AutoScan is a utility for network exploration.
The objective of the program is to post the list of all equipment connected to the network. A list of ports preset is scanned for each equipment.
Main features:
- Automatic network discovery
- Entire subnets can be scanned simultaneously without human intervention
- Addition time-reality of the new machines put on the network
- Detection of the OS, brand and model known (Possibility to add an unknown equipment in the database)
- Ability to save the network state
- A Samba share browser
- A Nessus client
- For each machine, one can launch a script (ex:ping, nmap) and display the result
- For each port, one can launch an application (ex:rdesktop for the terminal server service)

Autofs NG is a Linux automounter that is intended to be completely interoperable with autofs implementations on other Unix platforms. As such, it supports some features that the current Linux automounters do not.
This includes direct mounts, /net (--hosts access), lazy mounting and unmounting of hierarchical multimounts, and browsing. Autofsng also supports the usual indirect map support available elsewhere.
Maps are supported from flat files, executable maps, NIS maps, NIS+ maps, LDAP maps, and hesiod (DNS) filsys namespace.
AutofsNG was originally developed at Sun Microsystems, but has been cancelled as a project. Fortunately, it has been released as GPL, so I am continuing its development in my spare time.
Enhancements:
- Initscript fixup for path to /proc/mounts
- We no longer update /etc/mtab because the kernel does all unmounting. Current recommendation is to symlink /proc/mounts to /etc/mtab if you want to see the what is actually mounted with calling mount
- Fixed SuSE/LSB initscript issue where ypbind wasnt neccesarily started before autofsng.
- Added an RPM .spec file to the tree.
- Fixed initscript install
- Fixed possible crash when using the -hosts map.
- Redimentary mount option translation. Currently translates the common Solaris NFS mount options to Linux specific ones. Hard-coded.
- Initscript fixups for unknown systems (Debian in particular)
- Fixed a bug where the -hosts map would return duplicate map offsets, which is a semantic error for usual entries.

Ubuntu Common Hooker project aims to provide an interface for unknown file extensions to automatically install a certain packages when its called.

Use cases

Eduard is a schizophrenic, however his only obession and a way to calm him down is listening to "Veronika Plays Piano, volume 1" which is encoded in MP3. Veronika is his friend who recently got a copy of Ubuntu Linux, and tried it on Eduards computer. However, Eduard just find out that he cant play his MP3s.

Dr. Igor use ".rar" extension to compress his research, however, Villete decides to migrate to Ubuntu Linux. But when Dr. Igor tryies to open "Vitriol.rar, and Zedka.rar", it says "Error cannot open file!"

Okonkwo tried Ubuntu Linux for the first time, however, when he tried to open "Wresting with Amalinze.mpg", he is prompted that "there are no codecs to view this file", However, Okonkwos father Onuka had no problems opening .mpg files, but Okonkwo doesnt like to use Windows like his father did.

Kopete OTR Plugin enables Off-The-Record encryption for the KDE instant messenger Kopete. It is based on libotr-3.0.0 available at http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr. Using this plugin you can encrypt chatsessions to other users with IM-Cients supporting the OTR encryption method.
What you need:
A recent version of KDE including headers for compiling. Versions 3.5.5 and 3.5.6 are known to work.
A recent Version of Kopete including headers. Versions 0.12.3, 0.12.4 and latest svn (thanks to MerlinTC - 22.03.07) are known to work.
The libotr including headers. The plugin was developed against version 3.0.0.
You will also need all the compile tools for compiling KDE applications.
Installation
After downloading do the following:

chngpwd is a secure wrapper to change user passwords another user in a PAM-enabled system.

chngpwds main use is as a wrapper for other interfaces to communicate with the user (e.g., Web interface).

It was build with security in mind, so there should not be any security bugs or holes opened by it (But you should check by your self before using it).

It requires: Authen::PAM from CPAN and Sys::Syslog (your perl distribution should have it already).

The main use for this is as a wrapper for changing password securily (e.g. from a web interface). So the cgi or whatever is being used doesnt need to deal with this issues (and run the cgi as suid root).

The script is rich in error messages and exit codes, so it is easy to track down errors, misconfiguration and abuses.

Also, on some critical circunstances it will try to mail the admin in a unknown event. Everything that it does is also logged to Syslog.

As it uses PAM to change passwords, it should work on any PAM aware system (almost all Linux distributions, Solaris and at some extend HP-UX). I just tested it on Linux (Conectiva Linux and Debian btw).

StormWar is (actually, will be) a 3D realtime strategy game inspired by a quite unknown but great old game: NetStorm, Islands at war.
Game and datas are released under the GPL license.
Strictely speaking, StormWar will not really be a game, but rather a game engine. StormWar projects goal is to make a game engine with many limitations so that it is easy to edit or create a mod.
A frequent error in game engines projects (that often lead them to a sudden death) is to make the engine too general, so that only developers are able to make games around them.
As much as possible, some limitations will be removed in the future, with the same condition in mind: keep it easy.
A mod contains all the modifiable datas used by the engine in comprehensive data files. These files are mainly based on variables, which is even much simplier than an integrated scripting language.
So every people with a few computer skills would be able to make (or at least modify) a mod.
The StormWar official release will include:
- The StormWar engine, written in C.
- The default mod, namely the StormWar mod, which will tend to look like NetStorm.
- Maybe other interesting mods and/or testing mods.
