wallpaperChooser is a small application for managing your wallpapers. It has the ability to store wallpapers, preview them, and set them on the desktop.

CWallpaper is a front end for fbsetbg, Esetroot, feh, and other wallpaper changers. This application can also change the wallpaper for Roxs pinboard, and will work with any root wallpaper changer.

Wallpaper Tray is a wallpaper utility that sits on the GNOME panel.

The project gives you a random wallpaper from a chosen directory at logon, on a timer, and allows you to select a new wallpaper at random from its menu.

UPDATE: I have had reports from users on Ubuntu that Wallpaper Tray is broken, something about the config dialog not appearing. It works fine on FC5. It also works on FC6. I suspect that the Ubuntu package needs rebuilding, hopefully this will happen for 0.5.3.

From here on in, I wont be touch packages, I will support the Autopackage project, which is designed to support the distribution of non core programs like mine.

Wallpaper Tray, as the name suggests, used to be live in the Notification Area. The Notification Area was never really meant for programs such as this, so the latest release uses the Gnome Panel. The last of 0.4.x series is still available however, for those that would rather stick with this way of working.

ChangeWallpaper application has two scripts for change your background in Gnome, from a Folder with several images or from art.gnome.org

This application is two scripts. One of them changes the wallpaper of your Gnome desktop from a Folder of your election. This script hence the necessary of wallpapers on that folder.

The second one, and for me the best, change your background with a random one selected from art.gnome.org.

For both of them you must select the softlink that its generated the first time you run it, and the add the script to you session manager, with this every time you boot your PC and log into your account you will see a new background.

Wallpapoz tool enables your Gnome desktop to have different wallpapers for different workspaces or virtual desktops. It offers quick orientation cues where you are. The other reason is to increase eye candy. In this version, it support randomization.

It means you can group your wallpapers into spesific workspaces. You can manage it so that your cartoon wallpapers will be randomize for certain times in workspace one, your nature wallpapers in workspace two, your adult wallpapers in workspace three and your Gnome wallpapers in workspace four.

There are two programs. One is the daemon that will monitor your desktop continuously. So when you change workspace or specified time has passed, the daemon wil change your desktop wallpaper.

The daemon it self reads your wallpapers list and preferation then acts according to that. The configuration file is written in xml format. Of course you can edit with any text editor but that is not convenient.

To make it easy, there is another program to edit this configuration file. Click the button, find the wallpapers that you would like to put into spesific workspace. Please see the screenshot to see how it works.

The daemon program name is daemon_wallpapoz.py. You need to add this program into Gnome start up programs list if you want every time you log into Gnome session, your Gnome desktop will have the ability to have different wallpapers for different workspaces. But first you need to make the configuration file by using program that called wallpapoz.py.

Wchange provides a very simple wallpaper changer.

It requires only java runtime environment (JRE) and gconftool-2.

Usage:

java Wchange /home/folder/pictures/ seconds [random]

Where:

/home/folder/pictures/ is the directory where are wallpapers

seconds is how much time the system will wait between wallpaper switching

random (optional) use it only if you want wallpaper random switching

GNU MAC Changer project consists of an utility for manipulating MAC addresses of network interfaces.

To use the app just

#cp otc /usr/bin

It presumes your theme directory is located at /usr/share/oroborus/themes - if it is located anywhere else then change the value prefix in the otc file.

If you dont have an .oroborusrc file in your home directory then it will create one for you.
