Object Extensions for PHP 0.1 Beta

Object Extensions for PHP 0.1 Beta

Object Extensions for PHP provides several classes that add runtime object extension and callbacks to the language. more>>
Object Extensions for PHP provides several classes that add runtime object extension and callbacks to the language. Object Extensions for PHP allows the programmer to add methods and properties to an object at runtime by dynamically extending by another object.

It also allows the creation of object property lists that allow for dynamic setting/getting of values in a fashion similar to JavaScript objects. These object property lists support basic value checking.

The Object Extensions library for PHP adds the following functionality to objects that extend the base class:

- Runtime object extension to "extend" an object by another class at runtime (to virtually inherit all public properties and methods).
- Runtime callback definitions to be able to pass function/method callbacks as variables, and subsequently execute them from other function/methods.
- Dynamic object properties class to handle runtime setting/getting of object properties, as well as ability to pass function arguments as object-based parameters rather than long list of options.

OBJECT EXTENSION:

- Base class (CExtendable) implements a _extend() function by which you may vritually extend an object by an instance of another object.
- Extended object (object passed to _extend) can reference parent object if supported by extended class.
- __get, __set and __call are all overriden to handle overriding undefined properties and methods
- Ability to reference a callback in a straightforward manner ($object->_callback()->method(args, [...]))

CALLBACK FUNCTIONALITY:

- Can create callbacks directly (through CCallback and derived classes)
- Can create method callbacks by calling _callback() method on CExtendable objects
- When combined with object extension and object properties, can provide a really easy way to execute callbacks.

OBJECT PROPERTIES:

- Base class extends ArrayIterator, all properties saved in an array
- Basic functionality to check values provided and/or set default values.
- Overrides __get, __set to get/set object properties.
- Can limit property set-tability to existing properties only, or to provided array of properties.
- Can enable read-only mode.
- Overrides __call, and in the case that the a property value with the same name as the method name exists, and is an instance of the ICallback interface, this callback is executed.

PHP COMPATIBILITY:

Object Extensions for PHP uses PHP5 functionality. It would be theoretically possible to implement similar functionality into PHP4, however, since I no longer develop in PHP4, I cannot properly test it.

The amaroK bindings for Python 0.1.0

The amaroK bindings for Python 0.1.0

The amaroK bindings for Python is a fairly complete amaroK remote control class. more>>
The amaroK bindings for Python is a fairly complete amaroK remote control class. It is extremely useful for amaroK scripts and other applications. Basically, you can remote control amaroK by calling methods from an amaroKProxy instance.

In addition, it implements the Observer/Observable pattern so you can deal with events in an object-oriented, loosely coupled fashion. Even better, you can call an amaroKProxy instances collection.getSong(filename) method to get a Song object, with track, artist, album name, and elegant "Artist - Track name" strings.

Nearly all DCOP functions for communication with amaroK are implemented.

It will use KDE bindings DCOP module if available, otherwise it will default to the command-line DCOP dcop command, through python-commandsplus. If using KDE bindings, a slave process is spawned, and IPC is used to marshal and unmarshal function calls, so as to not contaminate your applications sys.modules with KDEs Python modules. This all happens automatically in the background.

To use it, you import the module in your script and instantiate an amaroKProxy instance, then call your instances startMonitoring() method, which will start reading from standard input, monitoring for amaroKs events. You can then sleep(1) until your instances .isAlive() method returns False (which means amaroK is now gone.

amaroKProxy is an Observable class, and so are its members:

- player
- contextBrowser

This means that you can implement Observer objects or Threads in your amaroK script, and have them be notified of amaroK events, instead of having to read standard input and act accordingly (plus error-prone exceptional condition handling).

Operator 0.7 for Firefox

Operator 0.7 for Firefox

Operator is a Firefox extension that lets you combine information on Web sites with applications in ways that are useful. more>>
Operator is a Firefox extension that lets you combine information on Web sites with applications in ways that are useful.

For instance, Flickr + Google Maps, Upcoming.org + Google Calendar, Yahoo! Local + your address book, and many more possibilities and permutations.

All of these scenarios are possible due to Microformats, an emerging standard for injecting semantics into HTML.

You can use Operator to debug your microformats. Holding down the Ctrl key when you select a microformat action will show you the HTML that corresponds to that microformat. In addition, holding down the Shift key when you select a microformat action will display our internal representation of the microformat data.

If a microformat doesnt show up, but you believe there is one, it might be because the microformat is invalid. You can turn on debug mode in options to see invalid microformats.

Also, Operator was designed to be extensible. You can add more microformats and more handlers for existing microformats. For more information, check out handler-example.js and microformat-example.js in the Operator extension directory after you have installed Operator. New microformats and handlers should be placed in a directory called "microformats" in your profile directory.

I understand that I used a different way to do the translation for this version of the extension (JS file). For the next version, I will move the translation into a properties file.

Versatile Cursors for GNUemacs is a set of emacs commands managing an more>>
Versatile Cursors for GNUemacs is a set of emacs commands managing an "item" cursor (e.g. a word, expression, sentence, or defun).
Versatile Cursors for GNUemacs quickly re-assigns the cursor keys between these as needed. Built on this are high-level actions such as converting code blocks to separate functions.
This provides elegant and concise editing, and is pedal- and voice-friendly.
Main features:
- A block (or region) cursor, with motion and text selection by semantically significant units e.g. statements, statement parts, sentences, phrases, table rows and cells
- Editing in terms of these (e.g. ``Make the selected code conditional or ``Delete the selected text)
- Easy access to these through flexible, dynamic, rebinding of the arrow keys and others, with easy ways to navigate the space of possible navigation spaces
- High-level editing operations such as:
- Converting an expression to a local variable initialized to that value
- Converting a block of code to a procedure/function, working out automatically what parameters are required
- Means to access these (and other) navigation and editing commands through a narrow-channel interface such as footswitches (suitable for disability access, including RSI)
- Voice access setup for use with emacs-vr-mode
Enhancements:
- Mostly bug fixes, including a long-standing one for the mode changing wrongly on coming out of the minibuffer.

Velocity for Linux 1.5

Velocity for Linux 1.5

a Java-based template engine more>> Velocity is a Java-based template engine. It permits anyone to use a simple yet powerful template language to reference objects defined in Java code.
When Velocity is used for web development, Web designers can work in parallel with Java programmers to develop web sites according to the Model-View-Controller (MVC) model, meaning that web page designers can focus solely on creating a site that looks good, and programmers can focus solely on writing top-notch code. Velocity separates Java code from the web pages, making the web site more maintainable over its lifespan and providing a viable alternative to Java Server Pages (JSPs) or PHP.
Velocitys capabilities reach well beyond the realm of the web; for example, it can be used to generate SQL, PostScript and XML (see Anakia for more information on XML transformations) from templates. It can be used either as a standalone utility for generating source code and reports, or as an integrated component of other systems. For instance, Velocity provides template services for the Turbine web application framework, together resulting in a view engine facilitating development of web applications according to a true MVC model.

interface preprocessor for PHP 0.2.10

interface preprocessor for PHP 0.2.10

interface preprocessor for PHP are methods to create user interfaces in PHP. more>>
ippfp is an easy-to-use library which provides oo-methods for creating and rendering user interfaces in PHP independently from output format. It features HTML, GTK, PDF and ncurses.
You can create input masks such as forms for databases or other user interfaces. ippfp features abstraction, elements can be accessed like data structures, they have values and various attributes.
For me ippfp is a construction kit to build software quickly.
Another purpose could be the automatically generation by software.
You can select one of these packages to display:
- HTML
- PDF
- GTK
- ncurses
Available elements:
- button
- checkbox
- choice
- fopen (file open)
- grid
- image
- label (readonly text)
- link
- multiplechoice
- password
- radio
- text
- textarea
- table
The library puts the elements together in a frame. For HTML a HTML page will be created which contains the elements, GTK and ncurses have appropriate windows. The data of elements will be stored in session variables.
One does not need to care for details of formats like HTML-tags or GTK-classes. For navigating within a program the button element should be used. To arrange elements the elements "grid" or rather "table" are the right choices.
Elements are created with the "create"-functions which are members of the ippfp main instance and returns objects respective to the goal. To make them visible they will be grouped in a "view" which will be given to the ippfp main instance for processing.
This is a flexible way because an existing element can be used in several views. Thus, elements will be included by reference, not by copy. The advantages are: if an element is in a state, it is independent from the current view and related informations are available globally.
For example: create a text element:
$myText = $ippfp->createText("default", 20, "my_text");
...
echo $myText->getValue();
Your code should be organised into php functions. For example if a button is used, it calls the function given as attribute. It is expedient to integrate your views into this functions.
Enhancements:
- switched from html to xhtml, format identifier is XHTML
- a simple debug function added, for internal debugging, writes messages into a file (usefull for ncurses)
- pdf passes the "tabellentest", tables and grids can extend over a big number of pages, and can contain big text
- some bugfixes in xhtml and pdf

amaroKopeteBR is an amaroK plugin based on the amaroKopete plugin but translated into portuguese. more>>
amaroKopeteBR is an amaroK plugin based on the amaroKopete plugin, except that this one is translated into Portuguese (pt_BR) and it has some aditional features like if you put a couple of # between that name patterns (#Album %m# for the album, for example), the plugin will only put that on your nickname if that song is tagged with that field.

If the field is null, it will skip the whole sentence between the #. It also can put this sentence on your status message, not on your nickname.

Another feature is when you pause or stop the music, your Kopete status will change to Away, and when you begin to play it again, it will change to online.

Solaris::MapDev 0.05a

Solaris::MapDev 0.05a

Solaris::MapDev Perl module contains a map between instance numbers and device names. more>>
Solaris::MapDev Perl module contains a map between instance numbers and device names.

SYNOPSIS

use Solaris::MapDev qw(inst_to_dev dev_to_inst);
my $disk = inst_to_dev("sd0");
my $nfs = inst_to_dev("nfs123");
my $inst = dev_to_inst("c0t0d0s0");
mapdev_data_files(path_to_inst => "/copy/of/a/path_to_inst",
mnttab => "/copy/of/a/mnttab",
dev_ls => { "/dev/rdsk" => "ls-lR/of/dev_dsk",
"/dev/rmt" => "ls-lR/of/dev_rmt" });
my $tape = inst_to_dev("st1");

This module maps both ways between device instance names (e.g. sd0) and /dev entries (e.g. c0t0d0). Vanilla SCSI disks, SSA disks, A1000, A3000, A3500 and A5000 disks are all catered for, as are tape devices and NFS mounts.

FUNCTIONS

inst_to_dev($inst)

Return the device name name given the instance name

dev_to_inst($dev)

Return the instance name given the device name

get_inst_names

Return a sorted list of all the instance names

get_dev_names

Return a sorted list of all the device names

mapdev_data_files

This tells mapdev to use data held in copies of the real datafiles, rather than the current "live" files on the system. This is useful for example when examining explorer output. A list of key-value pairs is expected as the arguments. Valid keys-value pairs are:

path_to_inst => "/copy/of/a/path_to_inst",

A valid path_to_inst file. This is mandatory.

mnttab => "/copy/of/a/mnttab",

A valid /etc/mnttab file. This is optional - if not
specified, no information on NFS devices will be displayed.

dev_ls => { "/dir/path" => "/ls-lR/of/dir/path",
... });

A hash containing path/datafile pairs. The paths should
be one of /dev/rdsk, /dev/osa/rdsk, /dev/osa/dev/rdsk or
/dev/rmt. The datafiles should be the output of a "ls -l"
of the specified directory. A single file containing a
recursive "ls -Rl" of /dev is also acceptable.

mapdev_system_files

This tells mapdev to revert to using the current "live" datafiles on the system - see "mapdev_data_files()"
