Wine doors is an application designed to assist users in obtaining, installing, uninstalling and working with wine applications. more>>
Wine-doors is an application designed to assist users in obtaining, installing, uninstalling and working around the caveats associated with wine applications.

Although wine doors is intended to be a replacement for winetools it is not limited to release cycles for the applications available to install, instead a web service will be provided, this web service will serve XML Pack Lists and Application Packs as well as various other resources.

Using a web service to connect users to applications means the service can be community managed thus splitting application installation and configuration from the user interface used to install the applications.

coolrun 1.1

coolrun 1.1

coolrun is a small shell script which enables or disables the power saving features on AMD Duron/Athlon/Athlon XP processors. more>>
coolrun is a small shell script which enables or disables the power saving features on AMD Duron/Athlon/Athlon XP and some Sempron processors using direct hardware access to the Northbridge chipset. The project requires the setpci utility from the pciutils package.
At the moment, a lot of chipset models are supported with the exception of the ATi and ALi chipsets because of missing public info.
Main project site of the script is at SourceForge - http://sourceforge.net/projects/coolrun
NOTE: if you experience some strange behaviors after enabling the power saving features on your chipset like system lock-ups, instability, decreased disk or USB performances, then this is not the scripts fault! This is a chipset issue and cannot be "fixed" by this script. The settings this script uses work perfect on some systems but on others they lead to strange behaviors, most notably on systems that use early versions of the VIA KT133/KT266 chipsets. However, if you do notice strange behaviors, then just deactivate the setting using the -d option or in rare cases just reboot your system. Some BIOSes provide settings that can further improve the stability/responsness of your system while the powersaving settings are enabled. More information can be found here: http://www.daniel.nofftz.net/linux/
Im not responsible for any damages to your system when using this script. Different motherboard manufacturers use the same chipsets but with different voltage lines and/or capacitors, thus one system can behave very normal while others experience random lock-ups or performance issues. However, Ive tested the script on a wide range of chipsets and so far Im pretty pleased with its operation, though Im always looking to improve it :)
How to test if the settings work?
After enabling the powersaving features on your chipset, you can use a monitoring program like GKrellM to check out the temperature on your processor. Also you can check out the CPU fan speed to see if the fans rotation slows down which means that the system is decreasing its speed because the CPU is running cooler and theres no need for the fan to operate at a high speed.
Enhancements:
- Improved HW checking

TkWiCe 0.9

TkWiCe 0.9

TkWiCe is a free wine cellar software. more>>
TkWiCe is a free wine cellar software. As it is written in native Tcl/Tk, youve got a real chance to use it on any operating system with that interpreter on it (you can get Tcl/Tk for any Unix like Mac OS X, Linux, *BSD, AIX, HP-UX or Solaris as well as for PowerPC and Windows).
If you want to get a fast overview about your bottles (perhaps youve got to choose one?), this might be what you are looking for.
If youre more interested in writing intellectual tasting notes take a wordprocessor like LyX or OpenOffice instead. And if 100 points are the most important thing to you, please choose other points of interest than wine (and bestow the saved money). Such things never will be added to this software:
Aims
- Focus is on pleasure, not on charts.
- Function conquers eyecandy.
- Own plain text files for each wine.
- Everything about one wine fits on 1024x768 pixel at once.
- Old computers are new enough.
- No more dependencies than Tcl/Tk (not: operating system).
- Free (means: liberty *and* free of charge).
- Dont replace wine literature (as commercial solutions try).
Enhancements:
- Bugfixes in startup, the cellar book/history window, and the country selection buttons in the main window.

NcFTP Client 3.2.1

NcFTP Client 3.2.1

NcFTP Client is a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client applications. more>>
NcFTPs purpose is to provide a powerful and flexible interface to the Internet standard File Transfer Protocol. It is intended to replace the stock ftp program that comes with the system.

Although the program appears to be rather spartan, youll find that ncftp has a wealth of valuable performance and usage features. The program was designed with an emphasis on usability, and it does as much as it can for you automatically so you can do what you expect to do with a file transfer program, which is transfer files between two interconnected systems.

Some of the cooler features include progress meters, filename completion, command-line editing, background processing, auto-resume downloads, bookmarking, cached directory listings, host redialing, working with firewalls and proxies, downloading entire directory trees, etc., etc.

The ncftp distribution comes with the useful utility programs ncftpget(1) and ncftpput(1) which were designed to do command-line FTP. In particular, they are very handy for shell scripts. This version of ncftp no longer does command-line FTP, since the main ncftp program is more of a browser-type program.

arianne 0.12

arianne 0.12

arianne is a multiplayer online game engine project. more>>
Arianne is a multiplayer online games framework and engine to develop turn based and real time games.

It provides a simple way of creating games on a portable and robust server architecture. The server is coded in Java and uses Python for your game description, provides a MySQL backend and uses an UDP transport channel to communicate with dozens of players.

Our reference client engines are coded using Java and the C language in order to achieve maximum portability.

Arianne has been in development since 1999 and has evolved from a tiny application written in pseudo-C++ to a powerful, expandable but simple server framework, running on the Java platform, and a portable client framework, written in bare C to allow total portability of ariannes clients. Ariannes server is totally client agnostic.

Since the beginning, the key concept at the heart of Ariannes development has been KISS: Keep it simple, stupid!

Arianne games are playable. It now hosts several games:

* a multiplayer Gladiators fighting game
* a multiplayer Pacman game

All our efforts are supported by ariannes server: Marauroa.

Marauroa is completely written in Java using a multithreaded server architecture with a UDP oriented network protocol, a MySQL based persistence engine and a flexible game system. The game system is totally expandable and modifiable by game developers and is able to run Python scripts defining the games rules.

Marauroa is based on a design philosophy we called Action/Perception. Each turn a perception is send to the clients explaining what they currently perceive. Clients can ask the server to perform any action in their name using actions. Marauroa is totally game agnostic and makes very little assumptions about what are you trying to do, allowing a great freedom to create any game type.

Bugs are facts of life, they just happen.

On Arianne we care about code quality so code is fully tested using Test Units with JUnit and cppunit, so all modules are tested for most common cases, allowing a better quality software to be deployed.

The name originated from the Greek name Ariadne. (Latin; Arianna and from French; Arianne). Ariadne is a famous character in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of King Minos of Crete and she was in love with Theseus, the Athenian hero who killed the Minotaur ( a half human, half bull creature).

Theseus married her, however, then later left her alone on the island of Naxos. Ariadne later married Dionisos the God of Wine. The name Ariadne originates from the ancient Greek words ari which means intelligent and adnis which means pure (as in a virgin). Hence, the daughters of the Romans and Greeks where often called by this name.

silverflux 0.6.0

silverflux 0.6.0

silverflux allows you to easily install and manage commercial games on your GNU/Linux system. more>>
silverflux allows you to easily install and manage commercial games on your GNU/Linux system. Only games with available GNU/Linux native binaries are supported at this time, but extensions for running games under wine/cedega/dosbox are planned.
silverflux automagically installs, downloads patches, and configures games without any required user intervention. silverflux project is a truely simplified game management system.
The intended audience for this software includes desktop as well as advanced end users.
silverflux was created to fill in the last linux gaming deficiency; the interface between the user and the system. silverflux provides the glue that prevents the user from fumbling with ill-concieved and clumsy game installers (both windows and linux native).
Instead an advanced user figures out how an optimal installation works then creates an automated script; thus simplifying the installation process for everyone. This is especially important for enabling games on wine where config files often need to be tweaked manually. everyone benefits.
Installation:
1. extract the archive
$ tar zxvf silverflux-0.6.0.tar.gz
2. add silverflux binaries to your path (this is a required step). you will want to add this path to the end of your ~/.bashrc file so you wont have to type this all the time.
$ PATH="$PATH:$PWD/silverflux-0.6.0/bin"
3. start the gui
$ silverflux-gui
Enhancements:
- A lot of work has been done on code clean-up.
- Various important features have been finalized.
- A simple Python-based GUI interface is now available.

TagCloud Maker Class 1.0

TagCloud Maker Class 1.0

TagCloud Maker Class is a class that takes a single dimensional array of terms and outputs a piece of HTML with each term. more>>
TagCloud Maker Class is a class that takes a single dimensional array of terms and outputs a piece of HTML with each term wrapped in a span tag with an ID that you can define in your CSS.

TagCloud Maker Class script can be called either as an object or as a static class.

Check out the example page. The keywords from the sample page come from the last 30 entries of my blog. Ill admit I cheated and just open the database and pull them from there instead of trying to call my blog w/curl or fopen and parse it. (Although that would have been cooler.) I then ran each blog entry against Yahoos Term Extraction API to get the terms. Then I pumped that array into my new TagCloud maker. The important code you cant see from the index.php is below.

require_once(TagCloud.php);
$x = TagCloud::fetch_cloud($thisArray,...,tagcloud_,http://www.technorati.com/tags/%s);
$o = new TagCloud($thisArray,...,tagcloud_,http://www.technorati.com/tags/%s,10,weight,2);
$o->get_cloud();
$y = $o->output_cloud;

As you can see, I used 2 different methods of creating the 2 lists. The first is just calling the object::method statically with all the necessary parameters. This is by far the easiest way to use this class and unless you need something special, its the way I recommend. The second way it to instantiate an object. I pass all the variables into the constructor but you could just as easily use the setters to set them all. (dont know why you would but hey, I spent an extra 15 minutes creating getters and setters so use them, by all means use them!)

Quanta Plus 3.5.7

Quanta Plus 3.5.7

Quanta is a web editor for KDE supporting HTML and more. more>>
Quanta Plus is a highly stable and feature rich web development environment. Quantas vision has always been to start with the best architectural foundations, design for efficient and natural use and enable maximal user extensibility.

We recognize that we dont have the resources to do everything we would like to so our target is to make it easy for you to help make this the best community based desktop application anywhere. Pretty much everything in Quanta is designed so you can extend it.

Even the way it handles XML DTDs is based on XML files you can edit. You can even import DTDs, write scripts to manage editor contents, visually create dialogs for your scripts and assign script actions to nearly any file operation in a project. You can even look at and communicate with a wide range of what happens inside Quanta using DCOP.

Quanta is based on KDE so this means it is network transparent from any dialog or project. It can use not only FTP but other KDE KIO slaves from file dialogs or in project settings. For instance if you want secure access try the fish KIO slave that uses SSH.

Just enter fish://[user]@domain in any dialog or select fish in your project settings. Here on this site you will find information on using Kommander to visually build dialogs you can extend Quanta with. These applications talk to each other using an IPC (Inter Process Communication) called DCOP (DEsktop Communication Protocol).

Of course I realize this can sound like alphabet soup techno-babble to some web developers, but heres what it means. When you are using Quanta and realize you would like to do something and you want to ask "Can I do this?" you can expect the answer will not only be yes, but it will probably be even cooler than you hoped for.

Not included on this site are other tools you can use with Quanta for revision control and reviewing and merging changes in files. Those applications are Cervisia and Kompare, and if they are not installed and you install them Quanta will use them.

We would like to think that there are rich rewards to be found here for those willing to explore new ways of doing things, or perhaps in some cases old ways that are just new to you.
