db4o 6.1

db4o 6.1

db4o is an object database available for Java and for .NET, including CompactFramework and Mono. more>>
db4o is designed to be a simple, easy-to-use, and fast, native object database. Software developers using popular Java and .NET object-oriented frameworks know that using object databases is a more natural way to get work done. Developers have three ways to storing and retrieving data: relational, non-native object and native object.
Relational databases, such as Oracle, IBMs DB2 and Microsofts SQL server, store data in a tabular, row-and-column metaphor. The organization of traditional data in a relational database is easy to understand. The concept took off and today most data is stored in relational databases.
However, as object-oriented models became popular, developers were spending time trying to map objects into a relational database. Today, developers are forced to rely on relational-to-object mappers, but this technology compromise adds a layer of complexity and degrades performance. It is best suited for organizations that rely on legacy data.
Non-native object databases came on to the market in the early 1990s with great fanfare. But their promise was largely unfulfilled. Developers found the technology expensive, complex and hard to use. The first native object databases had similar shortcomings.
db4o is based on new native object database technology. db4o offers .NET and Java developers the simplest and easiest way to store objects. db4o is the only native object database designed for both Java and .NET, supplied as one single programming library (Java: .jar /.NET: .dll) to be included with developer applications.
Main features:
- One line of code to store objects
- Native Java / .NET
- Class model == database schema
- Smooth production process
- Automatic schema versioning
- Query by example
- S.O.D.A. active queries
- 250kB footprint
- Saves more than 50% costs to develop your application
- Saves more than 50% time to release your application
- No need for training and administration
- Build lean, structured and manageable code
- Improve your software lifecycle with better refactorability and re-use
Enhancements:
- This release comes with an improved client/server protocol, which is now completely asynchronous and able to batch messages.
- Both changes reduce the number of client/server message round trips, and therefore improve client/server performance.

Liboobs 0.6.1

Liboobs 0.6.1

Liboobs is a wrapping library to the System Tools Backends. more>>
Liboobs is a wrapping library to the System Tools Backends.

Liboobs will provide easy to access GObjects to system configuration details, like users, groups and network interfaces, it will handle sessions with the backend and data consistency too

To compile, you will need system-tools-backends 2.0 and DBus >= 0.31

Installation:

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.

Running `configure takes awhile. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make to compile the package.

3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.

4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.

5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.

Tidybot 1.6.1

Tidybot 1.6.1

Tidybot is a cross-platform batch (X)HTML syntax-checker and report-generator. more>>
Tidybot is a cross-platform batch (X)HTML syntax-checker and report-generator. It traverses a directory tree of (X)HTML files on your hard disk, and generates a web page listing all the errors and warnings it encounters.

Tidybot can be used in two ways: from the command-line, or through a user-friendly GUI application. The output will be identical in either case.

On Unix platforms, the GUI version of Tidybot is installed as tidybot_gui, and can be executed directly from the command line.

On MS Windows, the installer will have installed the GUI version as the program Tidybot GUI, which can be executed from the Start Menu: Start > Programs > Tidybot > Tidybot GUI.

In addition (depending on what you instructed the installer to do) you may also have a Tidybot GUI icon on your Desktop, and/or in the "Quick Launch" area of your Taskbar, that you can use to start the program.

The GUI version of Tidybot allows you to specify exactly the same options as the command-line version, just in a more convenient point-and-click fashion. The GUI version also has some functionality the command-line version lacks:

- The less often-used options are initially hidden. They can be made visible by choosing the Show Advanced Options menu item from the Options menu.
- If the Display results in browser checkbox is checked, Tidybot will send the results of the Tidybot run to your default browser.
- Settings and values are saved when you quit the application, and restored the next time you start it up. Some fields maintain a history of previously entered values, which can be selected from a drop-down menu.

OSGEdit 0.6.1

OSGEdit 0.6.1

OSGEdit is an editor of 3D scenes for scientific applications and games, using the OpenSceneGraph (OSG) library. more>>
OSGEdit is an editor of 3D scenes for scientific applications and games, using the OpenSceneGraph (OSG) library.
OSGEdit project allows easy scenegraph editing for anyone using OpenScenegraph in some 3D project.
OpenSceneGraph is a free (LGPL) library that implements professional 3D scenegraph management, usefull for games, scientific applications, real-time simulations, etc.
Take in mind that Its only a scene editor/composer, not a modeller. You can use many programs (like Blender) to model your objects and import them into OSGEdit to compose a complex OSG scene for your application with switches lods, etc.
Main features:
- Good design techniques (uses a lot of design patterns)
- wysiwyg: Its rendering all the time using OSG, so what you see on the screen is what you get when you open the scene with osgviewer or your own app.
- You can see a tree representing the graph where you can select nodes for all the operations. This tree is really a graph, the same node can hang in two different branches, and its a shared node, not a copy, changes on the node in one branch affect to the same node in the other branch.
- Each node type has a properties dialog integrated in the window (most of them are already supported).
- Of course, you can also manipulate transforms visually, there are tools to move, scale, and rotate transform nodes visually with the mouse.
- All the operations except for the new/open/save and zoom changes, can be undo and redo without limit.
- You can create new group (Group/Transform/Switch/LOD) nodes (It doesnt allow for creating of geodes, its not a modeller, only a scene composer).
- For these files that only contain one geode, you can also insert a Transform node as a parent of the selected node, even if its the root node.
- You can open all the formats supported by OSG and also save all the formats supported for writing by OSG.
- There is a tool for merging in files, you can add child nodes that are readed from file (this is very important if you are going to compose a complex scene from several models.
- Nodes can be copied, pasted into group nodes, and even cutted.
