AA Helper Library 0.1

AA Helper Library 0.1

AA Helper Library is a basic library of helper functions for AAlib. more>>
AA Helper Library is a basic library of helper functions for AAlib.

Inspiration that started this is AAJM, when I implemented circles and lines. More or less on a whim, I turned it into a more convincing project.

Yes, Im fully aware of the existence of libcaca. A few things:

1. Libcacas picture definition isnt as good as aalibs - as the designer of libcaca stated, its designed to make colors work right on ascii displays, rather than necessarily the shapes. For a simple example of this, run cacafire next to aafire on a screen at the same time

2. AA Helper addresses most of libcacas other good points - sprites and graphics primitives, primarily

3. If youre at the point where you feel the urge to even start this argument, youve got bigger issues than whether or not a text-mode library is as good as another

Control C or Linux 1.3

Control C or Linux 1.3

Monitor all data on your clipboard. more>> What is ControlC? Its pretty simple actually. Have you ever copied something on a webpage or in an email that you later needed to look at again but couldnt remember where you saw it?
Have you ever copied a link to a webpage and couldnt for the life of you remember the link later on?
ControlC fixes that. Anytime you copy textual content, ControlC will upload that text to our server to store under your account. When the text is uploaded, it is encrypted using your password as the key (which we will never have access to). When you need to retrieve the text, or would like to share it with other users, you can login to your account and make the items public, or simply review them for your own needs.
You can search other users copied links and text to find other people that share the same interests as you. You can make friendship relationships with other users, and star items of interest to make finding them again easy. You are encouraged to social interact with other users on our site - you will be surprised what you can find when you do!

Ethwireck 1.2

Ethwireck 1.2

Laptops which use dynamic IP address assignment via DHCP have the problem that the boot process is much longer. more>>
Laptops which use dynamic IP address assignment via DHCP have the problem that the boot process is much longer when no wire is connected to the Ethernet card. This is because the startup scripts have to wait for the DHCP request to time out.

ethwireck can detect if the physical layer of the Ethernet is up. This can then be used in the init script for your network card to determine whether or not an interface should be brought up. In other words a timeout is avoided.

ethwireck is similar to mii-tool but it can work with more ethernet cards (not only drivers with an mii interface).

Note: I discovered recently that ethwireck does not work with all cards as expected. The problem seems to be that some cards support the interface but do not report the status as expected. I am currently invesitgating this problem. Wait for ethwireck-1.3.

To install it:
run
make
make install
or to not install to /usr/sbin/ethwireck but to /opt you can use
make PREFIX=/opt install

So far I have tested ethwireck only with 2.4.x Kernels. Probably
it will also work with 2.6.x Kernels but I have not used it
on a 2.6.x Kernel.

Fact Or Fiction 1.0

Fact Or Fiction 1.0

Fact Or Fiction is a deck editor for the popular trading card game more>>
Fact Or Fiction is a deck editor for the popular trading card game "Magic: The Gathering".
Fact Or Fiction project can be useful for organizing and keeping track of your cards.
It supports card filtering, automatic image loading, deck sorting, and quick entry.
Images:
Card images are automatically downloaded from internet sites. Take a look at the screenshot to see the settings necessary to access Gatherer for the images.
Be aware that Oracle text files do not provide the set of the cards. Therefore a given lists of subdirectories is searched for the card image. To allow rapid deck entry this is done in a background process.
This dialog will also allow you to set your proxy settings to download the images.
Enhancements:
- This release is in sync with the "Dissension" edition of Magic: the Gathering.
- Unglued and Unhinged cards have strange names, and some issues with picture download were fixed.
- The homepage was updated with the correct workflow to build a working (UTF8 encoded) Oracle.
- The size of the edition list control was decreased.
- Dissension mana symbols were added.
- Dissension was added to the initial download list.
- Image scaling was reworked to use bilinear filtering.

Network Query Tool 1.9

Network Query Tool 1.9

Network Query Tool is a one-stop solution for obtaining information about a domain name or an IP address. more>>
Network Query Tool is a one-stop solution for obtaining information about a domain name or an IP address.
Instead of manually using a variety of shell commands, or visiting numerous websites to investigate a host, just load Network Query Tool in your browser and enter the hostname or IP. NQT does the rest, as is evidenced by this sample output.
Main features:
- Reverse lookup - resolves an IP address to a hostname (if one exists) or vice versa
- DNS query - aka Dig, requires a dig binary on your system
- Whois (WWW) - gets domain registration information. Now supporting just about every known TLD, gTLD, and ccTLD.
- Whois (IP) - gets IP owner information. Supports all IP blocks maintained by ARIN (US), RIPE (Europe), JPNIC (Japan), APNIC (China/Asia-Pacific), BRNIC (Brazil), LACNIC (Latin America), AFRINIC (Africa), and KRNIC (Korea).
- Check port - Determine whether or not a port on the target host is open. Defaults to port 80.
- Ping - performs a 5-packet ping to the target, requires a ping binary.
- Traceroute - performs a traceroute to the target, requires a traceroute binary.

Event 1.09

Event 1.09

Event is an Event loop processing. more>>
Event is an Event loop processing.

SYNOPSIS

use Event qw(loop unloop);

# initialize application
Event->flavor(attribute => value, ...);

my $ret = loop();

# and some callback will call
unloop(ok);

The Event module provide a central facility to watch for various types of events and invoke a callback when these events occur. The idea is to delay the handling of events so that they may be dispatched in priority order when it is safe for callbacks to execute.

Events (in the ordinary sense of the word) are detected by watchers, which reify them as events (in the special Event module sense). For clarity, the former type of events may be called "source events", and the latter "target events". Source events, such as signals arriving, happen whether or not they are being watched. If a source event occurs which a watcher is actively watching then the watcher generates a corresponding target event. Target events are only created by watchers. If several watchers are interested in the same source event then each will generate their own target event. Hence, any particular source event may result in zero, one, two, or any number of target events: the same as the number of watchers which were actively watching for it.

Target events are queued to be processed in priority order (priority being determined by the creating watcher) and in FIFO order among events of the same priority. Queued ("pending") events can, in some cases, be cancelled before being processed. A queued event is processed by being passed to the callback function (or method on a particular object or class) which was specified to the watcher.

A watcher, once created, operates autonomously without the Event user having to retain any reference to it. However, keeping a reference makes it possible to modify most of the watchers characteristics. A watcher can be switched between active and inactive states. When inactive, it does not generate target events.

Some types of source event are not reified as target events immediately. Signals received, for example, are counted initially. The counted signals are reified at certain execution points. Hence, signal events may be processed out of order, and if handled carelessly, on the wrong side of a state change in event handling. A useful way to view this is that occurrence of the source event is not actually the arrival of the signal but is triggered by the counting of the signal.
Reification can be forced when necessary. The schedule on which some other events are created is non-obvious. This is especially the case with watchers that watch for a condition rather than an event. In some cases, target events are generated on a schedule that depends on the operation of the event loop.

wwtk 1.0

wwtk 1.0

wwtk is a wizard-style Web interface for structured information trails. more>>
wwtk is a wizard-style Web interface for structured information trails - an n-ary decision tree structure based on true/false logic.

wwtk project can be used as a Wizard, an expert system, or as a backend for interactive fiction.

Structure

This toolkit is essentially based around the single script, index.php. It is designed to present data in a wizard-like format, that is, as a set of linked nodes. These nodes are stored in the questions.xml file, and can be added to and rearranged (it may seem initially confusing, but think of it as a linked list and all will hopefully become clear).

Glossary

The glossary, by contrast, is stored in a simple text file (toolkit.txt/glossary.inc), and is simply read as a semi-colon separated variables file.

To add to this, just add a line in the appropriate place as follows:

word; definition; url for further information

Any line that begins with a hash (#) is simply a comment and is ignored.

It is important that when adding to it, alphabetical order is preserved (or run the file through unix sort) - since this is not done when the values are displayed. If alphabetical order is broken in the file, the items will not appear in the expected order.

One further piece of information about the glossary; in the functionlib.php include file, you will find a richInclude and a printGlossary function. richInclude is used to include the html files (to be introduced shortly). It simply searches through the html file looking for keywords in the glossary, and when it finds them, it adds that glossary entry to the bottom of that article. printGlossary, on the other hand, simply prints every single entry in the glossary regardless of whether or not it is used; this is used for the print and report modes of this software.

Editing HTML

You will notice that NO HTML CAN BE ADDED to the questions.xml file. This is because, to ensure compatibility with virtually any server (lack of specifications time here!) the XML is actually being parsed within the script, rather than using a more grown-up parser. Within these limitations, it was simpler to put long snippets of HTML in their own files. You will therefore find that some nodes have a value set in a < resultFile >< /resultFile > couplet - this file is included from the ./html subdirectory.

When you alter HTML, either within these files or within the header scripts, please note that the site is intended to validate as XHTML Strict!!

Certain text is stored within the toolkit_text directory - probably the easiest way to get to grips with the location of stored text is to make liberal use of grep -R * -e whatever.

Editing CSS

There are two CSS files. boldblue2.css is the original file; print.css is the print mode of the page. Both ought to validate successfully.
