JACK Meterbridge is a meterbridge for the UNIX based JACK audio system.
It supports a number of different types of meter, rendered using the SDL library and user-editable pixmaps.
Supported meters

Approximatly conforming to BS 6840-10. These meters are designed to indicate peak amplitude, as opposed to VU meters which are designed to indicate volume.
The scale is correct according to the standard, 4 equates to 0dB, 1 to -12, 7 to +12, and it is linear with decibels.
Ive never used a real PPM meter, so I dont know if it reacts correctly. Feedback welcome.

Conforming to BS 6840-17:1991. Real meter is larger.
These meters are designed to measure the "volume" of an audio signal, it is not as relevant to digital systems as PPM meters, but is useful if you are interfacing to analogue tape, FM broadcast equipment or want a general idea of the signal volume.
The -r flag (set reference level) is usful with these meters as it will allow you to calibrate to your DA converters. The meter is pre-adjusted so that it should allign correctly calibrated DA converters with analogue systems. If you wish to run with 0dBFS = 0dBu then use "-r 20"
DPM - Digital Peak Meter
Conforming to IEC 268-18:1995 (peak indiciator decay may not be correct).
These are meters as typically seen on digital consoles, HD recorders etc.
There are the most efficient in screen realestate and CPU use but look a bit boring.
JF - "Jellyfish" Meter (aka. Goniometer)
A jellyfish meter is a stereo scope display, it can be used to spot phase and mono compatibility problems.
Some charateristic problems can be seen, eg. a signal with a stronger left channel is seen as a shape sloping to the left [], more right slopes to the right [/], and dead mono is a vertical line [|].
The meter below the scope display indicates the degree of stereo correlation between the channels, a value of +1 means that it is perfectly mono compatible, and -1 and that the channels are in anti-phase (so they will cancel out if mixed).
If someone has better examples, please mail them to me, there are probably tutorials online.

It has a basic trigger function, but there is no timebase control. It renders one pixel per sample, so it will probably be next to useless at 96KHz

Jack Meter is a basic console based DPM (Digital Peak Meter) for JACK. I wrote it for quickly checking remote signal levels, without having to run X11 to use a pretty graphical meter such as meterbridge.
Usage
Usage jack_meter [-f freqency] [-r ref-level] [-w width] [-n] [< port >, ...]
where -f is how often to update the meter per second (8)
-r is the reference signal level for 0dB on the meter
-w is how wide to make the meter (79)
-n changes mode to output meter level as number in decibels
< port > the ports to monitor (multiple ports are mixed)
Enhancements:

Score Reading Trainer helps you improve your (musical) score reading skills by practicing with random scores.
It works in a very simple way, you choose the clef, the key and the accidentals you want to practice as well as thee range of notes and then, the program generates a on-screen score with that parameters but randomizing the notes and the accidentals (and everything else that is randomizable).
The keys of the keyboard are mapped to the notes like in a piano (it would be nice to support midi in the future) and all you have to do, is press the right key for the first note you see in the score on the screen.
If you pressed the right key, the note will disapear and replaced by the second one, a diferent note, and you have to repeat the process.
As the notes are generated randomly, theres no way one can predict the following note and since several notes (as much as the screen allows) are on the screen, one can also train pre-reading (reading ahead of the current one) of the notes.
The program doesnt emit any sound (at least, yet) and its not inteded to teach rithmic or melodic concepts.

Idea for this plugin came from similar plugin for winamp called Homeboy analog VU meter, and ideas how to write plugin to xmms from MSA plugin.
At first I only wanted to make something, that would look like the real thing, but as time passed, I have tried to make it also behave like it actually did something useful.
So what you are actually seeing is dBFS value for sound, which means RMS value of soundlevel compared to reference ((2^16-1)/2). Values range from 0 dBFS (highest) to -91 dBFS (lowest).

The Linux SMP kernel uses spinlocks to protect data structures from concurrent, potentially conflicting accesses. Linux Kernel Spinlock Metering is a kernel patch that allows you to build an i386, ia64, Alpha, Sparc64, or mips64 kernel that can perform simple "metering" (record-keeping) of spinlock usage. Also available is source for an associated new command, lockstat, that is used to instruct the kernel to turn this lock metering on or off, and to retrieve the metering data from the kernel and display it in a human-readable format.
Data displayed includes the number of lock attempts, per-spinlock per-caller, the number of those attempts that were immediately successful vs. those that required the attempting locker to wait for the current lock-holder to release; the mean and max hold-time, and the mean, max, and cumulative wait-time. Whenever possible, the locking caller and the spinlocks are identified by their symbolic names, not by their virtual addresses.
Various patch sets are available. Version 1.1.4 patches the 2.2.14 kernel and reflects a relatively old flavor of Lockmeter. Version 1.4.11 patches the 2.4.16, 2.4.17, 2.5.3, and 2.5.5 kernels, and the previous release v1.4.9 patches various other releases of the 2.4.x kernel. This version 1.4 supports i386, alpha, ia64, mips64, and sparc64. The most recent version 1.5 is available as a patch against the 2.4.18 and various 2.5.x kernels, and it additionally supports mips (32-bit mips). Each is approximately 22 KB in gziped size. (Patches against a few older kernel versions are also available in the old subdirectory.) After applying the appropriate patch, make oldconfig presents a new Kernel lock metering option in the Kernel hacking subsection -- although only if CONFIG_SMP (Symmetric multi-processing support) has been enabled. The spinlock metering code is compiled into the kernel only when this new option is turned on.
Compiling the spinlock metering code into the kernel does not materially affect the kernel size because the additional code is roughly compensated for by the shrinking effect of the normally in-line locking routines now becoming procedure calls. A metering-capable kernel (i.e., with the patch applied, but data collection turned off) is negligibly slower than a non-metering-capable kernel, though a metering-capable kernel does slow when the metering data collection is turned on using the lockstat command (typically 8% for a systime==25% workload). Care has been taken to minimize performance degradation, and further improvements are in progress.
The lockstat command must also be downloaded, compiled, and installed. lockstat is a privileged command that requires root access. It reads and writes to the node /proc/lockmeter to control the kernels metering as follows:
lockstat on enables the kernels metering data collection,
lockstat options displays the collected data, and
lockstat off disables the metering data collection.
Run lockstat with no arguments to see a verbose description of the command arguments and options.
When metering is enabled, count and time data is collected in malloced arrays that are private to each CPU, thereby avoiding costly cacheblock coherency operations that would otherwise be required if all CPUs updated the same count and time fields. The lockstat command accumulates and sorts the per-cpu data at display time.
Lockmetering attempts to provide both "cause" and "effect" information about spinlock usage. The "hold time" metering exposes which spinlocks are being held and for how long, identified by where they are held inside the kernel. The "wait-time" metering exposes the effects of these hold-times when multiple CPUs concurrently contend for the same lock.

gnetload network load meter project is a network and ISDN load meter that is similar to xisdnload, but works in a distributed environment.
It includes an agent (devstata) that runs on machines with interfaces to be monitored and periodically sends status information over the network. A display program (gnetload) collects and displays the data.
Both can be run on the same machine, or be used to report on the state of a dedicated router on another machine. Using multicast or broadcast addresses, data can be fed to more than one instance of gnetload. A menu for taking network interfaces up and down is also provided.
Usage: ./gnetload [-I] [-t tickscale] [-g geometry] [-d] [ip]:port
Enhancements:
- The config script was updated to build with GTK2 and GCONF2 where available.
- There are no other code changes.
