Wordplay 0.3

Wordplay 0.3

Wordplay is a game for Unix/GTK+. more>>
Wordplay is a game for Unix/GTK+. Wordplay is primarily aimed at Scrabble players looking to improve their anagramming and hooking skills, but can also be played for fun. The dictionary used is the full TWL98 word list (used for tournaments and club play in the U.S. and Canada).

Three types of games are available:

Word Mine: Find all words of a certain length which can be formed from the letters of a larger word. Letters may be repeated only as often as they appear in the given word.
Word Hooks: Find all words which "hook" off a given word: forming a new word by adding a letter to the beginning or end.
Bingos: Find all anagrams of the given (seven or more) letters. In a Scrabble game, playing a word which uses all letters on your rack is a bingo, netting you a 50-point bonus. The bingo puzzles included with wordplay comprise the 500 most statistically likely bingo-able 7-letter and 8-letter combinations, based on the standard Scrabble bag letter distribution.

SpamProbe 1.4d

SpamProbe 1.4d

SpamProbe is a spam detection program that uses a Bayesian analysis of the frequencies of terms used in the email. more>>
SpamProbe operates on a different basis entirely. Instead of using pattern matching and a set of human generated rules SpamProbe relies on a Bayesian analysis of the frequency of words used in spam and non-spam emails received by an individual person.
The process is completely automatic and tailors itself to the kinds of emails that each person receives.
Main features:
- Spam detection using Bayesian analysis of terms contained in each email. Words used often in spams but not in good email tend to indicate that a message is spam. Generally over 90% effective at detecting spam once a few hundred spams have been classified.
- Automatically learns from incoming mails as they are classified. Incorporates users feedback to tailor classification to each users personal tastes.
- Works with procmail, maildrop, or a similar tool to produce a complete server or client side spam filtering system.
- Written in C++ for good performance. Database access using Peter Grafs PBL ISAM library or Berkeley DB for quick startup and fast term count retrieval.
- Recognition and decoding of MIME attachments in quoted-printable and base64 encoding. Automatically skips non-text attachments. MIME decoding enables SpamProbe to make decisions based on words in the emails rather than base64 gobbledigook.
- Counts two word phrases as well as single words for higher precision.
- Ignores HTML tags in emails for scoring purposes unless the -h command line option is used. Many spams use HTML and few humans do so HTML tends to become a powerful recognizer of spams. However in the authors opinion this also substantially increases the likelihood of false positives if someone does send a non-spam emai containing HTML tags. SpamProbe does pull urls from inside of html tags however since those tend to be spammer specific.
- Locks mboxes and databases using fcntl file locking to avoid problems when multiple emails arrive simultaneously.
- Scores only the Received, Subject, To, From, and Cc headers. All other headers are ignored to make it hard for spammers to hide non-spammy words in X- headers to fool the filter. The -H command line option can be used to override this.
- Supports Content-Length: field in mbox headers. This can be disabled using -Y option to use only From_ to recognize new messages.
- Uses MD5 hash of emails to recognize reclassification of an already classified spam to avoid distortion of the word counts if emails are reclassified. This way emails can be kept in an mbox that is repeatedly scanned by spamprobe without counting them more than once.
- Provides a date stamp based database cleanup command to remove terms from the database if their counts never rise above a certain threshold value (normally 2).
- Provides an edit-term command allowing users to directly modify the counts of individual terms. For example to force a particular term to be considered spammy or good.
Enhancements:
- Improved image processing by adding support for jpeg and png attachments.
- Fixed gcc 4.x compile issue.
- Added ability to selectively ignore headers using -H-name option.

Hello! Thank you for donating your knowledge and time to our cause. Pariahware, Inc. is currently working on a Bible trivia game that is a cross between the TV game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" and the electronic game series "You Dont Know Jack!" As one might imagine, this can be a daunting task.
That is why we are asking for your help in coming up with some GREAT Bible questions in order to make this game even more fun than we could do by ourselves! gmbCrossword 0.8

gmbCrossword 0.8

gmbCrossword is an application for making swedish type crosswords. more>>
gmbCrossword is an application for making swedish type crosswords. It is written i Gambas and has support for word lookup in databases.

It is written in english but is translated to swedish. I have some problems to get Gambas to use the swedish translation myself but its probably my own fault.

In the distribution file youll find databases for english, swedish and computer words. They are rather small databases (10000-20000 words) to keep the filesize down but it is easy to import new words. I also have a bigger swedish file (>200000 words) but it is not currently in the distribution.

Instructions:

Unpack the file in your home directory (or somewhere else where you have write permissions). You need write permissions to the databases to be able to edit them.

The application file (gmbcrossword) can be located anywhere in your path.
The first time you start the program you need to specify the path to the databases using the settings menu.

WordSearch is a Perl script that generates word search puzzles. WordSearch will generate random word search puzzles, or you can give it a list which will allow it to generate your own puzzles.

This program is based off of discussions Ive had with Stephen Uitti, who wrote a C program to create wordsearch puzzles.

Without these discussions, this application probably wouldnt even exist, let alone be useful. Thanks, Steve!

MIME::Words 5.420

MIME::Words 5.420

MIME::Words is a Perl module to deal with RFC-1522 encoded words. more>>
MIME::Words is a Perl module to deal with RFC-1522 encoded words.

SYNOPSIS

Before reading further, you should see MIME::Tools to make sure that you understand where this module fits into the grand scheme of things. Go on, do it now. Ill wait.

Ready? Ok...

use MIME::Words qw(:all);

### Decode the string into another string, forgetting the charsets:
$decoded = decode_mimewords(
To: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Keld_J=F8rn_Simonsen?= ,
);

### Split string into array of decoded [DATA,CHARSET] pairs:
@decoded = decode_mimewords(
To: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Keld_J=F8rn_Simonsen?= ,
);

### Encode a single unsafe word:
$encoded = encode_mimeword("xABFranxE7oisxBB");

### Encode a string, trying to find the unsafe words inside it:
$encoded = encode_mimewords("Me and xABFranxE7oisxBB in town");

Fellow Americans, you probably wont know what the hell this module is for. Europeans, Russians, et al, you probably do.

For example, heres a valid MIME header you might get:

From: =?US-ASCII?Q?Keith_Moore?= < moore@cs.utk.edu>
To: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Keld_J=F8rn_Simonsen?= < keld@dkuug.dk>
CC: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Andr=E9_?= Pirard < PIRARD@vm1.ulg.ac.be>
Subject: =?ISO-8859-1?B?SWYgeW91IGNhbiByZWFkIHRoaXMgeW8=?=
=?ISO-8859-2?B?dSB1bmRlcnN0YW5kIHRoZSBleGFtcGxlLg==?=
=?US-ASCII?Q?.._cool!?=

The fields basically decode to (sorry, I can only approximate the Latin characters with 7 bit sequences /o and e):

From: Keith Moore < moore@cs.utk.edu>
To: Keld J/orn Simonsen < keld@dkuug.dk>
CC: Andre Pirard < PIRARD@vm1.ulg.ac.be>
Subject: If you can read this you understand the example... cool!
