pmacct is a small set of passive network monitoring tools to measure, account and aggregate IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. more>>
pmacct is a small set of passive network monitoring tools to measure, account and aggregate IPv4 and IPv6 traffic; aggregation revolves around the key concept of primitives (VLAN id, source and destination MAC addresses, hosts, networks, AS numbers, ports, IP protocol and ToS/DSCP field are supported) which may be arbitrarily combined to build custom aggregation methods; support for historical data breakdown, triggers and packet tagging, filtering and sampling.
Aggregates can be stored into memory tables, SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) or simply printed to stdout. Data is collected from the network either using libpcap (and optionally promiscuous mode) or reading NetFlow v1/v5/v7/v8/v9 and sFlow v2/v4/v5 datagrams, both unicast and multicast.
IP accounting is the key in ISP/IXP network operations like billing, graphing network resources usage, live or historical traffic analysis, handling of network thresholds, provisioning and SLA monitoring. SNMP counters sometime are not this useful because of their coarse granularity.
Finer granularities become valuable if data are historical and match logical entities of interest such as Autonomous System Numbers, departmental or customer network chunks, specific traffic flows, etc. Further, actual large-scale networks are able to produce, in very short times, high amounts of data that become quickly difficult to be processed in a meaningful way
In this context, traffic aggregation and advanced filtering and sampling capabilities are requirements that cannot be missed anymore.
Either using memory or SQL tables as backend storage, pmacct can easily feed data to tools like MRTG, RRDtool, Cacti and Gnuplot among the others. A little scripting abilities are required to glue pmacct with external tools and a number of sample scripts and some tutorials are already available.

PHP Content Management System 1.2.1pl2
PHP Content Management System is a content management system that provides dynamic menus and templates. more>>
phpCMS is a content management system, which convinces in particular by small system requirements, high performance and above all its flexibility.
phpCMS is suitable for small private web pages and also for complex professional appearances and high traffic websites including the integration of webservices and external applications.
Admitted - the flexibility of phpCMS makes the life not always easy for beginners - nevertheless for professionals, who rather want to create an unique website then clicking unflexible template blocks together, phpCMS gives all the freedom a webdesigner needs to support his creativity. This might be a reason, why even several webdesign companies are using phpCMS to create their own company website.
And the best of all is: phpCMS is Open Source (licensed unter the GPL)and is free of any charges available - more cost-efficiently a CMS can not be.
phpCMS is more than just a content management system - it is a mixture of a template engine, a content management system and an application framework.
phpCMS simplifies a lot of tasks for the maintenance of complex web sites with the automatic updating of the sitemap, the central administration of menu entries, or the provision of a comprehensive text search. And it gives you a good basis to separate layout and form from the actual content of your pages, another big simplification in a webmasters job.
Changes to the layout or of the menu structure have only to be made in one central place and have immediate effect on all web pages. Also the integration of external applications into the layout of your web site is possible - thanks to the possibility of direct integration of PHP scripts, as well as to the Webgrab module (allowing you to integrate almost any application that is addressable via HTTP without depending on the programming language used in that application). Many plug-ins and scripts extend phpCMS by useful functions and features and make the webmasters task easier.
phpCMS is no "drag and drop" web site toolkit, but it helps even the inexperienced HTML author to quickly create a web site.
Contrary to the so-called portal systems, that very often limit you to compose your web site from prefabricated modules only by clicking on check boxes and options, phpCMS offers a flexible framework in which you can integrate existing applications - but on the other hand that demands a bit more skills.
We rather believe in not to integrate everything into the system (forum, web shop, news system, picture gallery, ..., just name it), but to concentrate our work on the phpCMS core system and to make that so flexible that you can integrate the forum, the picture gallery etc. of your own choice with ease into your phpCMS-powered web site.
We are convinced that it is more sensible to offer to the user the possibility to integrate the application in each area that suites her/him best than to offer a system that can do everything, but binds you to applications of our choice, and might not fulfill the users needs or expectations.

SME Server 7.2
e-smith is a server-oriented distribution. more>>
The SME Server server and gateway is free software (also referred to as open-source software) and is freely available for anyone to download.
This software is brought to you by the community and contribs.org. Many individuals and organizations (both commercial and non-profit) use the SME Server as their primary network server and gateway.
We would like to remind you that the SME Server software is licensed under the General Public License (GPL). This means that if you alter the software and distribute the altered version, you must make the source code for your altered version freely available.
The GPL is a large part of why free software has made such an impact on the commercial scene. By restricting anyone from making proprietary modifications, the GPL ensures that improvements find their way back to the original code base, thereby creating an explosive rate of technical advance.
The difference between traditional development and GPL development is the difference between a light bulb - where output is radiated in many directions - and a laser - where output is reflected back in a coherent way to produce a greater, more focused result.
Its main design focus is simple, centralized configuration, along with security and ease of installation.
Enhancements:
- This release is based on CentOS 4.5 and all packages have been updated to the latest releases. This release contains many new features, all released updates for SME Server 7.1 and fixes for many reported problems. Upgrades will be available by CD, the Software Installer and command line. All users should upgrade to this release.

mod_ntlm 0.4
mod_ntlm is NTLM authentication for Apache / Unix. more>>
mod_ntlm is NTLM authentication for Apache / Unix.
Installation:
You have to be root to compile and install mod_ntlm.c successfully. You need a ready-to-run apache distribution installed. Go to the source distribution directory of mod_ntlm and enter:
make install && make restart
The Makefile is using apxs to compile and install mod_ntlm. Certain versions of apxs are known to fail unter certain versions of SuSE Linux.
It works fine for me with SuSE Linux 6.3 and Solaris 2.6, no other platforms have been tested y
Version restrictions:
- Basic authentication against SMB server is not supported. There are enough modules that do this and you need https to make it safe.
- Internet Explorer 3.0 (broken keepalive) is not supported, its about time to get a new browsers. Those users should have taken their computers away for using year old software.
- You can produce a problem by pressing reload fast and often. The connection is forced into reset each time, and sometimes Internet Explorer is sending a msg3 to an apache process that didnt send the msg1 yet. Im not sure weather this is an apache or Linux or IE problem. It could be resolved by caching credentials, which is unsafe and involves neat things like file locking and mmap().
Enhancements:
- Apache 1.3.x

JSTUN 0.6.1
JSTUN is a STUN Through Network Address Translation implementation. more>>
JSTUN project is a java based STUN (Simple Traversal of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) Through Network Address Translation (NAT)) implementation. STUN provides applications a mean to discover the presence and type of firewalls or NATs between them and the public internet.
Additionally, in presence of a NAT STUN can be used by applications to learn the public Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to the NAT.
So far, most of the message headers and attributes as standardized in RFC 3489 are part of "JSTUN". The current "JSTUN" version also includes a STUN-Client to discover firewalls and NATs. "JSTUN" is licensed unter GNU Gerneral Public License.
Version restrictions:
- Due to the lack of RFC compliant STUN servers I could not test the shared secret request / response functionality. Additionally, the message attribute username, password and message integrity are not tested for the same reason. The implementation of the message attribute message integrity is not completed, because I see no reason to add a cryptographic library as long as no public available STUN server supports message integrity.
- The reality is not as dark as it might seem after reading the previous section. All tested STUN servers provided a minimal set of functionality that is required to discover firewalls and NATs.
- If you find a bug or if you implement enhancements or additional functionalities please do not hesitate to contact me by email. A CVS account can be provided if required.
