ViewPortageX 1.51
ViewPortageX is a karamba theme written in Python and designed for every Gentooist out there! more>>
ViewPortageX is a karamba theme written in Python and designed for every Gentooist out there!
It parses gentoo.packages.org and gives you uptodate informations about the updates in the portage-tree.
You can select an option to display packages you have installed on your system only. This way you have always an overview, what emerge -p world would print out if you sync now.
This made me syncing only once in a week instead of once a day. This is reached through a database, which stores all new packages in a database and you can watch them when they moved out of the packages.gentoo.org list long ago.
But this is not all, ViewPortageX gives you all features that packages.gentoo.org provide.
You can search through the portage-tree and you can select a package and view its versions and keywords.
Main features:
- automatic updates itself if I release new versions
- minimizes traffic by parsing only packages, that are really new and not the whole packages.gentoo.org-site
- saves all fetched data in database that uses the cpickel-libary, which means fast writeout and readin of the package-data
- completly themeable by using my widget-libary, which makes it easiere to create dynamic interfaces with karamba
- it knows which packages you have installed and displays them boldly (or only them), because updates to installed packages are the ones that really interst you
- this theme is not a static information displayer, you have many interaction possibilities; you use this theme, not just watch it
- the only karamba-theme I know that provides checkboxes and comboboxes
- probably I forgot many things, try it out
KNOWN BUGS:
- When reloading the theme in a running superkaramba instance, the pagebutton bar at the bottom is missing.
This is a ugly bug, for which I have no explanation.
(probably a bug in superkaramba)
- When doing an automatic update under KDE 3.5.1 superkaramba will lock completly. You have to kill it with killall -9 superkaramba and start superkaramba again. This is a bug in superkaramba und KDE 3.5.1.
SO BE CAREFUL USING THIS WITH KDE 3.5.1

1. up => display the ancestor tree
for the given goid.
2. down => display the descendant tree
for the given goid.
By default, it will display the
descendant tree.
-geneUrl No The URL for each Gene to link to.
It needs to have the text in
the url which will be substituted
by the real goid for a node.
-nodeUrl No The url for each GO node to link to.
It needs to have the text in

Jet Set Willy X 20061231
Jet Set Willy X is a game for Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, playable on emulators. more>>
Jet Set Willy X is a game for Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, playable on emulators. Jet Set Willy X is heavily inspired by Jet Set Willy.
There are no guardians and ropes, but the animation is twice as fast, absolutely smooth, and there is a 2-channel background tune.
The rooms are 20 characters high instead of 16, and can have a more complicated combination of graphics characters. There are 69 rooms and over 390 items to collect.
Differences from Jet Set Willy
- There are no guardians, however there are places where you are probably going to swear even without them.
- The guy walks twice as fast, the animation is smooth 50Hz instead of 25Hz, the guy has twice as much positions and the sprites are a bit different
- There are no ropes
- There is a 2-channel tune instead of 1-channel
- The guy can fall through a 1-character hole
- The rooms are 20 chars high instead of 16
- There are much more available different characters in one room
- The attributes in the room are not used to encode meaning of the characters, they can be set arbitrarily
- What happens after the game is completed is a bit more fun
- The jump looks a bit different
- When the guy enters a room from sideways, he doesnt start 1 character away from the edge, but at the edge
- The kill and collect sounds are different
- The kill and collect events generate an effect in the border
- The main voice of the tune continues playing during the kill or collect sound
- The initial scrolling of text is pixel-smooth
- There are 69 rooms and over 390 items to collect
The screenshot and the description are released under the terms of GFDL license.

Save The Penguins 0.02
Save The Penguins is a crazy space shooter with penguins and flying saucers. more>>
Save The Penguins is a crazy space shooter with penguins and flying saucers.
This is inspired by "Save The Gweeks" for the Archimedes, in which you saved the gweeks from the snerds. I havent had access to the original, so how close it is I couldnt say.
You control this sphere/circle/whatever with the mouse. Left click to acellerate towards the cursor. Right click to fire lasers. Middle click to pause. Esc to Quit.
The idea is to kill the space ships before they either kill you or all the penguins.
The art for the penguins came from Pingus, the tileset was ripped from supertux.
If anyone would like to contribute levels/art/sound that would be cool.
Main features:
- Scrolling, moving and shooting.
- Tileset defined in simple configuration file
- Loading/Saving level to file with in-game level editor (press E).
- Objects (that is, non-static ones) get damaged when you hit them. The penguins explode in a pile of blood.
- Reasonable collision detection - you have to at least try to get it stuck.
- NEW!! Nice particle-based explosions. Saves me both needing a graphic for it, and it looks pretty cool
- NEW!! Powerups. Dont do much atm. One heals you, the other two hurt you by different amounts. Theres a hook to attach a sound to powerup/powerdown for when I get round to it.

killppp 1.0
killppp purpose is to kill ppp pid after n time of no traffic. more>>
killppp purpose is to kill ppp pid after n time of no traffic. This is especially useful for dial-up users who pay per time-unit of being connected. The typical use for it, is to start a large download along with killppp and go away. The script will shut down ppp after the downloading is done. Thus saving unnecessary cost of unused network connectivity.
Depending on how your linux is configured you may need to be root to have the right to kill a ppp process and it may have to be the ppp daemon (pppd).
To find the pid of your ppp process type: ps aux | grep ppp
How this script works? Once activated, killppp checks every minute for network traffic on the ppp0 device. As long as data is passing through, killppp does nothing. Upon no traffic killppp starts counting time until it reaches the specified time and kills the ppp process.
killppp [-hl] < pid > < n >s|m|h|d
