Truecrypt mount/unmount scripts 1.2

Truecrypt mount/unmount scripts contains two .sh files for mounting and unmounting truecrypt partitions with some dialogues. more>>
Truecrypt mount/unmount scripts contains two .sh files for mounting and unmounting truecrypt partitions with some dialogues. When mounting a password is asked and when unmounting both normal and forced mounting is supported, asking the user what to do in each stage. These are very simple scripts, but I decided to share them with the world, as I couldnt find them myself.
USAGE
Create two desktop icons which link to the scripts and give as parameters the source and the destination for the TrueCrypt partition. Now clicking the icons allow you to mount and unmount your partitions via dialogues. Very simple, but also useful. Remember to make the scripts executable. If you only have one TrueCrypt partition, you might want to write the source and destination into the script instead of giving them as parameters.
The idea for these scripts came from http://gentoo-wiki.com/TIP_EncFS and especially Kevin Wennemuth who wrote the scripts there, so thanks to him!
Enhancements:
- Opening KDE Wallet fixed, script did not always open kdewallet and never closed it.
- Kwallet script (needed parts) integrated into mount script.
- Some minor cosmetic changes.

hmount 0.2.1

hmount 0.2.1

hmount project is a simple interface to HAL for mounting and unmount hot-plugged devices. more>>
hmount project is a simple interface to HAL for mounting and unmount hot-plugged devices. Unlike gnome-mount, it doesnt depend on gconf, GTK+, X, or GNOME libraries.
Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system.
Running `configure might take a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Optionally, type `make check to run any self-tests that come with the package.
4. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
5. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean. To also remove the files that `configure created (so you can compile the package for a different kind of computer), type `make distclean. There is also a `make maintainer-clean target, but that is intended mainly for the packages developers. If you use it, you may have to get all sorts of other programs in order to regenerate files that came with the distribution.
Enhancements:
- autotools used for build.
- allow to use not full mountpoint during umount.
- right slash ignoreg in mountpoint during umount.

cryptmount 2.1

cryptmount 2.1

cryptmount is a utility for GNU/Linux operating systems which allows an ordinary user to mount an encrypted filesystem. more>>
cryptmount project is a utility for GNU/Linux operating systems which allows an ordinary user to mount an encrypted filesystem.
cryptmount was written to address differences between the capabilities of the loopback device and the newer, preferred, device-mapper mechanisms of the 2.6 kernel series, which make it more difficult for a non-root user to configure the devices necessary for access to an encrypted filesystem.
After the initial configuration of the encrypted filesystem, an ordinary user can mount and unmount the filesystem on demand, solely by providing the decryption password.
Enhancements:
- A new interactive tool to assist with initial setup of encrypted filesystems, support for reading/writing OpenSSL key files via libgcrypt, facilities for translating between key files stored in different formats, and support for improved dismantling of loopback filesystems during system shutdown.

Xfce 4 Mount Plugin 0.5.0

Xfce 4 Mount Plugin 0.5.0

Xfce 4 mount plugin is a plugin for the Xfce 4 panel allowing you to mount devices and have them opened in a file manager. more>>
Xfce 4 mount plugin is a plugin for the Xfce 4 panel allowing you to mount devices and have them opened in a file manager afterwards.

Usage:

Add it to the panel, close the appearing options dialog and simply click the new hard disk icon in your panel. You will see a menu containing all items from fstab, i.e. any partitions and removable media, that is currently inserted.

Now, you want to mount the inserted CD-Rom? Just click onto the appropriate line in the menu. Can’t mount it? But have the possibility to `sudo’? Then go to the options dialog and specify your own mount command, which might be `sudo mount’.

Next, you didn’t get any feedback if the CD was mounted successfully? Why don’t specify a file launcher in the options dialog to display the mounted volumes after mounting them?

Ok, now you’re done working with the CD and want to unmount it. You click the hard disk, click the appropriate line, but don’t know, whether it was unmounted successfully. You can check so by clicking the hard disk icon again and see, whether it is still mounted, or specify to display a short messages after successfully unmounting the mounted volume.

So, basically, everything works now, but you have network file systems which might be nice to be displayed... Well, there’s another option to include network file systems.
As a last item, you can also specify another mount icon you like more, e.g. a block device symbol, or a CD, or a rack, ...

Unieject 5.3.2

Unieject 5.3.2

Unieject is an eject command drop-in replacement for Linux and FreeBSD that ues libcdio to send commands to devices. more>>
Unieject project is an eject command drop-in replacement for Linux and FreeBSD that ues libcdio to send commands to devices.

It supports all the features of the standard FreeBSD eject and the most important ones of Linux eject.

It also features a library to access functions to lookup devices and mountpoints, unmount and eject devices.

At the time of writing (pre-1 release), this is still not API-stable nor well documented, but this is going to improve in next versions.

The command line tool instead is a mimic of classic eject command for Linux ( http://eject.sourceforge.net/ ), which supports also the features of
FreeBSDs eject command ( http://www.freshports.org/sysutils/eject/ ).

It hasnt a complete syntax compatibility with either Linuxs or FreeBSDs ejects as they have conflicts between them, but the main options are the same.

It can fully replace FreeBSDs eject (in both atapi and atapicam mode), and already mime the main options of Linuxs eject.

CDemu 0.8

CDemu 0.8

CDemu is a kernel module for Linux that can simulate a CD drive. more>>
CDemu is a kernel module for Linux. It is designed to simulate a CD drive + CD with just simple cue/bin files, which are pretty common in the Windows world.
You can use it to watch an SVCD or mount the data track of an bin/cue. However, for watching an SVCD, we would recommend MPlayer which can play bin/cue images directly with the patch a friend and I made for it (more under History).
Status:
- Using CDemu on multi user systems should be safe now. Any user can mount an image in an empty CDemu slot while only the user (and root) can unmount a slot that is already in use.
- Many users have reported SMP issues (varying from lock ups to very poor performance). Weve had an user send us a threading patch to avoid locking issues, but it is 2.4-centric. So, before it can be added to CVS, it needs to be generalized to support 2.4 and 2.6. Unfortunately, none of the CDemu developers have access to SMP systems so the best testing we can do involves it looks good :). CDemu-0.6 final should resolve these issues.
- Looking ahead: CDemu was first created to support bin/cue images. Ideally, wed like to be able to support Nero (.nrg), Disc Juggler (.cdi), Clone CD (.ccd), etc... Anyone with spare time and spare patches would be appreciated.
Installation:
The install is quite simple:
extract the archive (release tarball):
$ tar -jxvf cdemu- .tar.bz2
checkout the code from cvs:
$ cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/cdemu co -P cdemu
you need the source of your current running kernel.
/lib/modules/$(shell uname -r)/build/include needs to point at it.
build the module:
$ make
install the module and user space utilities:
$ sudo make install
now simply load the kernel module:
$ sudo modprobe cdemu
(no message should be displayed after running modprobe)
to load a bin/cue image:
$ cdemu 0 image.cue
$ mount /dev/cdemu/0 /mnt/cdrom
(some things may be different on your system, YMMV)
for more information, please review the help output:
$ cdemu -h
Enhancements:
- This version only supports kernel versions 2.6.16 and higher.
- The 2.4 series is no longer supported.
- cdemu now has file access like in a loop module.
- It should now work on amd64 and SMP systems.
- Support for .iso, .mds, .ccd, and .nrg images was added.
- Some documentation was added.
- Bugfixes were made.
