Free water quality software for linux

Deep-Water Linux is a half minimalist software distribution using the linux kernel released under the terms of the gnu gpl license v2.

Originaly i designed it for myself to make my work a bit easyer - it was a few years ago when there were not so many live distributions that fit my needs - i needed something more than "minimal" but not something that would need more than 2-3 minutes to load requireing hardware, that i couldnt afford.

So i designed a small system for myself that i could use whenever i broke my "harddisk" distro so much, that it was impossible to repair the system from inside of it. I started using the system as a sort of a rescue system and i installed it on my computer as a sort of a neighbour to other systems that i have used.

Then i thought other people might find it interesting, if not as a whole, than atleast a part of it, or maybe they might like to use it for some "rescue job". I was messing arround with xlib and tcl/tk, so i added some programs to ease a users life - like a panel, icons, file-manager. You see, i thought it is stupid to just copy someones work and then re-distribute it in my name - i hate the kind of distros where the "developers" just change the background of some well known distro and then give it a new name.

In my distro you wont find so many tools, it evean might not work good, it evean can make you angry "make you laugh, or cry", but atleast i can say, that many things in this system is my work - i programmed deep-panel/ deep-view/ deep-icons/ made a new hackedbox"a hack of blackbox"/designed the startup and many other things.

There are 2 version-types of the distro - the first copying the whole system in the memmory and the second copying only a part of itself - the first is for people with older hardware with little memmory and the second for boxes with memmory atleast 128MB. I know that there are many systems out there that are better and im not saying that its good to use this distro on an everyday basis, but if you find some inspiration in it, or if you use it as a rescue system, or want to use deep-view to browse/edit some files or to display image galleries and your "real" system is broke, if you find any use of it than im happy enough.

KGLWaterSaver is a screensaver that looks like a water-talbe.
Main features:
- Choose between Images or the current Desktop to "sink under water"
- Various effects: Whirl, Bubble, Rain
Installation:
Download, compile and install.
Go to the Control Panel and choose KGLWaterSaver, set it up to use your favourite Image or Desktop and fit the performance of your computer.
(Takes 10% CPU-Time at my Duron 700 / GeForce FX 5700 at: water_res of 128x128, 24 WaterCalcs, 64ms Delay Realtime) (config dialog will probably [hopefully be more intuitive in following versions)

Adaptive Quality of Service Architecture (AQuoSA) is an open architecture for the provisioning of adaptive Quality of Service functionality into the Linux kernel. The project features a flexible, portable, lightweight and open architecture for supporting soft real-time applications with facilities related to timing guarantees and QoS, on the top of a general-purpose operating system as Linux.
At the core of the architecture there is an adaptive resource reservation layer that is capable of dynamically adapting the CPU allocation for QoS aware applications based on their run-time requirements.
Timing guarantees are provided through an in-kernel reservation based process scheduler, whose services are exposed to applications through a well-designed API.
A supervisor performs admission control, so that admitting into the system new applications with timing guarantees does not affect the timing guarantees of already admitted applications. Also, it takes care of guaranteeing appropriate security policies in the assignment of timing guarantees to users and user groups, as configured by the system administrator.
A feedback-based QoS control layer may be optionally used by applications who want to keep their timing guarantees by using a CPU allocation that is continuously adapted according to their actual needs. This leaverages the programmer, within certain limits, to hard-code any particular reservation amount within the application, because the best allocation is found out automatically at run-time. Also, this enhances the possibilities for the system to host additional QoS controlled applications. The available control algorithms are well founded on formal scheduling models and control theoretical results.
Enhancements:
- This release introduces a couple of flags useful when creating servers. If QOS_F_PERSISTENT is enabled, a server is allowed to exist beyond detach of the last task. If QOS_F_SOFT is enabled, a server tasks are scheduled by the Linux default scheduler/policy, when outside of the server reservation.
- Also, various stability issues in destroying servers have been fixed, also thanks to a new release of the generic scheduler patch for the Linux kernel (gs-2.2).

QAA is a XUL Mozilla Firefox extension that performs a user supplied test list on a Web application. Test sessions can be defined by example.
A report is generated when sessions are replayed.
Enhancements:
- This release can load and save .qaa files (Quality Assurance Agent file format), record a journey in the tested site using definition by example, and perform a test bench with a log style report.

Kwotes is a chat quote database system with a twist.

The quotes are publicly moderated, so its up to you to maintain the quality. All quotes are accepted and if their ranking falls too low for too long, they are deleted.

JPEG Fit is a PHP class that can be used to optimize images to fit within a given file size limit. The project takes a picture in any format supported by the GD library and generates a JPEG picture with the maximum quality factor that makes the picture file size not exceed a given limit.

This class is similar to the JPEG Reducer class. It uses the binary search algorithm to reach the ideal quality factor in the smallest number of iterations.

The class stops searching when a given number of limit iterations is reached, or when the quality factor difference between the ideal and the found values is less than the configured precision value

XWT Widgets provides a set of high quality widgets and themes for XWT.

XWT Widgets is a set of GUI widgets written for the XWT Project. The goals of these widgets are to be high quality, highly themeable, extensible, and very easy to use tools for XWT application developers.

XWT is a remote GUI platform that runs anywhere while being fast and responsive, and aims to be the future of Web services.

Themes that closely match (and in some cases improve upon) native widget sets are to be bundled with the XWT Widgets, although currently only a Monopoly theme is available.
