Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors 1.0

Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors 1.0

Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors is a little script that changes your widescreen monitor resolution in one click. more>>
Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors is a little script that changes your widescreen monitor resolution in one click.
It couldnt get much more simpler than this little script/command. Anyhow, theres a few apps that would screw up my resolution after they exited and rather than look into it at the moment, I just googled to see if there was a quick command to execute that would change the resolution. So I found it, added that command to my KDE menu, then made a shortcut to it (ctrl + r) so I have a push-button resolution fix, which I recommend you do as its quite handy.
Anyhow, place Native Resolution Fix.desktop on your desktop but DO NOT USE it if you have a monitor with a smaller resolution. Instead, you can edit it and change the resolution to what you like and use the "-r" command to set the hertz, which will use one of the rates set in your xorg.conf.
Enhancements:
- NOTE: Please edit if your monitor doesnt support the 1680x1050 resolution in this script or do not use it.
- I am not responsible if your monitor, in a rare case, gets messed up by you using a resolution in which your monitor cant support.

Kernel Version Monitor is a Superkaramba theme that creates a widget displaying the current version information of the kernel. more>>
Kernel Version Monitor is a Superkaramba theme that creates a widget displaying the current version information of the Linux kernel as put forth by the kernel.org RSS feed here: http://kernel.org/kdist/rss.xml . Kernel Version Monitor uses the Tux icon from the nuoveXT icon theme found at http://nuovext.pwsp.net

Kudos and thanks to Richard "Ricardo" Szlachta for his advice on refining the aesthetics of this theme.

This is my first Superkaramba theme and a work in progress. I would love to hear comments, opinions and suggestions in order to improve this theme.

Hardware Monitor 1.4

Hardware Monitor 1.4

Hardware Monitor is a multi-purpose, beautiful system-monitoring applet. more>>
Hardware Monitor is a multi-purpose, beautiful system-monitoring applet.
The Hardware Monitor applet is an applet for the GNOME panel which tries to be a beautiful all-around solution to system monitoring. It also strives to be user-friendly and generally nice and sensible, integrating pleasantly with the rest of your GNOME desktop.
Includes different viewers, including a flame effect, allows multiple devices to be monitored in the samme applet, uses smooth updating, polished graphs, clean HIG-compliant interface.
Main features:
- A graphical view where each monitor is represented by a (time, measurement) colored curve
- A bar-plot view with a horizontal bar per monitor
- A column view with a column (time, measurement) diagram for each monitor
- A textual view which simply lists the monitors and the currently measured values
- A flame view which produces spiffy flames, the sizes of which are determined by the values of the monitored device
And the applet supports monitoring the following hardware characteristics:
- CPU usage (all CPUs, or one at the time) - niced background processes such as SETI@home are automatically ignored
- Memory usage - cache and buffers are automatically ignored
- Swap usage
- Load average
- Disk usage (or disk space free)
- Network throughput (Ethernet, wireless, modem, serial link), either incoming or outgoing or both
- Temperatures from internal sensors (e.g. system board and CPU temperatures)
- Fan speeds from internal sensors

bandwidth monitor 1.4

bandwidth monitor 1.4

bandwidth monitor is a small application which polls /proc/net/dev for the byte counts for a given network device. more>>
bandwidth monitor is a small application which polls /proc/net/dev for the byte counts for a given network device , and calculates the RX and TX bandwidths. Originally a shell script, then a Perl script, now rewritten in C so that it can easily be used on embedded devices like the Linksys WRT54G as well as.

This program started as a shell script that I ran on my home-brew firewall wireless router (Linux, of course, on a 486/66) to keep track of my incoming and outgoing bandwidth. This let me know that I was getting the bandwidth that I paid for, and it also helped me keep an eye on the throttling of bulk traffic so that I didnt choke out my interactive sessions. Of course, that was before I had QOS.

The program is probably tied to Linux, since it grabs the byte counts for the requested interface right from /proc/net/dev. It could pretty easily be modified to grab the same information from the output of /sbin/ifconfig, but that would waste resources to spawn a new process to parse the /proc/net/dev file and regurgitate it to us. Also, I havent bothered to look at how uniform the output of the byte counts from /sbin/ifconfig is on other operating systems.

As a side note, the C version also uses nanosleep() and gettimeofday() to get more accurate polling intervals and track the overall time (since sleep(), usleep(), nanosleep(), et. al. only guaruntee to wait at least as long as you request, but do not guaruntee that it wont be possibly much longer...) So, if you were interested in porting it, youd have to make sure that nanosleep() and gettimeofday() were also available, or lose the resolution of the time used in bandwidth calculations.

Simple Monitor 1.1

Simple Monitor 1.1

Simple Monitor is a SuperKaramba theme inspired by the simple but effective Very Simple Monitors theme. more>>
Simple Monitor is a SuperKaramba theme inspired by the simple but effective "Very Simple Monitors" theme by the user humanthing. Some values are not displayed properly though in Very Simple Monitors (network values and IP). This could be because of different setups. My computer is pretty standard so my theme should function properly on most pcs. http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=48973
I like a tight and clean desktop, so I simplified the idea even more. This theme is showing all basic information, and nothing more.
Main features:
- Processors type
- Processor speed
- Processor load (number and graph, for one proc)
- Processor Temperature
- Amount of ram used / amount of ram
- amount of swap used / amount of swap
- amound of HDD space used / amount of HDD space total (for "/root" and "/home")
- HDD temperatue (for "/hda", I could add another drive if requested)
- Computer name
- Computer ip
- Network load (up- and download, values and graph)
- Amount of transfered data thrue internet (up- and download) since last boot
Enhancements:
- Made the three blocks clickable.
- The CPU block opens Processor information
- The Memory block opens KsysGuard (youll need to have it installed to be able open it, obviously. Its in Kubuntu by default)
- the Network block opens your computers ip settings window
- Added a line for your computers uptime
- Changed font colors to very dark gray and very light gray, instead of black and white, to make it look softer.

Firewall Monitor 1.1.0

Firewall Monitor 1.1.0

Firewall Monitor allows you to monitor ipchains/iptables output in realtime. more>>
Firewall Monitor allows you to monitor ipchains/iptables output in realtime. It supports both logging to a file/stdout and/or to tcpdump format capture logs. It also supports security features such as running non-root, and chrooting itself.
Fwmon can easily be integrated into an existing ipchains ruleset. As an example, fwmon can be easily integrated into the excellently commented TrinityOS ruleset available from http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~dranch/LINUX. The enhanced logging may be selectively added to specific existing rules by adding a new user-defined rule to the default ACCEPT, REJECT and DENY rules..This program has been known in the past as "Firestorm Firewall Monitor", however it shares nothing with firestorm.
If you wish to retain current ipchains logging features which RedHat and TurboLinux among other distributions make to /var/log/messages and add the additional features of fwmon, keep the -l option (or the $LOGGING equivalent used in TrinityOS) for those rules of interest. Fwmon data will be placed in a separate file (user-configurable) via a new target of those rules for which the capability is desired. Note that this new rule will not contain the -l (or $LOGGING) flag so packets trapped by a primary rule are not logged twice by ipchains. Additionally, by retaining the ipchains logging in primary rules, the rule number that caused the logging is contained in the ipchains log entries, and not the rule number of the new chain.
As a guide for adding this new chain, the TrinityOS rule set begins with setting of various parameters used with firewalls (flag settinga in the /proc directory, loading of modules, etc) then rules are grouped in INPUT, OUTPUT and FORWARD sections. Since this new rule will be a target of other rules, it must be placed BEFORE the first rule which references it to avoid errors the first time the ruleset is loaded. We suggest that a new
section defining the rule be placed just before the INPUT rules section and consist of:
Enhancements:
- Fixed logrotate problems with libpcap files. There is still a race condition but under normal circumstances you shouldnt encounter it, Ill think about fixing it all the same.

Virtual server monitor 0.5

Virtual server monitor 0.5

Virtual server monitor (vsmon) is a monitoring tool for Linux-VServer. more>>
Virtual server monitor (vsmon) is a monitoring tool for Linux-VServer that gives a system administrator a global view of all vservers running on his park.
For now, it does not offer control over the vservers life cycle (e.g. provisioning, start, stop, and restart operations). To use vsmon, you must deploy one backend on each vserver host and one frontend, preferably in its own vserver.
Enhancements:
- The frontend was reworked to display a summary of all hosts.
- An owner can be assigned to each vserver.
- The backend can be used on hosts without Linux-VServers, and it no longer obtains IP addresses.
- The libdnet dependency was removed.
- The parsing of /proc/"pid"/stat now works for kernel 2.6.18.
- A Nagios plugin was added, which enables the use of the vsmon backend to monitor a host disk, memory, and swap.
- The plugin monitors all mount points according to an "intelligent" algorithm, which determines warning and critical thresolds as a function of the total size of the partition.

Linksys Monitor 1.2

Linksys Monitor 1.2

Linksys Monitor provides a Linksys logging and dynamic DNS IP update utility. more>>
Linksys Monitor provides a Linksys logging and dynamic DNS IP update utility.
Linksys Monitor is a POSIX-compliant application used to monitor and react to device activity of Cisco Linksys devices.
Main features:
- logging of all inbound and outbound network connections to a file (with negative filtering capabilities)
- email notification of any inbound and outbound network connection (with negative filtering capabilities)
- IP address updates to DNS services (dynamic DNS) when the device IP address changes
- email notification of IP address changes
- periodic validation and DNS service updates of the device IP address (via Web)
- highly and easily configurable, but with a very good set of default values.
Enhancements:
- Code cleanup and consolidation.
- Fixed a number of bugs related to the parsing of html responses in web IP checks and IP address updates.
- Removed the manner in which the IP address is determined from the logs. This proved too unreliable and caused to many false positives. Now it determines the IP address solely from the web mannner.
- Fixed an issue when running it on a SUSE box (recvfrom() socket call not supported).
