Versatile Cursors for GNUemacs is a set of emacs commands managing an "item" cursor (e.g. a word, expression, sentence, or defun).
Versatile Cursors for GNUemacs quickly re-assigns the cursor keys between these as needed. Built on this are high-level actions such as converting code blocks to separate functions.
This provides elegant and concise editing, and is pedal- and voice-friendly.
Main features:
- A block (or region) cursor, with motion and text selection by semantically significant units e.g. statements, statement parts, sentences, phrases, table rows and cells
- Editing in terms of these (e.g. ``Make the selected code conditional or ``Delete the selected text)
- Easy access to these through flexible, dynamic, rebinding of the arrow keys and others, with easy ways to navigate the space of possible navigation spaces
- High-level editing operations such as:
- Converting an expression to a local variable initialized to that value
- Converting a block of code to a procedure/function, working out automatically what parameters are required
- Means to access these (and other) navigation and editing commands through a narrow-channel interface such as footswitches (suitable for disability access, including RSI)
- Voice access setup for use with emacs-vr-mode
Enhancements:
- Mostly bug fixes, including a long-standing one for the mode changing wrongly on coming out of the minibuffer.

ULTILEX 2.1.0 brings users a versatile Live CD Linux distribution which contains other Live Linux distributions, such as Slax, Finnix, Puppy or DSL. You can boot ULTILEX from CD/DVD, as well as from USB device.

When you boot, the first thing you see is a beautiful startup screen where you can choose which Live Linux distribution to run. The current version of ULTILEX is 2.1.0 and it "wraps" the following Live Linux distributions:

• Finnix 92.1
• System Rescue CD 1.1.6
• Puppy Linux 4.1.2
• Damn Small Linux 4.1.10

To install on USB flash device, follow these steps (applied from Slax):

• Copy all files and folders from the CD to the root folder of your USB flash device.
• Execute "/boot/bootinst.sh" (for Linux), or " oot ootinst.bat" (for Windows).
• Thats all. You are ready to boot ULTILEX from your USB flash device!

Major Features:

CurlyAnkles is a versatile library written in C on GNU/Linux. CurlyAnkles has been written for GTK/GNOME and features a number of advanced features not found in the base GTK library. These include docking widgets and customisable toolbars and menus.

Dstat project is a versatile replacement for iostat, vmstat and ifstat. Dstat overcomes some of the limitations and adds some extra features.
Dstat allows you to view all of your system resources instantly, you can eg. compare disk usage in combination with interrupts from your IDE controller, or compare the network bandwidth numbers directly with the disk throughput (in the same interval).
Dstat also cleverly gives you the most detailed information in columns and clearly indicates in what magnitude and unit the output is displayed. Less confusion, less mistakes.
Dstat is also unique in letting you aggregate block device throughput for a certain diskset or network bandwidth for a group of interfaces, ie. you can see the throughput for all the block devices that make up a single filesystem or storage system.
You can customize your dstat output from /etc/dstat.conf and you can write your own dstat modules to plug into the dstat output.
Dstats output by default is optimized for being interpreted by humans in real-time, however the new CSV output allows you to store CSV output to a file to be imported later into Gnumeric or Excel to generate graphs.

Manitou-Mail is an open source database-driven mail user-agent and associated utilities. Manitou-Mail project provides a framework and programs for storing, exposing, and managing mail as organized data in a PostgreSQL database. It can be viewed as a versatile alternative to an imap-aware client using imap server storage.
Companies or organizations that use organization-wide mailboxes such as info, support, sales... and need to share the work between the people processing them, monitor and analyze the flow of messages, or even hook their other databases to the messaging system.
Experienced personal users that are willing to put a database at the center of their mail architecture, thus getting powerful retrieval capabilities, extended categorizing of messages, open representation of the mail as structured data.
The user interface runs on Unix/X11 and MS-Windows and is connected to the database, not the mail system. An independant Perl daemon process, controllable by an administrator, is responsible for fetching and sending the mail.

Snippets is a versatile CGI script that allows administrators to turn a large amount of static content into a small amount of dynamic content, and users to have an editable quote of the day. Its a cross between a fortune cookie program and a wiki. Snippets can be used for much more than memorable quotes, though; Snippets can be used to show people, or remind them of:

- Friends to write/e-mail/call
- Long-term to do items
- Places to visit
- Books to read
- Favorite pictures
- Etc.
