Automated support for compound RPC calls 0.2

Automated support for compound RPC calls 0.2

Automated support for compound RPC calls is a project which augments RPCGEN to support NFSv4-style compound procedures. more>>
Automated support for compound RPC calls is a project which augments RPCGEN to support NFSv4-style compound procedures.

NFSv4 specifies that the RPC calls be batched into a "compound" call. There is no support for this in RPCGEN.

By rearranging the ONC IDL for NFSv4 into AutoGen definitions, these templates will emit the original IDL *plus* all the code to package, send, distribute, collect, return, and dispatch the results.

The distributed program author merely needs to call and supply server procedures for the routines specified in the IDL.

Templates for these calls and service routines is provided, too. The NFSv4 definitions are included.

Play What I Mean 0.09

Play What I Mean 0.09

Play What I Mean plays media files on a local machine based on a given set of terms found within the filenames. more>>
Play What I Mean project allows a user to, from a single commandline or terminal, enter a string, or list of strings, that represent what he/she wishes to have played by whatsoever media player he chooses, the default being MPlayer, and then having that particular item be found and played.
What this essentially means is that if I were to have a sudden hankering to listen to a particular song or video, lets say Ice Pick by The Pillows, which happens to be the song to a particular music video that I enjoy watching. Under the traditional methods of video viewing I would be stuck with two potential courses of action for playing this particular file:
- Change directories several times to that one folder somewhere that I "know" its in, or
- Point and Click my mouse until I find that same directory and then search through what could be countless files to find it.
Each of these prospective choices have their own inherent difficulties and ire. Using the commandline often requires alot of typing to arrive at the desired directory, often times nestled deep within the tree.
Once there your problems only multiply by the number of files you actually store in your "media" folder, try ls | moreing through a heavily populated folder looking for the name of that file you wanted to play sometime, it isnt too fun and further is a waste of my valuable time.
You may be thinking at this point that the second option, the graphical one, must be easier since its exciting, full of pictures, and frankly novel, I disagree. I may not be the best judge on this matter, seeing as how I cant see out of my right eye however, I feel that scanning through a large folder, or folders, full of files is quite a strain on the vision, and more importantly an unnescesary burden on what should be a simple matter.
Main features:
- Nestable Playlist support
- Multi-string arguments
- Transparent command option passing
- Cache for faster access of frequently played files
- Graphical configure

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. more>>
LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. LINGOT is easy to use, accurate, and highly configurable. Originally conceived to tune electric guitars, its configurability gives it a more general character. (Tuning another instruments has not been tested).
It looks like an analogic tuner, with a gauge indicating the relative shift to a certain note --found automatically as the closest note to the estimated frequency--, indicating that note and its frequency.
The note will be found automatically, since the program hasnt any manual function mode (indicating the note to tune manually), for mantaining its general purpose.
We recommend using the tuner in conjunction with a sound mixer for selecting the desired recording source and the signal recording levels.
Main features:
- Accurate.
- Easy to use. Just plug in your instrument and run tuner.
- Very configurable via GUI. Its possible to change any parameter while the program is running, without editing any file.
- It works in an automatic way. It isnt necessary specify the note to tune; the program guesses it.
- Its free software. It has GPL license.
- Tuning other instruments than guitars is possible. Since this program guesses the note you are playing, it can be used to tune a piano, a bass, a violin, etc.
Enhancements:
- Files have been reorganized to a more "GNU-like" structure.
- Multi-lingual support has been added.

A MP3 LEnder 0.5.7

A MP3 LEnder 0.5.7

AMPLE is short for A MP3 LEnder. more>>
AMPLE is short for "A MP3 LEnder". I wrote AMPLE one summer when I was coding for a company and got fed up with having to FTP over all my MP3 files from my home server to the computer at work just to listen to them. And through the other "MP3 servers" I could find didnt fit my needs for one of the following reasons:
Depended on libfoo, libbar, python, perl, php3, Apache, libssl, etc, etc, etc...I just wanted to listen to the files
Had a lot of features for "DJ:ing" etc that I really didnt need. Well....it was fun to write too.
So whats good with AMPLE?
Small, standalone (written in C using no external libraries)
Portable (I think), I often try to compile it on the SourceForge compile farms
Allows you to listen to your own MP3s away from home, nothing more, nothing less
This is beginning to sound like marketing cr*p so Ill just stop right there, check out the links on the left for more info.
Enhancements:
- There are only two fixes in this release. One is a compilation fix for Solaris and the other one is a security fix. Turns out a buffer used for local communication didnt have sufficient checks. User data isnt written without checks though so the worst that can happen is that huge amounts of memory is allocated. The socket was also bound to the loopback device so it should only be locally abuseable.

Petals on a Rose 1.0

Petals on a Rose 1.0

Petals on a Rose is an intriguing puzzle game for all ages. more>>
Petals on a Rose is an intriguing puzzle game for all ages. This website claims that Bill Gates was stumped by it for two days. Its usually played with a group of friends and a set of 5 dice. The game master rolls the dice and tells everyone the answer. This computer version of the puzzle works similarly, only in this case the computer plays as the game master.

To play you just double click the icon to start the program. Type your guess in the "Answer" field and press "Check". If your guess is correct you get congratulated, otherwise you need to try again. If you get tired of guessing you can press the "Give Up" button and youll get the answer to that particular roll.

Just press the "Roll Dice" button at any time to get a new set of numbers.

Always remember, dont tell the answer to anyone!

Have fun, and good luck.

Antiprism 0.15

Antiprism 0.15

Antiprism is a suite of programs for the generation, manipulation, and visualisation of polyhedra. more>>
Antiprism project is a suite of programs for the generation, manipulation, and visualisation of polyhedra.
Make a cube
This can be done with unipoly, which can be used to make all the uniform polyhedra.
unipoly cube > cube.off
Display with
off2pov -o cube.pov cube.off
povray +a +p cube.pov
Make the dual octahedron
pol_recip is used for making duals by polar reciprocation.
To make a nice compound the radius of the sphere used for reciprocation needs to be the distance from the cube centre to the mid-point of an edge, and the sphere centre must be the centre of the cube.
unipoly has centred the cube on (0, 0, 0), which is the default centre for pol_recip. The radius can be specified using the -R option and passing two adjacent vertex index numbers of the cube. Use off2pov with the -n option to display the cube with its vertex numbers.
off2pov -x vf -n -o cube.pov cube.off
povray +a +p cube.pov
Vertices 3 and 5 are adjacent, so make the dual octahedron like this, and display it.
pol_recip -R 3,5 cube.off > oct.off
off2pov -o oct.pov oct.off
povray +a +p oct.pov
Merge the polyhedra
OFF files are merged with off_merge
off_util cube.off oct.off > cub_oct.off
Display the result.
off2pov -o cub_oct.pov cub_oct.off
povray +a +p cub_oct.pov
Use colours
To make it clearer that this is a compound of a cube and octahedron the two polyhedra could be given different colours using off_color.
Colour the cube faces red, and the octahedron faces green.
off_color -f 1,0,0 cube.off > red_cube.off
off_color -f 0,1,0 oct.off > green_oct.off
Now merge and display as before, this time making the edge and vertex elements smaller than the defaults
off_util red_cube.off green_oct.off > color_cub_oct.off
off2pov -v 0.02 -e 0.016 -o color_cub_oct.pov color_cub_oct.off
povray +a +p color_cub_oct.pov
Enhancements:
- Edge handling has been improved.
- The GLU tesselator is used for all polygon tesselation, making polygon display more consistent in export formats.
- The minimum enclosing ball is used for camera positioning, allowing better use of screen space.
- Special duals can be calculated automatically.
- There is a new program which spirals points on a sphere, and another which arranges points in rings on a sphere.

Jinamp Is Not An Mp3 Player 1.0.5

Jinamp Is Not An Mp3 Player 1.0.5

Jinamp is primarily a music shuffler for command line junkies. more>>
Jinamp is primarily a music shuffler for command line junkies. Jinamp runs in the background and does not require X or even a terminal.
A control program allows limited control over the playing (pause, next song, etc., but no seeking).
The actual playing is done by other programs, so it can be adapted for other purposes, such as shuffling video clips for advertising.
Enhancements:
- The control tools have been improved, in particular making once-off song requests possible.

A Small MUD 1.3

A Small MUD 1.3

A Small MUD is a minimal MUD implementation. more>>
A Small MUD project is a minimal MUD implementation.

A Small MUD is a minimal MUD implementation, with some mildly intelligent mobs running around creating rooms.

A few pointers when reading the source code... the World class contains the "cells" in the dungeon - all those are created randomly by the mobs.

The MobFactory class contains and controls all mobs in the world - the class holds a reference to the World class.

Cells are specified by the World::CELL struct and mobs by the MobFactory::MOB struct. The SmallHandler class contains the World, MobFactory, and active sockets list (via SocketHandler).

Finally, the SmallSocket class handles all socket communication and the ListenSocket template class acts as the socket listen server.

NetStats Baseball 0.9.1

NetStats Baseball 0.9.1

NetStats Baseball project consists of a simulation of major league baseball. more>>
NetStats Baseball project consists of a simulation of major league baseball.
NetStats Baseball is a simulation of major league baseball which will play single games and entire seasons.
It will keep statistics for the individual players and the teams. It will keep track of the season schedule as well as seasonal and lifetime records.
Enhancements:
- Separate two compound assignments where x and x++ were used; this technically isnt well-defined in C and could cause portability problems
- Fix a call of strncpy() to strcpy()
- Remove prototypes for string.h functions in editdata/glob.h; replace with an include of the standard header (causes potential portability problems since these arent declared the same way on all systems)
- correct possible segfault after the welcome screen
- code cleanup
- include current half inning on game-play display
- no parameters now acceptable with client (playbb) ..in this case client connects to localhost
- "help" is printable
- real-life season results are available
- implement autoconf

GMP compiler 1.0.0

GMP compiler 1.0.0

GMP compiler tool simplifies the use of GMP, the GNU multiple precision library. more>>
GMP compiler tool simplifies the use of GMP, the GNU multiple precision library. It scans a C source file for specially marked GMPS arithmetic expressions and replaces them with plain C.
The abbreviation gmpc stands for GMP compiler, or alternatively GMPS-to-C compiler. GMPS arithmetic expressions are straightforward infix expressions which transparently support the special types mpq_t, mpz_t and mpf_t as defined by GMP. GMPS means, rather unimaginatively, `GMP script.
No dependencies are added to the resulting C source, so there is no need to include additional header files or link with special libraries other than GMP.
Invoking gmpc
To translate a .gmpc file to C source, at least the input and output files must be given. The most concise invocation would look like this:
gmpc -o foo.c foo.gmpc
This will translate foo.gmpc into foo.c.
It is highly recommended to enable all warnings with the -Wall switch:
gmpc -Wall -o foo.gmpc foo.c
Other switches can be used to change the default behaviour of gmpc. They are listed in the following sections.
Enhancements:
- Added support for C-like compound assignments, increment and decrement operators.
- Fixed an assignment precedence bug.
- Temporary variables and constants are grouped together to make generated code more readable.
- Added Doxygen comments and configuration file.
