Titlebar Tweaks 1.8.3.7
Allows you to tweak your browsers titlebar text more>>
If you always use a single Firefox window, opening all new pages in tabs, you probably don't care much about displaying the current tabs page title in the window titlebar. Titlebar Tweaks enables you to customize your window titlebar to do the following:
- Display the browser name before the page title
- Display only the browser name or page title
- Replace the browser name in the titlebar with your own text
Major Features:
- Compatible with Mozilla Firefox 2.0.
- Enables you to switch the order of the browser name and document title in the browser's titlebar, or remove one of the two entries.
- Allows you to change the browser name in the titlebar.
Enhancements:
- Added "Blank Page" to display for web page titles that are blank.
Requirements:
- Mozilla Firefox
openSUSE KDE Tweaks 10.2
openSUSE KDE Tweaks are actually KDE 3.5.5 (openSUSE 10.2) patches and two RPM tools. more>>
I like and dislike the new kickoff menu at the same time, so I decided to change everything about it that I dont like.
Although my patches were meant to change only the new kickoff menu, I ended up changing other parts of KDE, and even writing two little apps. The results of my hacking are all here, so make good use of it.
The patch provides the following modifications:
bi-kicker:
- Changes the order of the kickoff tabs to a more logical order (in order of access frequency): Favorites, Applications, History, Leave
- Removes the IMHO useless Computer tab (can be replaced with a sysinfo icon in the Favorites tab)
- Corrects the order of Grub entries (to descending) in the "Start Operating System" submenu
- Removes the useless "Restart and boot directly into ..." comments from the Start OS submenu
- Changes the order of the Recently Used Apps to the same order as in the old menu and as in the Recent Documents list (new at top, older at bottom)
- Lower the number of days a New Application entry is kept (1 instead of 3)
- Adds an Uninstall context menu entry which calls the uninstall_rpm script with the *.desktop file as the first parameter
- Changes in the old KMenu the "Recently Used Applications" tag to just "Recently Used" and the "Most Used Applications" tag to "Most Used"
- Adds a rounded corner to the left side of the search mode
bi-kicker_noshadow:
- Everything included in bi-kicker
- Removes the shadow surrounding the menu. Useful for those who enable the nVidia composite mode (providing a cool shadow for all active windows) and would like to avoid a strange double shadow effect.
bi-kdesktop:
- Prevents the unwanted realignment of desktop icons when the Auto Align
bi-kcontrol:
- Removed the "Get New Wallpapers" button from the Desktop Configuration Dialog, because it provides unfiltered access to images that are more and more shameless
- Changes the icon of the Display option (different from the Screensaver option)
bi-krpmview:
- Adds a "Quick Install" button to the krpmview kpart which calls the install_rpm script with the *.rpm file as the first parameter
The RPM-Tools provide:
- Simple and quick solution to install an RPM + konqueror service menu
- Simple and quick solution to uninstall an RPM + konqueror service menu
- No dependency handling

The UNIX Man Slak Paks 0.5
The UNIX Man Slak Paks is a Slackware package creation framework. more>>
The framework currently has a lot of parameters, and also has basic frameworks for CPAN packages. It is possible to add more frameworks and tweaks for other package networks as well, such as the PHP and Python archives, and these are in the works currently.
Enhancements:
- This marks the start of the new style of build scripts. These are much more modular, and have a consistent set of shell functions and variables which work in their defaults for most situations, and can be redefined by a package file to do special setup or other functions
- which some packages may require.

DrakLive
DrakLive is a live distribution mastering tool. more>>
draklive builds a live distribution according to a configuration file, creates a master image, and optionally installs it on a device.
Why a new live mastering tool?
Mandriva Move
The Move1/Move2 technology is quite deprecated now, it was about loading writable files in RAM, and using dnotify to monitor file modifications and copy the modified files on the USB key.
It required a specific boot process, and a complex mastering process. It is better replaced by something like unionfs, which allows transparent filesystem overlay (and makes possible files removal).
mklivecd
mklivecd already allows to create live distributions, but its not easy to keep it in sync with latest hardware or technical updates. mklivecd needs its own long initrd script (linuxrc), as well as a new rc.sysinit file. It makes the boot very complicated, and its not easy to maintain all these three programs (linuxrc, rc.sysinit, mklivecd) together.
linux-live / Slax
The linux-live scripts are quite similar, but they also requiresome additional library in the initrd, and they dont provide a good hardware drivers list in their initrd.
Advantages
draklives philosophy is to keep the live distribution as close as possible to a normal Mandriva Linux distribution. All specific live tweaks are done in a very tiny initrd script. Since this one is generated on the fly, its very small, and gets quite easy to debug.
The list of drivers included in the initrd is adjusted during the live distribution creation, according to the medium type. draklive uses the DrakX libraries to have an up-to-date drivers list.
Once the initrd script is done booting, the root device will be used transparently by the distribution, without any additional tricks.
Hardware detection is done with harddrake, providing a reliable integration.
Main features:
- live CD
- live distribution on USB key
- easy to test over NFS
- uses the Mandriva installer to create the live system
- fully read-write live system (using unionfs)
- automatic hardware configuration (using harddrake)
- generic code structure to make new technical choices usable quickly

imetal 0.98 is professionally designed as a port of the imetal OSX theme created by AndyBlac . It uses the pixbuf engine so it's a little slow, but i couldn't make an accurate port without it. Now that Azel is finaly completed and released, i managed to update imetal too ...
There is only one theme now, if you want to use global menu with it , just open the gtkrc file found inside the theme folder and change the line (it's near the end) : include "Tweaks/tweaks.rc" to, include "Tweaks/globalmenu-tweaks.rc" and reload the theme. In order to extract the archive , change the suffix to tar.gz .
Enhancements:
- Fixed a bug (introduced in v0.97) where empty lists had a blue color.
- Evolution vertical mail preview mode list headers fixed.

Wirble 0.1.0
Wirble is a set of enhancements for Irb. more>>
The idea, of course, is to fill Irb with useful features without turning your ~/.irbrc file into swiss cheese. Using Wirble is simple, too. Heres what a standard Wirble-enabled ~/.irbrc looks like:
# load libraries
require rubygems
require wirble
# start wirble (with color)
Wirble.init
Wirble.colorize
Dont like the defaults? Wirble is configurable. For documentation on enabling specific features or tweaking the color settings.
