Scum of the Universe 1.0
Scum of the Universe is a space trading game that combines two genres: arcade and strategy. more>>
Scum of the Universe is a space trading game that combines two genres: arcade and strategy. On one side, its a classic vertical-scrolling space shooter game. On the other side, it is an adventure and strategy. You should choose whether youll be an independent space trader, firearms smuggler, fierce freedom-fighter or something in between.
Following the main storyline, you go through the galaxy from one planet to another. Space travel requires fuel, so you need to keep earning money to buy it. You can also buy various upgrades for your spaceship and weapons that affect the arcade part of the game. The storyline itself is not linear. There are also some points where youll need to make decisions that will determine your destiny.
For thousands of years, people of planet Xen have colonized the planets in their galaxy. As time went by, many colonies grew unhappy about their status, as everything was controlled by Xen. Some of them organized military units and declared independence. You can see the status of each planet by "Rebel Sentiment" indicator. Planets with RS higher than 50% are ruled by the Rebel government, and Rebel laws apply.
Trading firearms is legal on planets ruled by Rebels, as they need as much firepower as they can get. On the other hand, Empire forbid all the trading with firearms and other ground weaponry as they wish to maintain their military advantage. One of the ways to make a lot of money is to buy cheap guns at Empire planets and sell them for a lot of money on Rebel planets where demand is extremely high. But be careful as youll need to fight Empire fleet once they find out youre a smuggler.
Beside the raging war between Xen Empire and the rebels there is increased activity of alien species, who destroy human ships. The stronger alien activity, the more waves of alien ships youll need to defeat in each planets outer orbit. Some of the aliens you destroy may drop artifacts (big blue ones) which you can sell at any space station for 20credits a piece.

Overgod 1.0
Overgod is a 2D shooter with multiplayer support based on Allegro. more>>
Overgod is a 2D shooter with multiplayer support based on Allegro.
For too long has humanity been ruled by cruel and disputatious gods! Fly through the various layers of the Celestial Oversphere to unseat those who control the universe.
This is my latest game, Overgod. Its similar to my last game, Lacewing, but better in almost every way. Basically, you control a little vehicle in the middle of the screen and fly around and shoot things - a bit like asteroids, but the asteroids move independently and shoot back. You can also upgrade your vehicle in various ways.
Main features:
- Over 100 different enemies
- Lots of randomness and chaos
- Various different modes and unlockable challenges
- 1 or 2 players (splitscreen)
- Pretty low system requirements (about 300MHz is plenty, and it doesnt need any kind of fancy graphics card)
- Days of fun!
It should compile on any platform supported by Allegro. Windows and Mac binaries are provided at the moment, as is source code (its under the GPL). The links are all to sourceforge, which is a little cumbersome, but for various reasons Im releasing this through Internet cafes and the Library so thats what you get. Have fun!
(Thanks to Michael Faerber for helping with Linuxisation and pointing out bugs, and Peter Hull for helping with the Mac version and finding another bug)

Thousand Parsec 0.4.1
Thousand Parsec is a 4 Xs game (eXplore, eXpand, eXterminate, eXploit). more>>
Thousand Parsec is a 4 Xs game (eXplore, eXpand, eXterminate, eXploit) but it is different in the sense that it is designed for long games supporting universes as large as your computer can handle. (Have a quad Xeon with 4 gig of ram? Well have a couple of million systems in your universe!.
Thousand Parsec also supports long term play with players joining and leaving throughout the game. As well the tech tree is easily expandable and can be extended during the game without effecting anybody already playing (ie introduction of new technology as the game progresses).
You can choose to have highly exotic universes where the laws of physics are totally different or universes that are very similar to our own.
The game is TURN BASED, this means that clicking quickly isnt vital but strategy is.
The game should also be highly extend-able. Allowing player customisation not found in the commercial games.
Anyway we have high hopes for what TP will become. We have currently stolen a lot of ideas from Stars!, VGA Planets an XPace.

Xubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)
Xubuntu is a nice Ubuntu desktop experience with Xfce4. more>>
Xubuntu community projects aim is to provide a nice Ubuntu desktop experience (even on older hardware) by using Xfce4 as the desktop environment and GTK+ 2 applications wherever possible.
Xfce4 has been supported in Ubuntus universe by the MOTUXfce team since Hoary and Breezy. For Dapper we want to go one step further and make Xubuntu a sibling of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Edubuntu by having install and live CD images generated for it.
As Ubuntu has a delay of six weeks with a new release date of the first of June, Xubuntu should be released at the same time and should use the latest stable Xfce 4.X code (hopefully 4.4 will be released by then).

Tcsh 6.15.00
Tcsh is an enhanced, but completely compatible version of the Berkeley UNIX C shell (csh). more>>
Tcsh is an enhanced, but completely compatible version of the Berkeley UNIX C shell (csh). The project is a command language interpreter usable both as an interactive login shell and a shell script command processor.
It includes a command-line editor, programmable word completion, spelling correction, a history mechanism, job control and a C-like syntax.
Tcsh has been ported to most unix variants, and can be tinkered to work in unix systems that it has not ported yet. See the Ported file for a more complete list of ported systems and in the config directory for a configuration file that matches your system.
Tcsh also runs under VMS/POSIX and OS/2+emx; the OS/2 port is not complete yet.
Installation:
0. Try running "configure". If that works, goto step 6. If you are using imake, try xmkmf and goto step 3. If imake does not work, copy Makefile.std to Makefile.
1. Look at the Makefile and make sure that you are using the right compilation flags.
2. Copy the appropriate for your machine and OS config file from the config subdirectory into config.h. Consult the file "Ported" for settings known to work on various machines.
If you are trying to compile tcsh on a machine for which there is no config file yet, you will need to create a config file using as a template one of the supplied ones.
If you get tcsh working on a new machine, Id appreciate a copy of the config file plus additional information about the architecture/OS.
If you are creating a new config file, look very hard at BSDJOBS, BSDSIGS, and BSDTIMES if you are running a non-BSD machine. For vanila SysV, these would all be #undef-ed, but others may vary (such as A/UX or HPUX).
On a pyramid, compile in the UCB universe even if you are running under the ATT universe usually; it will work anyway, and you get job control for free.
3. Look at config_f.h, and enable or disable any features you want. It is configured the way I like it, but you may disagree.
If you do not have NLS, then locale.h will not be found. Undefine it and things should work ok. On the other hand, if you have NLS you might as well use it...
4. Look at host.defs to make sure that you have the right defines to set the environment variables "HOSTTYPE", "MACHTYPE", "OSTYPE" and "VENDOR" correctly. If you need to make changes, PLEASE SEND THEM BACK TO ME.
5. You may want to adjust the TCSH_BINDIR and TCSH_MANDIR entries in the Makefile. These are the directories that tcsh, and the tcsh.1 man entry will be placed in when you do a "make install" and "make install.man" respectively.
If you decide to install tcsh somewhere other than in /usr/local/bin/tcsh, you should #define _PATH_TCSHELL "/your/installation/directory/tcsh" in pathnames.h.
6. If youve changed any of the configuration variables you may need to re-run configure.
7. make
8. Read the documentation while you are waiting. The file tcsh.man is in standard [nt]roff -man format.
If you like, you can run the tcsh.man2html script (requires Perl) to generate an HTML version of the manpage which you can read with Mosaic, lynx or other HTML browser.
9. Test tcsh by typing ./tcsh to see that it has compiled correctly. The history command should give a time stamp on every entry. Typing normal characters should echo each exactly once.
Control-A should put the cursor at the beginning of the input line, but after the prompt. Typing characters after that should insert them into the line. If you have job control make sure that stopping and restarting jobs works.
Make sure you can ^C in the middle of the input line. Also make sure that pipelines work correctly and there are no races. Try echo | cat | cat | cat | cat | more a couple of times.
If you have job control, try this command in the background and bring it in the foreground when it stops for tty output. Also make sure that the ioctl() modes are preserved. Get into vi, enter and exit input mode and suspend it, background it and foreground it again.
After all that, lastly make sure that the tty process group manipulation is happening correctly. Try ftp to some host. If your passwd appears on the screen, you have lost /dev/tty. Otherwise everything is fine.
10. Once satisfied that tcsh is working correctly, complete the installation by typing "make install" to install the binary, and "make install.man" to install the documentation. Dont forget to look at complete.tcsh for useful completions...

BlackNova Traders 0.55
BlackNova Traders is a PHP/MySQL Web-based multi-player strategy game. more>>
BlackNova Traders project is a PHP/MySQL Web-based multi-player strategy game.
BlackNova Traders is a strategy game, loosely based on the old BBS games of Tradewars, Galactic Warzone, and Ultimate Universe, but multiplayer and Web-based. It involves space trading, conflict, and diplomacy.
Two things happend as the game grew in popularity:
-Ron was kindly asked by said hosting service to find other hosting. (at the time the game was serving over 4 million pages a month)
-The fans of the game were begging Ron to release the game as an open source project. (as feature requests and bug fixes were very slow in coming with only Ron working on the code)
So new hosting was found and the game was released as an open source project (originally under the artistic license and later under the GPL).
