Nameko 1.3.1 (NamekoAttachmentsRetriever)

Nameko 1.3.1 (NamekoAttachmentsRetriever)

Nameko is a set of tools for working with e-mails in PHP. more>>
Nameko is a set of tools for working with e-mails in PHP.
The core of Nameko is composed by a set of classes for retrieve mail from a POP3 server, and parsing them to get the body (both in plain text and HTML, if included) and the attachments.
The class to retrieve e-mails from a POP3 server is NamekoPop3Interface; once you get an e-mail with this class in raw format, you can parse it with the NamekoMailParser class to get all its parts.
But there is much more. There are some special build with this classes to do directly some special tasks.
Using the NamekoAttachmentsRetriever class you can retrieve attachments directly from a mailbox. The project is based on both NamekoPop3Interface (to get the e-mail from the POP3 server) and NamekoMailParser (to parse the mail looking for attachments).
Nameko technology
Nameko is a set of PHP classes. It requires PHP 5 at server side: it doesnt work with older version of PHP.
At the client side Nameko require a browser that support Javascript and CSS. The best choose is Firefox, or one of the other Gecko based browsers such as Mozilla or Netscape Navigator. It also works with Opera, Konqueror and Internet Explorer, for both Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms. I know there are some problem with browsers for Mac, and Im working to fix them.
The communication between the browser and the server it has been used the AJAX technology, XML and JSON: that make the interface to be more responsive and hopefully easier to use. Im working also on a traditional interface, to make the webmail accessible also for older and textual browsers.
Enhancements:
- The class NamekoMailParser has been upgraded to version 1.3.1.

GWC is an application to do digital audio restoration on wavfile data, i.e. remove hisses and clicks. more>>
GWC is an application to do digital audio restoration on wavfile data, i.e. remove hisses and clicks. It features click repair using least squares autoregressive interpolation, and is based on the FFTW library. This is still beta code, so back up your data files first.
It is resulting of never wanting to boot to MS windows again. The only reason I had left was because I have this wonderful software to record digital audio, and the dehiss and declick using some very cool software (COOLEDIT 2000) and (Declick by M. Paar), to do the audio restoration.
I checked out some of the ongoing projects in linux, and either they crashed a lot or, didnt do what I needed, so I started this effort out of selfishness and also as a mechanism to learn the GNOME API for GUI programming . A lot of the code shows the efforts of that learning curve, and could certainly be cleaned up, but the I am personally pleased with the overall design. The goals are simple -- denoise, dehiss and amplify audio files. With the use of libsndfile, you can now do this on a multitude of audio formats, wav, au, aiff, ...
For those of you interested, I started working up a presentation describing the technical aspects of the audio restoration methods used in GWC.
Untar the source tarball (tar -xvzf )
Enter the directory created.
Run "./configure"
Run "make".
Run "make install".
"gwc" is the program file. All you have to do is run it.
Enhancements:
- BUGFIX: Ok. I messed up. The save changes stuff on exit was broken. Hopefully fixed now.

CPAN::Cache 0.02

CPAN::Cache 0.02

CPAN::Cache is a Perl module abstract locally-cached logical subset of a CPAN mirror. more>>
CPAN::Cache is a Perl module abstract locally-cached logical subset of a CPAN mirror.

There have been any number of scripts and modules written that contain as part of their functionality some form of locally stored partial mirror of the CPAN dataset.

CPAN::Cache does the same thing, except that in addition it has the feature that the downloading and storage of CPAN data is all that it does, so it should not introduce any additional dependencies or bloat, and should be much easier to reuse that existing modules, which generally are more task-specific.

The intent is that this module will be usable by everything that is in the business of pulling modules from CPAN, storing them locally, and doing something with them.

In this way, it really does little other than mirror data from a remote URI, except that CPAN::Cache also provides some additional intelligence about which files are and are not static (will never change) which arent, and is typed specifically as a mirror of CPAN, instead of any other sort of mirror.

By building this module as a seperate distribution, it is hoped we can improve seperation of concerns in the CPAN-related modules and ensure cleaner, smaller, and more robust tools that interact with the CPAN in the most correct ways.

Authenticated User Community project is a CGI-based intranet system for K-12 settings.

AUC (Authenticated User Community) is an intranet system designed for use in an educational organization but is also useful in many other settings.

It offers the ability for users to have a uniform web-based interface to discussion forums, e-mail (similar to hotmail, etc.), file management, and a searchable user database.

Also, "Interactive Classrooms" provide a means for students and teachers to have a web-based extension to their in-class interaction.

The system runs from a C-based monolithic CGI script. MySQL is used for database storage. Also, the web-based mail client supports MIME parts/attachments, IMAP, mbox, and multiple mail folders.

Natrium Engine Beta01

Natrium Engine Beta01

Natrium Engine tracks groups of parts by letting users define the relationships between parts. more>>
Natrium Engine project tracks groups of parts by letting users define the relationships between parts. Users create definitions for configurations and parts.

These are joined together to form a rule for parts in configurations. When a part is removed from or added to a configuration, all children of that part are also transferred. This has special applications to "living" inventory, or groups of disparate parts that need to be tracked as a group rather than individually.

For example, if a carburetor is made a separate configuration from an engine, then when removing it all parts associated with the carburetor are also removed. A facility is provided for tracking user-defined line-item costs of each part.

KMail Power Tools 0.3

KMail Power Tools 0.3

KMail Power Tools is meant to be a suite of enhancements to KMail and may be other mail user agents. more>>
KMail Power Tools is meant to be a suite of enhancements to KMail and may be other mail user agents.
It is currently composed of only one (perl) script that acts as a filter (take input from stdin, outputs the modified mail to stdout), adds dialog boxes to kmail, and allows the user to:
- remove all attachments from an email (no user interaction),
- remove selectively attachments, after asking the user,
detach (i.e. save then remove) any attachment to a directory chosen by the user,
- hence reducing the size of your mailbox, while allowing you to backup important attached files.
All these actions are logged within a sentence in the mail body (see below).
Note: removing and detaching is already supported by Thunderbird, but my favourite mailer program is KMail, then...
How it works
KMail allows the definition of filters (like any other email program), but you can define filters:
- which are launched manually,
- which can be programs reading your email on stdin and outputing the result on stdout (or "pipe through").
So I had the idea to use this in order to enhance KMail, and allow it to remove and detach attachments: kmailpt will read and interpret the email (thank you Perl MIME::Parser), then depending on the command line switches, popup a dialog box to ask the user for a directory where to save attachments, and ask him which attachment to remove/detach (thank you Kdialog!).
Also, the sentence "[Attachment removed by jice (26/02/2007 20:33:01): bill.zip]" will be added to the mail body. When you detach an email, it will add a similar sentence, and if the mail body is html, you will even get a link to the new location of the file: "[Attachment saved by jice (26/02/2007 20:36:17) to heavenly.gif]", on which you can even click in order to view the detached file. For text/plain messages, the sentence will be something like: "[Attachment saved by jice (26/02/2007 20:36:17) to file:///home/jice/Images/heavenly.gif]" (unfortunately, although kmail renders http:// or ftp:// urls as links, file:// are not (yet?) - I should enter a bug on bugs.kde.org for this...).
Should you want to know the currently available command line switches, here is the help:
Usage: kmailpt [options]
kmailpt takes an email on stdin, performs actions based
on this mail, then output an email on stdout.
Without any option, it will remove any file attached.
Options:
-d detach the attachments (save and remove)
-q ask which attachment to remove
-h prints this help

Bayesian Noise Reduction Library 2.0.3

Bayesian Noise Reduction Library 2.0.3

Bayesian Noise Reduction Library is an implementation of the Bayesian Noise Reduction algorithm. more>>
libbnr is an implementation of the Bayesian Noise Reduction (BNR) algorithm. All samples of text contain some degree of noise (data which is either intentionally or unintentionally irrelevant to accurate statistical analysis of the sample where removal of the data would result in a cleaner analysis).

The Bayesian noise reduction algorithm provides a means of cleaner machine learning by providing more useful data, which ultimately leads to better sample analysis. With the noisy data removed from the sample, what is left is only data relevant to the classification. libbnr can be linked in with your classifier and called using the standard C interface.
