Stella 2.4

Stella 2.4

Stella is a multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). more>>
Stella is a multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator.
Stella was originally developed for Linux by Bradford W. Mott, however, since its original release several people have joined the development team to port Stella to other operating systems such as AcornOS, AmigaOS, DOS, FreeBSD, IRIX, Linux, OS/2, MacOS, Unix, and Windows. The development team is working hard to perfect the emulator and we hope you enjoy our effort.
On this site youll find information about downloading, installing, using, and enhancing Stella. Youll also find useful information about the Atari 2600 and emulation.
Enhancements:
Added new video sub-system where fullscreen and windowed modes are treated
differently. Windowed modes now use -zoom_tia and -zoom_ui arguments,
while fullscreen modes can be specified by resolution using the new
-fullres argument.
- Widescreen video modes are now supported; Stella will simply center the
image with surrounding black borders.
- Many UI-related changes, including resizable ROM launcher and debugger
windows, and a new UI palette (the previous classic palette is still
available). This is still a work in progress.
- The locations of all major config files (statedir, palette file,
cheat file, properties file, etc) are now configurable from the
commandline and within the UI.
- Updates to TIA palette support. Added SECAM support, and removed the
built-in original palette. Standard, z26, and user are still
available.
- Various bugfixes to some debugger commands. The run command no
longer causes a crash, and several others have better error-checking.
- Added more complete cartridge auto-detection for Commavid (CV), 3E,
3F and Activision (FE) formats.
- Removed XStart and Width ROM properties, since the forthcoming TIA
rework wont be using them.
- Reworked internal storage of ROM properties to be faster and take up
less space.
- Added several different ways of stretching the OpenGL image to the
-gl_fsmax argument, for more flexibility.
- Removed OpenGL aspect ratio setting favour of the previously mentioned
video changes. Well see how this goes.
- Removed dirty-rect support from software rendering, since it was actually
sub-optimal in Windows and OSX and defaulted to off in previous versions.
- Added support for gzipped ROMs.
- Re-added pause support.
- Re-added support for Windows 98.
- Removed support for STELLA_BASEDIR environment variable, since each
config file can be now configured separately.
- Removed -fastscbios argument, since it must always be turned on.
- Removed PSP support, since it hasnt been updated in over a year, and
someone else is maintaining another port elsewhere.
- For the Unix/Linux port; fixed make install issues, and changed icon to
PNG format.

KMemAid 0.2.4

KMemAid 0.2.4

MemAid is like a traditional flash-card program to help you memorise question/answer pairs. more>>
KMemAid is like a traditional flash-card program to help you memorise question/answer pairs, but with an important twist: it uses a neural network to schedule the best time for an item to come up for review.
Difficult items that you tend to forget quickly will be scheduled more often, while MemAid wont waste your time on things you remember well. This means your learning process becomes much more efficient, also because the neural network gradually adapts to your personal memory model.
Enhancements:
- A small bug in item scheduling code was fixed.
- A category corruption when switching databases or doing XML import/export was fixed.
- The font setting is honored in the input and edit dialogs.
- The code was updated to work with Superkaramba 0.36.
- Unicode is still a problem, though. XML importing and exporting was improved.
- Pressing the "find" button repeatedly will scroll through all occurrences of the string in the list now. pre-0.2.3 databases are automatically imported.

ccache 2.4

ccache 2.4

ccache is a compiler cache. more>>
ccache is a compiler cache. It acts as a caching pre-processor to C/C++ compilers, using the -E compiler switch and a hash to detect when a compilation can be satisfied from cache. This often results in a 5 to 10 times speedup in common compilations.
The idea came from Erik Thiele wrote the original compilercache program as a bourne shell script. ccache is a re-implementation of Eriks idea in C with more features and better performance.
Why bother with a compiler cache? If you ever run "make clean; make" then you can probably benefit from ccache. It is very common for developers to do a clean build of a project for a whole host of reasons, and this throws away all the information from your previous compiles.
By using ccache you can get exactly the same effect as "make clean; make" but much faster. It also helps a lot when doing RPM builds, as RPM can make doing incremental builds tricky.
I put the effort into writing ccache for 2 reasons. The first is the Samba build farm (http://build.samba.org/) which constantly does clean builds of Samba on about 30 machines after each CVS commit. On some of those machines the build took over an hour. By using ccache we get the same effect as clean builds but about 6 times faster.
The second reason is the autobuild system I used to run for Quantum. That system builds our whole Linux based OS from scratch after every CVS commit to catch compilation problems quickly. Using ccache those builds are much faster.
Main features:
- keeps statistics on hits/misses
- automatic cache size management
- can cache compiles that generate warnings
- easy installation
- very low overhead
- uses hard links where possible to avoid copies
Enhancements:
- Added CCACHE_READONLY option
- Added CCACHE_TEMPDIR option
- fixed handling of hard-linked compilers on AIX
- added O_BINARY support, to try and support win32 compiles
- show cache directory in stats output
- fixed handling of HOME environment variable

Main features:
- Easy to use goal oriented GUI. You say what the firewall should do without having to explain all the details of how it should do it.
- Application protocol based. Unlike other tools, Guarddog does not require you to understand the ins and outs of IP packets and ports. Guarddog takes care of this for you. This also reduces the chances of configuration mistakes being made which are a prime source of security holes.
- Doesnt just generate the firewall once and forgets it. Guarddog lets you maintain and modify the firewall in place.

CMake 2.4.6

CMake 2.4.6

CMake is a cross-platform, open-source build system. more>>
CMake, the cross-platform, open-source make system. CMake is used to control the software compilation process using simple platform and compiler independent configuration files.
CMake generates native makefiles and workspaces that can be used in the compiler environment of your choice. CMake is quite sophisticated: it is possible to support complex environments requiring system configuration, pre-processor generation, code generation, and template instantiation.
CMake was developed by Kitware as part of the NLM Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit project. The ASCI VIEWS project also provided support in the context of their parallel computation environment. Other sponsors include the Insight, VTK, and VXL open source software communities.
The goals for CMake include the following:
- Develop an open source, cross-platform tool to manage the build process,
- Allow the use of native compilers and systems,
- Simplify the build process,
- Optionally provide a user-interface to manage the build system,
- Create an extensible framework,
- Grow a self-sustaining community of software users and developers.
Main features:
- Supports complex, large build environments. CMake has been proven in several large projects.
- Generates native build files (e.g., makefiles on Unix; workspaces/projects on MS Visual C++). Therefore standard tools can be used on any platform/compiler configuration.
- Has powerful commands include the ability to locate include files, libraries, executables; include external CMake files that encapsulate standard functionality; interfaces to testing systems; supports recursive directory traversal with variable inheritance; can run external programs; supports conditional builds; supports regular expression expansion; and so on.
- Supports in-place and out-of-place builds. Multiple compilation trees are possible from a single source tree.
- Can be easily extended to add new features.
- CMake is open source.
- CMake operates with a cache designed to be interfaced with a graphical editor. The cache provides optional interaction to conditionally control the build process.
Enhancements:
- This release adds many minor bugfixes.
