This module provides a simple dialog api that wraps Gtk2::Dialog objectively. The objective is a clean and simple question dialog (just "NO" and "YES" buttons).
Safe and SafeDesktop 2.2.6
Safe and SafeDesktop project are created so that a user need not remember all her login names and passwords. more>>
What is Safe?
Nowadays, every person is forced to remember lots of sensitive data to interact with machines during daily life. For instance, automatic teller machines ask for numerical passwords and email accounts are protected by using loginnames and passwords. For many good reasons passwords should be difficult to guess and every password should be used for one account only. In reality, this makes it quite difficult for the average person to remember all the different passwords. Hence, people tend to choose easy to remember passwords and many persons re-use their passwords in such a way that the same password is used for many accounts. Even worse, it is quite common to write down passwords and stick the note to a screen frame. All these facilitations of remembrance lower the burden for hackers to get access to sensitive data and abuse computers.
The idea behind Safe is that a user must not remember all her loginnames and passwords. Instead, the user utilizes her cell phone to store sensitive data in an encrypted way. Only one root password is required to be remembered to get access to the data.
This concept works pretty well, because nowadays, cell phones are ubiquitous. Usually, cell phone owners carry the phones in their pocket regardless where they are going. So, running Safe on a cell phone means that passwords have no longer be to remembered and can be chosen as difficult as it can be. The only requirement is that the cell phone in question supports J2ME applications.
What is SafeDesktop?
SafeDesktop provides the same features as Safe does but it runs on desktop machines. Java is also used for the implementation of SafeDesktop. This allows SafeDesktop to be executed on almost all modern desktop operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows, Linux).
A synchronization mechanism is part of SafeDesktop to keep the data synchronized between Safe and SafeDesktop.
How does it work?
First, a MD5 hash of the root password is stored and compared with the users input, that is requested at applications startup. If the hash of the users input is equal with the stored hash, the user input is used as key to decrypt the data.
Second, a IDEA cipher is used in CBC mode (of operation) to store data in an encrypted way. The password that the user entered at startup, is used as a key for the IDEA cipher.
Version restrictions:
- Safe and SafeDesktop have their limits. The limits are inherent - they came from the IDEA cipher, the hardware, the operating system and all the other parts that are used as a blackbox.
- But remember, there are things you can do to push the limits: review the source code of Safe and SafeDesktop. Even more security relevant: Select a difficult to remember, long and random root password. With Safe and SafeDesktop you have only to remember one password, so, make it difficult for the opposer to get access to your sensitive data.
Enhancements:
- An IPv6 problem has been fixed (no exception will be thrown when the machine uses IPv6).
- Exception handling has been improved (error messages provide hints as to what went wrong).
- A minor bug has been fixed (mainly how and when Alerts are shown).
Radio Shortest Path First 1.1
Radio Shortest Path First (RSPF) is a routing protocol for wireless networks. more>>
The current specification is RSPF version 2.2, written by Fred Goldstein K1IO. Until recently, if people were using RSPF at all, they would of been using RSPF version 2.1, which is available in the NOS program, written by Phil Karn and others. The RSPF code itself in NOS was written by Anders Klements.Thats why standard protocols dont work very well over amateur packet radio.
Now with the knowledge of how his protocol worked in real life, Fred then updated and improved RSPF to version 2.2. And, until late 1995, that was all that happened.
What did happen was that I was in my senior years in my undergraduate degree at University of Technology, Sydney and looking for an interesting Thesis. After seeing emails from Carl Makin VK1KCM asking if anyone was going to fix RSPF in NOS, this gave me my idea for my Thesis.
Enhancements:
- Control port speaks IPv6
- Made the ChangeLog prettier
- Fixed the checksum code so it works.
- Put everything through syslog()
- :s/t/ /
Google Picasa for Linux 2.2.2820-5
Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. more>>
You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organised.
Picasa also makes advanced editing simple by putting one-click fixes and powerful effects at your fingertips. And Picasa makes it a snap to share your pictures - you can email, print photos home, make gift CDs, and even post pictures on your own blog.
Toward the very end, everything was looking great except that the initial assumption that most cameras emulate storage devices turned out to be wrong. Fortunately, Marcus Meissner just happened to decide to implement libgphoto support; his patch appeared at the perfect moment, and now Picasa supports both common flavors of cameras.
Two features left out of the Linux version were CD-ROM burning (the driver Picasa uses is hard to support under Wine) and movie playback (Wine doesnt have the necessary codecs). Both are potentially fixable in a future version, but were beyond the scope of this first port.
One interesting challenge when shipping commercial apps for Linux is packaging -- do you choose RPM or Debian packages, or do you use a WIndows-style installer? The Picasa for Linux team chose all three, in hopes of pleasing everybody. (Lets see how well *that* works :-) The Windows-style installer was implemented using the open-source Loki installer, and a few patches were contributed back for that, too.

Global Menu 0.7.6
Global Menu Bar for GNOME more>>
Global Menu 0.7.6 offers you an excellent and useful product which is the globally-shared menu bar of all applications launched in your desktop session (A replacement of the old Mac-Menu package). This project introduces document-oriented concepts into GNOME, and improves GNOMEs respect for Fittss law. Most GTK applications work just fine with Global Menu. Global Menu replaces Mac Menubar for GNOME and Xfce.
Major Features:
- It works better with narrow windows, because the width of the menus isn't limited to the width of the window. (This is a problem for Gimp and Inkscape especially.)
- It's less confusing -- when two menu bars are visible on-screen at once, sometimes people choose the wrong one.
- Global Menu is the first step to move toward a Document Centric Desktop Environment ( ThoughtsOnADocumentCentricGnome ) which is a long-term trend in DEs.
Enhancements: Features many bug fixes.

Dada Mail 3.0.4 / 3.1 Alpha 1
A Web-based mailing list manager. more>>
The goal in this perspective of Dada Mail is to be able to be easily installed and useful by a web-savvy person. This person does not have to be a professional web designer/developer. It is also hoped that there is much breathing room for the program to grow with the needs and expectations of whatever organization it is to be used for.
Dada Mail is also a many-tiered art project. The initial goal was to see how far a self-taught, admittedly poor math student could take a computer program, written from scratch. The answer it seems, is very very far. The idea being played with is of a person taking on a role that doesn't seem to fit them well and flourishing. This wasn't acting, this was real life. Four Years is a Long Time.
Dada Mail is also used to question the idea on what a piece of software is and what it isn't, making definitions such as "name", "function", "purpose", slippery. The creator of Dada Mail, Justin Simoni, has many more credentials as an Artist, attending the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design as a senior in their Drawing and Painting program, than he does as a Software Engineer, of which credentials he has none, except the time he has spent with projects, like Dada Mail.
Major Features :
- Dada Mail is a Web-Based System. You don't need to remember cryptic commands to send to a special address just to have the program e-mail you back telling you youre wrong. You administrate your lists using a control panel you view through your web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
- Dada Mail Supports an Unlimited Number of Mailing Lists. Dada Mail was made from the start to be expandable. Each list can be managed separately with a different password for protection. Setting up a list can take as little as a minute to make! All list information can be changed at any time.
- Dada Mail Is Customizable. Most pages generated by Dada Mail can be wrapped in a template a look and design that you want your list to have. Dada Mail can look exactly like the rest of your web site, making less of a separate CGI script and more a part of your web site that comes alive to your visitors. Messages Dada Mail sends can also be customized, you get to word exactly how you want your messages sent. Even the signup form that you can put on any page of your web site can be changed for your taste automatically.
- Dada Mail Archives List Messages. Dada Mail keeps an archive of every mass mailing message it sends and also provides a simple way to view them. Archiving can be paused and archives can be hidden from your visitors but not from you the list owner.
- Dada Mail Supports Announce-Only and Group Lists. You can extend Dada Mail with a script that's included with Dada Mail to send list messages from your own e-mail client, like Eudora or Outlook. Group Lists can be setup easily from your control panel and you can set up a thriving group discussion list.
- Dada Mail Is Free! There is no need to have you make a decision on picking a mailing list manager by giving you a crippled "version" and then only give you the real version after you pay money for a piece of software that may not do what you really need.
- Dada Mail is Supported! This entire site is provided to answer any questions you have and help you even when your Dada is installed.
- Dada Mail is Easy To Use. Hard things are easy in Dada Mail. They should be. Features you don't need can be turned off if wanted. All error messages give you precise information on what went wrong and how to use it. Its more advice on how to do what your doing better than telling you youre wrong.
- Dada Mail is Powerful. In minutes you can set up your entire list system, with announce-only lists for special e-mailings and group lists for discussion. Dada Mail can even be enhanced with the help of other programs like Majordomo another list manager and Mhonarch, an e-mail archiver.
- Sign Up to the Skazat Design Newsletter.
- See how easy it is for your visitors to use Dada Mail. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Enhancements: This release fixes over 20 bugs since the 3.0.0 release, and is meant to be as easy to upgrade from 3.0.0 as possible.
Requirements: Perl
Geography::States 2.1
Geography::States is a Perl module with map states and provinces to their codes, and vice versa. more>>
SYNOPSIS
use Geography::States;
my $obj = Geography::States -> new (COUNTRY [, STRICT]);
EXAMPLES
my $canada = Geography::States -> new (Canada);
my $name = $canada -> state (NF); # Newfoundland.
my $code = $canada -> state (Ontario); # ON.
my ($code, $name) = $canada -> state (BC); # BC, British Columbia.
my @all_states = $canada -> state; # List code/name pairs.
This module lets you map states and provinces to their codes, and codes to names of provinces and states.
The Geography::States - new ()> call takes 1 or 2 arguments. The first, required, argument is the country we are interested in. Current supported countries are USA, Brazil, Canada, The Netherlands, and Australia. If a second non-false argument is given, we use strict mode. In non-strict mode, we will map territories and alternative codes as well, while we do not do that in strict mode. For example, if the country is USA, in non-strict mode, we will map GU to Guam, while in strict mode, neither GU and Guam will be found.
The state() method
All queries are done by calling the state method in the object. This method takes an optional argument. If an argument is given, then in scalar context, it will return the name of the state if a code of a state is given, and the code of a state, if the argument of the method is a name of a state. In list context, both the code and the state will be returned.
If no argument is given, then the state method in list context will return a list of all code/name pairs for that country. In scalar context, it will return the number of code/name pairs. Each code/name pair is a 2 element anonymous array.
Arguments can be given in a case insensitive way; if a name consists of multiple parts, the number of spaces does not matter, as long as there is some whitespace. (That is "NewYork" is wrong, but "new YORK" is fine.)

- Bug fixes and minor tweaks.
TooDooList 0.5
TooDooList is a simple TODO list theme for superkaramba. more>>
Known bugs:
- diacritics is not working
- sometimes two tasks are deleted, I dont know why, I am searching for the solution (and for the reason of this)
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
You have to have Superkaramba version 0.37 or newer for this theme to work !!!
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
When upgrading to a newer version, always delete the directory ~/.TooDoo before the first run of the theme
!!! Modifying skins
When this theme is launched for the first time, it copies the default skins to the directory "~/.TooDoo" and creates the file "~/TooDoo/TooDoo_list.txt" for storing data. If you want to create your own theme, you have to:
1. modify the images in the directory ~/.TooDoo/default (or old)
2. modify the config file ~/.TooDoo/default/skinConf.py (this file contains constants for sizes and positions of the images and labels of the skin)
3. restart the TooDoo theme (you no longer need to resart whole superkaramba) to view the result
If anything goes wrong, delete the directory ~/.TooDoo and everything should be okay
I would also like to thank Shanodyn for ceating the default design... THANKS A LOT !!!
