Bandwidth Meter and Diagnostics is a Firefox extension that will automatically check whether Internet connection is working.... more>>
Bandwidth Meter and Diagnostics is a Firefox extension that will automatically check whether Internet connection is working or not when a website can not be loaded, and a list of tools for network troubleshooting. Try to type a random domain name(e.g., qwqwqwq121212.com) to see what this means ...
This extension adds "Bandwidth Meter" to the Tools Menu. It performs the following tasks:
- Display your public IP address
- Display your public domain name
- Test download speed/bandwidth
- Test upload speed/bandwidth
This extension runs under any OS. If you use Windows, you could try our other Windows specific extension "Broadband Speed test and Diagnostics" that has extra features and can only run under Windows. We are creating this because we get many requests from non-windows users.

Twindy 1.00

Twindy 1.00

Twindy is a window manager for linux inspired by Tracktion. more>>
Twindy is a window manager for linux and possibly any system running an X server, inspired by Tracktion, the multitrack audio editor/sequencer for Windows and OS X.
Twindy tries to apply Tracktions workflow, where everything is on screen at once, to a window manager.
As such, there are two panels, a main panel where new windows/programs open by default and may be selected using tabs, and a lower panel, which can only hold one window/program at a time.
The idea is that youll do your main work in the top panel, and use the bottom panel for a terminal, or a file manager youd want to keep open. See the screenshots page for some examples.
The philosophy behind Twindy isnt particularly complicated:
- Twindy is intended to be as simple as possible. That means it is only a window manager - its not intended to become a huge Desktop Environment like KDE/Gnome, with all sorts of applications developed specifically for it.
- All Twindys options must be configurable from Twindy itself - there shouldnt be any messing about with configuration files necessary. (okay, were not there yet, but eventually...)
- Twindy should be fairly lightweight - Im not entirely sure how well it succeeds in this yet, as I dont have a low-ish spec machine to test it on, but on my P4 laptop, it only takes up ~10MB while running, which I reckon is pretty good, compared to Gnome and KDE. Since it uses JUCE to do pretty much everything, it should be pretty good on this front, and its got very few dependencies (basically the X libs, and freetype).
Main features:
- Windows are automatically mapped to either the upper or lower panel, and fixed in position.
- Upper window panels are tabbed.
- Fully customisable colour scheme, colours are read from .tracktionscheme files, so you can import your favourite Tracktion 2 scheme. This is probably the best place to find .tracktionschemes.
- You dont have to start it from an xterm anymore!
- Fourteen user-customisable buttons in the lower left corner, which can be set to open a popup menu with a number of program entries, or just start a particular program.
- Can run any number of programs at startup (particularly useful for gnome-settings-daemon).
- Clicking the clock switches between showing the current time, or the date.
Enhancements:
- This is the last release of the project.
- Various small improvements to the UI have been made, such as labeling the upper and lower panel buttons, asking whether the user wants to log out, and providing buttons to switch apps between the upper and lower panels.
- Localization support was also added.

iODBC is a cross-platform Driver Manager that comforms to the Microsoft ODBC 2.x & 3.x and X/Open SQL CLI data access specs.
iODBC Driver Manager and SDK enables the development of database-centric solutions that are both database and platform independent.
What is the ODBC Value Proposition?
The ability to develop applications independent of back-end database engine.
What is iODBC?
iODBC is the acronym for Independent Open DataBase Connectivity, an Open Source platform independent implementation of both the ODBC and X/Open specifications. It is rapidly emerging as the industry standard for developing solutions that are language, platform and database independent.
What is the iODBC Value Proposition?
The ability to develop applications independent of back-end database engine, operating system, and for the most part programming language. Although ODBC and iODBC are both C based Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) there are numerous cross language hooks and bridges from languages such as: C++, Java, Perl, Python, TCL etc.
iODBC has been ported to numerous platforms, including:
Linux (x86, Itanium, Alpha, Mips, and StrongArm), Solaris (Sparc & x86), AIX, HP-UX (PA-RISC & Itanium), Digital UNIX, Dynix, Generic UNIX 5.4, FreeBSD, MacOS 9, MacOS X, DG-UX, and OpenVMS.
This is a great SDK for porting WIN32-based ODBC applications to Linux and other OS platforms.
Enhancements:
- Added support for FileDSN
- Added support for Connection Pooling
- Added check for tracefile size
- Call ODBC 2.x functions in driver if application uses ODBC 2.x only calls
- Fixed problem parsing driver result in SQLSetStmtAttr
- Fixed source code readability
- Fixed bug in overwriting driver name
- Fixed check for /Library/ODBC for Mac OS X
- Fixed prototypes
- Rewrote bootstrap script and configure summary
- Use localtime_r in tracing when available
- Fixed build issues with Mac OS X
- Small code cleanups and fixes

GNU CD Input and Control Library 0.78.2

GNU CD Input and Control Library 0.78.2

The GNU Compact Disc Input and Control library encapsulates CD-ROM reading and control for applications wishing to be oblivious. more>>
GNU CD Input and Control Library (libcdio) encapsulates CD-ROM reading and control. The libcdio package contains a library which encapsulates CD-ROM reading and control. Applications wishing to be oblivious of the OS- and device-dependent properties of a CD-ROM can use this library.
Some support for on-disk CD-image types like CDRWINs BIN/CUE format, cdrdaos TOC format, and Neros NRG format is available. Therefore, applications that use this library also have the ability to read on-disk CD images as though they were CDs.
A library for working with ISO-9660 filesystems (libiso9660) is included. A generic interface for issuing MMC (multimedia commands) is also part of the libcdio library.
The cdparanoia library and cdparanoia command are included making this the only single-source cdparanoia that works on FreeBSD, cygwin, Solaris, BSDI as well as GNU/Linux.
Some uses of the library:
- Video CD authoring and ripping tools VCDImager
- VCD and/or CD-DA plugins for media players:
xine
videolans vlc.
gmerlin.
mplayerxp.
- kiso, a KDE GUI for creating, extracting and editing ISO 9660 images
- a Samba vfs module that that allows exporting a CD without mounting it
Utility programs in the libcdio package are:
cd-info
a program which displays CD information: number of tracks, CD-format and if possible basic information about the format. If libcddb is available, the cd-info program will display CDDB matches on CD-DA discs. And if a new enough version of libvcdinfo is available (from the vcdimager project), then cd-info shows basic VCD information.
cd-drive
a program which decribes CD-ROM/DVD drive characteristics
cd-paranoia
a program for extracting audio from a CD in a jitter- and error-tolerant way.
cd-read
a program for performing low-level block reading of a CD or CD image
cdda-player
a curses program using the audio controls to play a CD-DA through the audio output port.
iso-info
a program for displaying ISO-9660 information from an ISO-9660 image
iso-read
a program for extracting files from an ISO-9660 image.
Enhancements:
- A minor compilation problem was fixed.

Nexenta OS Alpha 7

Nexenta OS Alpha 7

Nexenta is a complete GNU-based open source operating system built on top of the OpenSolaris kernel and runtime. more>>
Nexenta is a complete GNU-based open source operating system built on top of the OpenSolaris kernel and runtime.
It is a result of our inspiration and desire to build a great system based on the best existing software: SunOS kernel and GNU software. We use Debian - one of the best existing software distribution/packaging mechanisms - to glue the numerous pieces together.
At the moment, Nexenta is not part of the Debian Project. Our packages are not present in the Debian database. We are hoping that in the future this will change and our packages will get their "upstream acceptance".
Nexenta OS has been a hard and challenging work, yet every bit of it is fun! We spent many hours building the system and today it is out - itll start speaking for itself.
Nexenta is completely open source and free of any charge.
It contains Apache, MySQL, Perl/Python/PHP, Firefox, Evolution, software update manager, Synaptic package manager, Gaim Instant Messenger, abiword, administration & development utilities, editors, graphics, GNOME, interpreters, libraries and many others. All of this is running on the state-of-the-art SunOS kernel. Visit our ScreenShots gallery to see them all in action.
Theres a huge and growing multitude of software: the kernel, network services, databases, utilities, user applications. There is a conglomerate of code and hardware that is constantly changing, improving, and altogether getting more complicated. Somebody once rightly said: free software is only free if time has no value. Nexenta distribution integrates well over 2,300 packages. It installs, runs and upgrades. It delivers!
Nexenta software packages (for the most part) are originated from Ubuntu (Breezy) Linux. Ubuntu (yet another excellent distribution that uses DEB software packaging) contains more than 16,000+ software packages. One of our goals is to make them all available for use on top of our environment.
Today Nexenta runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit x86/x64 platforms. As a prove of relative maturity and a confidence booster - this web portal and the entire development environment (including Bugs and HackZone) are powered by Nexenta.
Nexenta makes its first steps into the big world. We invite you to join us and participate too! Help us make Nexenta the best operating environment in the world! Help us test Nexenta on your laptops, desktops, and servers. Help us improve our web portal, translate Nexenta into your own language, add new applications, enhance existing ones and define a set of software to be used in the future releases.
This is a complete Nexenta OS with select applications on a single CD with network and GNOME environment.
The LiveCD image can be burned into a bootable CD-R/CD-RW, and/or it can be booted in VMWare or QEMU environments. Our LiveCD contains support for 32- and 64-bit x86/x64 platforms.
