UPS 3.38 beta2
UPS is a light C and C++ debugger under X11. more>>
Ups is a source level C,C++ and Fortran debugger that runs under X11. Currently supported systems are FreeBSD and GNU/Linux on Intel x86 and Solaris on SPARC.
On these systems it runs native; it is not a front-end to GNU gdb. An ANSI C interpreter is included; this is built in to ups to provide conditional debugging and can also be built as a seperate program.
If you are using some other operating system or processor then please see the systems information as ups has in the past been ported to a variety of computers, and may include code for your system.
Ups was written by Mark Russell of the Computer Science department at the University of Kent at Canterbury, and was originally part of the Kent Software Tools suite.

Falling Up 004
Falling Up its another tetris clone. more>>
Falling Up its another tetris clone. No, Im not trying to make any money off of it or claim it as particularly unique. It is fun. Try it. Its evil. Im told that frequently.
People have even praised it. I wrote it as a precursor to other games, a way to learn new technologies (GLUT, OpenGL, OpenAL, NSIS, ...), and to brush up on old ones (c, for that matter).
The source code is essentially free to do with as you please, if you like. If you "steal" most of it, Id prefer you give credit back to here, but really... whatever. I learned from lots of places and anything I can do to pay that back is cool.
The game is... tetris. You have the same old blocks, and they fall down. You use left and right to move blocks left and right, up to rotate, down to move down a line, and spacebar to drop.
Theres a next item (optional), sound (optional), and... stuff like that. Please, just download it and play it already! Geeze! Youd think I was just rambling...
Enhancements:
- The score file was adding 1 to the "level" the score was attained at every time a new high score was made, give or take; that is fixed.
- I added a background image (doesnt work with trails, may slow down on slower systems), and made F4 quit out of playing the game.

Plan/B 1.5
Plan/B is a network-aware file backup system. more>>
Plan/B is a network aware file backup system specifically designed to make the backup of files from multiple machines to a variety of devices simple.
The system provides features such as comprehensive reporting, the ability to use CDROM (and soon DVD) drives across the network, as well as centralised management.
Plan/B can be deployed on Windows and Linux systems.
Main features:
General
- Backup anything, to anywhere: You can use any kind of device that plasticine knows about (currently CDROM, Local disk, Network share, FTP device) as either a source or destination. There is no limitation (as there is in DataArmour).
- Multiple sources, Multiple Destinations: A backup may source its files from multiple machines and devices. The destinations for a backup job can also be any number of machines or devices. Thus it is now easy to have a single set of files (documents, code or other important assets) copied to more than one location using a single job. No need to clone a job anymore!
- Multi-Platform: As the system is written in Java, it will work with any machine for which there is a VM (this is true for the backup server and agents). The administration console can be run on either a Linux or Windows machine (when SWT, the GUI framework used for the console matures on OsX, the console will be able to run on that OS as well)
- Volume spanning: If any removable destination is out of space, then it is possible to request the next volume during the backup process. A good example of this is backup to multiple CDs. Plasticine supports both the spanning of single files across multiple media, and also the saving of complete files across different media. In the first case, a large file can be split across two volumes. In the second case, only complete files are written to any volume (obviously, if the file is larger than the size of the volume, it will have to be split up).
- Flexible selection: A single job can backup whatever is deemed important to the user. The files to backup are specified by rules, which can be as simple as include everything, and complex as include all word documents, all excel spreadsheets under my docs directory, and everything NOT ending in .bak under the data directory
- Flexible scheduler: Jobs can be run whenever you like. The current scheduling implementation takes on a form very similar to Cron, but other implementations are easily added. The important point here is that the process of deciding when a backup should be run is completely separated from anything else about the backup job. This is a change from DataArmour, where the scheduling (specifically, the weekly incremental backup job scheduling) is fixed to run on a Monday, with a full backup occurring every week. In Plasticine, user defined schedules are possible.
- Statistics: The system emits various statistics while in operation, including current progress of various jobs, jobs in the run queue, current load, and recent logged events.
Enterprise
- Reliable:The remote agents are resilient to network failure. If a server cannot be contacted, they will move into a discovery mode until the server is back up. No configuration is required!
- Painless installation: The system is very easy to install - just run the included windows installer and tell it what kind of install you want. All services are configured automatically.
- Administration Console: The backup server is a separate process, which is administered via a GUI console. The console can be run from any machine, and can control and manage the settings for the backup server and any client. That means you can configure everything from one place.
Enhancements:
- This release added an option to specify that the destination location should be deleted prior to the backup occuring.
- It also added an option to copy full folders and specify whether or not to create an absolute or relative backup.
- Completion was sped up by detaching the email sending from the job completion process.
- Warnings are now used to log more in the reports for situations that are not necessarily fatal.
- When adding a source or destination, the file browser is now automatically opened for you.
- It is now possible to have multiple email recipients for a backup report.

Open DC Hub 0.7.14
Open DC hub is a Unix/Linux version of the hub software for the Direct Connect network. more>>
Open DC hub is a Unix/Linux version of the hub software for the Direct Connect network. Direct Connect is a file sharing network made up by hubs, to which clients can connect.
Once connected to a hub, the user can search for files on the hub or the network, or browse files of other users connected to the hub.
Main features:
- Searching for files
- Connecting to users, both in active and passive mode
- Messaging in open chat
- Private messaging
- Registering users
- Kicking users (for OP:s)
- Banning users (for Admins)
- Uploading hub address and description to public hub list
- Hublinking, which makes it possible to search on other hubs connected to the network
- Administration of the hub from chat
- Scripting (In Perl)
The hub is run as a daemon, i.e, it runs in the background. Its administrated through a tcp connection, for example with telnet, which makes it possible to administer remotely, given that the user has the administration password. Its also possible to administer the hub directly from the chat in Direct Connect.
The software should run on all POSIX compliant operating systems, but the main testing has so far been done on GNU/Linux-x86 and Solaris-Ultrasparc. Please tell me if you fail or succeed in running it on other platforms.

Neohunt 0.1
Neohunt is an old multi-player shoot-em-up game. more>>
Neohunt project is an old multi-player shoot-em-up game.
Neohunt is a multi-player search-and-destroy game that takes place in a maze. The object is to shoot your friends before they shoot you, while avoiding being blown up by land mines and your own ammunition and running away from the occasional
stream of lava.
Neohunt is an enhanced version of hunt, one of the user-contributed games from the 4BSD distribution. You may still find versions of it
around here and there.
The original neohunt (not to be confused with the original hunt) was developed on a VAX 11/785 running 4.3BSD in 1989.
The version you see here is a slightly ANSIfied version of the K&R source, hacked up
just enough to run under FreeBSD 4.2. Nonetheless, it serves as a fine example of what a lot of software packages looked like in the 1980s.
Neohunt is not to be taken seriously. It is currently considered abandonware.

Pyjamas 0.1
Pyjamas is a toolkit and library designed to enable writing AJAX applications in Python. more>>
Pyjamas is a toolkit and library designed to enable writing AJAX applications in Python. Pyjamas is based on Googles GWT, which does the same thing for Java.
ike GWT, pyjamas involves the translation of the application and libraries (including UI widgets and DOM classes) to Javascript and the packaging up of that Javascript code.
There are two core developer tools included with pyjamas. pyjs translates Python code to Javascript by walking the Python abstract syntax tree and generating Javascript.
In many cases, built-in Python types require a custom Javascript implementation. For example, even though Python lists are similar to Javascript arrays, Python lists are converted to custom objects that implement methods like append. These custom objects required for translation by pyjs are defined in a library called pyjslib.
Like GWT, pyjamas comes with a set of UI widgets as well as a library for DOM manipulation. These libraries are written in Python but are, like everything else, translated to Javascript for deployment.
The overall translation of individual components is managed by build which also creates the necessary boilerplate code. The result is a set of .html and .js files that can be served up by a Web server.
There are other components planned which have not been covered here such as server-side code for communication in client-server applications.
Enhancements:
- All the GWT examples have been ported and work in Firefox.

Net::UP::Notify is a Perl module that can send "Net Alerts" to cellular phones with the "Unwired Planet" browser (AKA phone.com, AKA OpenWave UP.Browser).
SYNOPSIS
use Net::UP::Notify;
$blah=new Net::UP::Notify;
$blah->subscriberid("111111111-9999999_atlsnup2.adc.nexteldata.net");
$blah->location("http://www.perl.com/");
$blah->description("The Perl.com Homepage");
print $blah->send;
This allows you to send a Net Alert to a cellular phone, provided you know the subscriber ID of the user. This also requires the end user to have the Wireless Web service on their phone, and they also must have it provisioned by the carrier.
This was designed and tested using a Nextel phone, but I think that both Cingular and Sprint PCS should be supported here when given the proper subscriberid string.
My intention is to completely support the entire UP SDK, but for right now, I can only support the sending of Net Alerts.

Firewall by Jim is a firewall that takes advantage of tcp_wrappers information to block users. more>>
Firewall by Jim is a firewall that takes advantage of tcp_wrappers information to block users. I got tired of the firewall scripts out there not doing what I wanted them to.. I wanted a firewall that was flexible to use, but did its job. I wanted one that could be configured to any circumstance easily without changing the script itself. That is why I designed my firewall to use simple text files for configuration ease.
I have built in mutlple mean of protection into the firewall itself. Of the most notable is the hacker, trojan, spam, and blacklist capabilities.
The hacker protection will prevent the outside world from running unwanted commands. If you choose to enable this function.
The hacker protection will prevent the outside world from running unwanted commands. The trojan protection has two different levels. Standard and Intensive. The standard protection only protections from known linux and unix trojans. Where as the intensive will protect from all known trojans from windows, linux, and unix based.
The spam protection will block any IP address which is in list, from sending mail to your SMTP server.
The blacklist protection will block total communications to a site. I have also included a blacklist update script which will pull blacklist information from http://www.dshield.org .
