Kubuntu is an Ubuntu-derived distribution. The Kubuntu CDs are made up of Ubuntus base plus KDE. You can get exactly the same effect by installing Ubuntu and adding the KDE packages from the Ubuntu archives.

Kubuntu is the result of several months effort to get KDE 3.4 into Ubuntus main repository and create the first major derived Ubuntu distribution. Kubuntu is not a fork of Ubuntu but an official project of it, sharing the same package archive and infrastructure. It is possible to convert an Ubuntu system to Kubuntu or vice versa.

Therefore, once you install KDE for Ubuntu, simply saying you are running Ubuntu can lead to some confusion in the support forums and on mailing lists. So, for purpose of clarity and to help avoid confusion, it was decided that KDE for Ubuntu will be affectionately known as "Kubuntu." This follows the long standing tradition of the KDE application naming convention, which entails adding K as the first letter of a KDE application name.

Kubuntu aims to be to KDE what Ubuntu is to Gnome: a great integrated distro with all the great features of Ubuntu, but based on the KDE desktop. Kubuntu is released regularly and predictably.

Edubuntu is a version of the Ubuntu operating system suitable for classroom use. As an educator youll be able to set up a computer lab, or establish an online learning environment, in an hour or less -- then administer that environment without having to become a fully-fledged Linux geek.

The goal is to make it a real point of pride to be able to run Gobuntu on a laptop or desktop or server, because it means that all of the stars have aligned to ensure that you have complete freedom to use that hardware with free software.

VoiceBuntu (Ubunterisk) is an Ubuntu based live Linux distribution that uses Asterisk and VoiceOne to provide VoIP service.
VoiceBuntus focus is to run asterisk with no installation needed. VoiceBuntu - ubuntu itself - has built in boot prompt cheap code one can use called persistent.
This feature allows the user to use VoiceBuntus persistent feature in order to keep settings on a flash disk or memory stick.
To start, just burn the ISO file on a CD-ROM then start the live cd distribution and wait until everything is ready.
Please note, that apache will start at the very last moment of the boot cycle. So you may a to wait 1 or 2 minutes to let everything load.
Once everything is prepared, start your browser and point to the IP address of your running VoiceBuntu (i.e. http://192.168.0.10).
If you have no DHCP Server available you can press F6 at boot screen and add additionally add the command parameter

Enhancements:
- This live CD release is based on Ubuntu 7.04 and VoiceOne 0.5.0_2 due to a minor bug in VoiceOne version 0.5.0.

neostrada-sagem-ubuntu is a script, that configures ubuntu for networking with Sagem fast800 (neostrada tp).

Kubuntu Human Theme was created because I started to like the Ubuntu Human theme and when I switched to KDE, I was missing it there. The theme is assembled from various Ubuntu style items, most of which can be found on KDE-look: Ubuntu Cristal background, Human (Revised) color scheme, nuoveXT icons, Ubuntu Kmenu icon, SoftGlow Orange kicker, default Plastik style and Crystal window deco.

Installation of .kth file thru KDE Control Center--Theme Manager--Install; then, if you want exactly the same look, get and install the above items (search on KDE-look). The Kmenu can be changed by replacing each kmenu.png in /usr/share/icons/nuovext/[SIZE]/apps/ Then refresh your icon set.
