yet. However, the dictionary is available in six languages: Esperanto, French, English, German, Russian, and Polish.

The "Esperanto Parser" can break a word down into its root and affixes. In the future it will work on a whole sentence, but this is what I have so far.

Since these are written as pure QT4 apps, they should compile fine on Linux, Windows, or Mac OS X. For now I only have a Windows installer, but I plan on producing a Linux and Mac OS X version once I have the time.

Installation:

To compile from source:

Uncompress the archive
cd to one of the source directories
Run qmake
Run make
Run make install

Zodiac 0.4.9

Zodiac 0.4.9

Zodiac is a DNS protocol analyzation and exploitation program. more>>
Zodiac is a DNS protocol analyzation and exploitation program. Zodiac project is a robust tool to explore the DNS protocol.
Internally it contains advanced DNS routines for DNS packet construction and disassembling and is the optimal tool if you just want to try something out without undergoing the hassle to rewrite DNS packet routines or packet filtering.
Main features:
- sniffing on all kinds of configured devices (Ethernet, PPP, ...)
- capturing and decoding nearly all types of DNS packets, including packet decompression
- ncurses driven text based frontend with interactive commandline and multiple windows
- threaded design allow more flexibility when adding your own features
- clean code, commented and tested just fine, ready for you to extend :-)
- internal DNS packet filtering allows installation of pseudo DNS filters you can "select()" on
- a large set of DNS packet construction primitives
- DNS name server versioning using BIND version requests
- DNS local spoofing, answering DNS queries on your LAN before the remote NS
- DNS jizz spoofing, exploiting a weakness within old BIND versions
- DNS ID spoofing, exploiting a weakness within the DNS protocol itself
If you like to help out getting the Missing or Incomplete features into zodiac, you can mail us for any zodiac-internal question you might have, we are happy to help you out with any DNS/Zodiac question. The code is pretty easy to understand, if you code your own extensions please try to maintain the current readable style and comment your changes/code.
Zodiac has been developed and tested on the Linux 2.2.x platform. It should work on all platforms that do have POSIX Threads, the terminal library ncurses and the libpcap packet capture library installed. To run zodiac you need root access for obvious reasons. If you get zodiac compiled and working on another platform then Linux 2.2.x, please let us know, well mention it here.

libnjb 2.2.5

libnjb 2.2.5

libnjb is a C library and API for communicating with the Creative Nomad JukeBox and Dell DJ digital audio players under Linux. more>>
libnjb is a C library and API for communicating with the Creative Nomad JukeBox and Dell DJ digital audio players under Linux, BSD, Mac OS X and Windows.
The protocol these devices use is presumably called PDE (Portable Digital Entertainment protocol) at Creative. Newer devices using the Microsoft MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) are NOT supported.
There are no kernel devices required for libnjb:s operation, so instead it depends on user-level USB using libusb on all platforms. The following platforms are currently supported:
FreeBSD and NetBSD. FreeBSD is the primary development platform, though NetBSD users have successfully built and run the library and sample applications.
OpenBSD has not been tested, but if it uses the same USB stack as the other BSDs, then it should work fine.
Linux works fine. (Note that libusb also requires that users mount the usbdevfs filesystem, which everybody should have as default nowadays.)
MacOS X (Darwin) is also supported and works fine.
Solaris is supported through Sun:s own reimplementation of libusb.
Working Devices:
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox 1 (aka D.A.P.)
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox 2
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox 3
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen USB 2.0
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen NX
- Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra
- Creative Zen Touch
- Creative Zen Micro
- Creative Zen Sleek
- Creative Zen
- Dell Digital Jukebox ("Dell DJ")
- Second Generation Dell DJ
- Dell Pocket DJ
NOT SUPPORTED:
- Creative Zen Portable Media Center
- Creative Zen MicroPhoto
- Any other MTP device
Newer devices have a 2.x MTP/PlaysForSure firmware upgrade - we do not support MTP so please dont install it!

Auditor Security Linux 200605

Auditor Security Linux 200605

The Auditor Security Linux is a live CD based on Knoppix. more>>
The Auditor security collection is a Live-System based on KNOPPIX. With no installation whatsoever, the analysis platform is started directly from the CD-Rom and is fully accessible within minutes.
Independent of the hardware in use, the Auditor security collection offers a standardised working environment, so that the build-up of know-how and remote support is made easier. Even during the planning and development stages, our target was to achieve an excellent user-friendliness combined with an optimal toolset.
Professional open-source programs offer you a complete toolset to analyse your safety, byte for byte. In order to become quickly proficient within the Auditor security collection, the menu structure is supported by recognised phases of a security check. (Foot-printing, analysis, scanning, wireless, brute-forcing, cracking).
By this means, you instinctively find the right tool for the appropriate task. In addition to the approx. 300 tools, the Auditor security collection contains further background information regarding the standard configuration and passwords, as well as word lists from many different areas and languages with approx. 64 million entries.
Current productivity tools such as web browser, editors and graphic tools allow you to create or edit texts and pictures for reports, directly within the Auditor security platform. Many tools were adapted, newly developed or converted from other system platforms, in order to make as many current auditing tools available as possible on one CD-ROM.
