Open LMS project consists of a learning management system.
OpenLMS is a Learning Management System (LMS) made at the Department of Geography, NTNU.
The system is a fully functional LMS with support for group collaboration, file sharing, distribution of lectures, and other supporting features.
It is a good tool for distributing lecture notes to groups of students, and for facilitating collaboration for groups of students and teachers.
The system has successfully been used at the Dept. of Geography at NTNU in Trondheim Norway, for three years. It is continuously further developed and was released as OpenSource software last year.
OpenLMS now supports English (core language) and Norwegian. Steps has been taken to translate for further languages.
Scorm, Dublin Core, AICC etc. could be important factors in systems like OpenLMS and similar LMS/LCMS. Support for exporting objects for these standards will probably be incorporated into OpenLMS. HOWEVER - the focus of standards for the exchange of learning objects often overshadows the lack of a culture for sharing within the organizations in question.
This very resource-demanding part of a LMS/LCMS is therefore not focused at the present stage in the development.

Open-RJ is an library that implements readers for the Record-Jar structured text file format. Mappings are provided to several languages and technologies, including C++, COM, D, Java, .NET, Python, Ruby, and STL.
In addition to platform-independence, the library focuses on small runtime costs - memory and speed - and the classic UNIX attributes of discoverability and visibility.
As described in the excellent book "The Art Of UNIX Programming", a Record-Jar structured format file consists of records and fields.
A field is a single line - optionally extended with trailing - that contains a name, separated from an optional value by :.
A record is a list of fields, whose contents are arbitrary and can vary between records in the same database. Records are separated by a line that begins with "%%". The record separator also acts as a comment, so anything can come on a record separator line after the first two characters.
A database is a correctly parsed Record-Jar file. The Open-RJ API (and language mappings) provide access to all the records in the database and the complete set of fields. Hence, you may work with fields on a per-record basis, or treat the database as a single record and with all fields in the database.
A very simple Record-Jar file, representing a Pets Database, is shown in the table on the right-hand side of this page.
And thats pretty much all there is to it. There are no restrictions on what fields may be in a record, and no controls over whether all records have the same fields or not. Thats the job of higher layers of application functionality. We keep Record-Jar simple so its reliable, portable and fast, and its those things in spades!

The organizations (and newly-combined projects) contributing to Open MPI are Indiana University (LAM/MPI), the University of Tennessee (FT-MPI), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LA-MPI).
Additional collaborators are at Sandia National Laboratories and the High Performance Computing Center at Stuttgart. These developers bring many years of combined experience to the project.
Enhancements:

HCS Open Source Project consists of a do-it-yourself home automation hardware and software system.

The HCS Open Source Project is a stand-alone home automation control system which consists of hardware (main controllers and remote networked controllers) and software to monitor and control various devices around your house.

The current plans support using wired and wireless X10 modules, as well as analog, digital, and voice input and output. Once the HCS is programmed, the use of a PC is not required.

CS stands for Home Control System. Originally designed by Steve Ciarcia for the article "Home Run Control System" for Byte magazine.

What is the HCS II? The HCS II is an expandable, network-based (RS485), intelligent-node, industrial-oriented supervisory control system intended for demanding home control applications.

The HCS incorporates direct and remote digital inputs and outputs, direct and remote analog inputs and outputs, real-time or Boolean decision event triggering, X-10 transmission and reception, infrared remote control transmission and reception, remote LCD displays, and a master console.

The HCS II system architecture consists of a central supervisory controller (SC) connected to up to 32 other functional modules (called links) via a RS485 serial network. The SC and the COMM-Links can operate independently and dont need each other to function.

This allows easy testing or incorporation as intelligent subsystems in other control equipment. Initially the subsystems links all shared a comon 8031 controller board (generically called a COMM-Link) with the I/O customized for each application.

Open Tranquera is a repository of reusable components for J2EE application development.

There are UI extensions, Services, and a Persistence layer, integrated with existing open source frameworks.

Open BEAGLE is a C++ Evolutionary Computation (EC) framework. It provides an high-level software environment to do any kind of EC, with support for tree-based genetic programming, bit string and real-valued genetic algorithms, and evolution strategy.
The Open BEAGLE architecture follows strong principles of object oriented programming, where abstractions are represented by loosely coupled objects and where it is common and easy to reuse code.
Open BEAGLE is designed to provide an EC environment that is generic, user friendly, portable, efficient, robust, elegant and free.
With Open BEAGLE, the user can execute any kind of EC, as far as it fulfills some minimum requirements. The only necessary condition is to have a population of individuals to which a sequence of evolving operations is iteratively applied.
So far, Open BEAGLE supports most mainstream EC flavors such genetic programming, bit string and real-values genetic algorithms, and evolution strategy. It also includes support for advanced EC techniques such multiobjective optimization and co-evolution.
The user can take any of these specialized frameworks and modify them further to create his own specialized flavor of evolutionary algorithms.

User Friendliness
- Considerable efforts were deployed to make the use of Open BEAGLE as easy and pleasant as possible. Open BEAGLE possesses several mechanisms that offer a user friendly programming interface. For example, the memory management of dynamically allocated objects is greatly simplified by the use of reference counting and automatic garbage collection. The programming style promoted is high-level and allows rapid prototyping of applications.
Portability
- The Open BEAGLE code is compliant with the C++ ANSI/ISO 3 standard. It requires the Standard Template Library (STL). No specific call in the core libraries are made to the operating system nor to the hardware.
Efficiency
- To insure efficient execution, particular attention was given to optimization of critical code sections. Detailed execution profiles of these sections were done. Also, the fact that Open BEAGLE is written in C++ contributes to its overall good performance.
Robustness
- Many verification and validation statements are embedded into the code to ensure correct operation and to inform the user when there is a problem. Robust mechanisms for periodically saving the current evolution state have also been implemented in order to enable automatic restart of interrupted evolutions.
Elegance
- The interface of Open BEAGLE was developed with care. Great energy was invested in designing a coherent software package that follows good OO and generic programming principles. Moreover, strict programming rules were enforced to make the C++ code easy to read, understand and, eventually, modify. The use of XML as file format is also a central aspect of Open BEAGLE, which provide a common ground for tools development to analyze and generate files, and to integrate the framework with other systems.

The OPEN-XCHANGE? Collaboration and Integration Server Environment allows you to store appointments, contacts, tasks, emails, bookmarks, documents, and many more elements and share them with other users.
This environment can be accessed via any modern web browser and multiple fat clients like KDE Kontact, Apples iCAL, Konqueror, Mozilla Calendar, and many more.
Every 3rd party product can access this application over many different interfaces such as WebDAV (XML), LDAP, iCal, and HTTP/S. This makes the OPEN-XCHANGE? application a powerful product which can be used in many of different business and private areas successfully delivering access to e-mail and distributed groupware functions.
The OPEN-XCHANGE? Server is based on the following open source daemons and services: a web (HTTP/S) server (like Apache), a servlet engine (like Tomcat), a database (like PostgreSQL), a directory server (like OpenLDAP), and a mail (both SMTP and IMAP) server (like Postfix using Cyrus); just to list a few which are know to work.

- These changes should fix all existing bugs related to recurring appointments and timezones.
