Wordpress project is the leading open source blogging platform that has rocketed to popularity thanks to its open design and powerful features. This JumpBox includes Wordpress version 2.1.2.

Manually installing Open Source applications not only takes a lot of time and effort, but when youre done its still left to you to figure out how to protect the data the application manages. With a JumpBox its easy to add automatic backups of the entire state of the application.

A JumpBox application is a virtual appliance that bundles the open source application and all its runtime dependencies into a single package that runs on top of virtualization software from VMWare, Parallels or Xen. This means all JumpBox applications automatically gain the benefits of traditional server virtualization and can be dropped into existing virtualization infrastructure when available.

JumpBox provides a consistent runtime environment for all applications that we bundle. The applications may differ considerably, but their installation and operation will be familiar no matter which JumpBox you choose.

Deepest Sender is a client that will allow you to post to blogs from directly within Firefox. The project is primarily a LiveJournal client, although it supports Blogger (GData) and WordPress (metaWeblog) too, with support for more stuff to come.

Note that the actual Deepest Sender website will always have the most up to date version.

If DS wont load for you in Firefox 2, and youre using a non-US English version (ie. British English or whatever), you will need to download a spellcheck dictionary in order for it to work. Non US English builds dont come with dictionaries.

Drivel is a GNOME client for working with online journals, also known as weblogs or simply blogs.

Drivel retains a simple and elegant design while providing many powerful features, including support for LiveJournal, Blogger, Movable Type, Advogato, and Atom journals. (Systems based off these are also supported, including WordPress and Drupal.)

rss2twitter project is a freeware perl tool (we distribute also a Windows executable) to send to Twitter (batch) the links and the posts of a RSS.
I decide to develop it because Ive a lot of blogs with Blogger and I like the wordpress Twitter pluging of Alex King.
Configure and run rss2twitter
At the moment rss2twitter is a command line and works in the same way on every OS supported by perl
rss2twitter [-options] (or perl rss2twitter.pl [-options]
where options include:
-help to print the line help
-verbose to print verbose messages
-version to print version
-debug to help to debug
-configure file to use a specific configuration file (the default is rss2twitter.cfg in the same directory of the executable)
rss2twitter uses the file rss2twitter.cfg as its configuration file. This file must reside in the same directory as the rss2twitter file, since it searches for this file at runtime. You can create your own rss2twitter.cfg file and use it with -configure option.
Inside this file, you can change the values for the user, password, feed
To change any of these values, you just need to edit rss2twitter.cfg. You can also create a new .cfg file and tell rss2twitter to read it at runtime, using the -configure yourfile.cfg option.
With user and password you have to set your Twitter user and password.
With feed you can set the RSS feed to download. rss2twitter will make a file named xxxxxxxx.r2t where xxxxxxxx is the user you have set in rss2twitter.cfg. rss2twitter will use this file to send to twitter only the new posts. DONT DELETE IT.
Pay attention: send posts to Twitter is very slow so run rss2twitter with -verbose to verify it is working.
Enhancements:
- Now the most recent post is the last entry in Twitter.

ksshfs program is an easy to use front end for sshfs. The main limitation right now is that there is no way to enter a password at runtime to sshfs, so you should set up your ssh server and client to do a password-less login with RSA keys or some other sort of key exchange.

This shouldnt be a big problem for most home users. I will work on a way to get password input soon. Any ideas on how to accomplish this easily are more than welcome.

Also, if you choose to start konqueror via this tool, you will have to close that konqueror window before closing this tool. If anyone knows a way around this also, please let me know.

This program requires sshfs and all its dependencies, as well as kommander.

sshfs allows a user to mount the filesystem of a remote computer as a local file system so that all local programs can access files on the remote computer as if they were local. This is a very easy and secure way to do file sharing.
