tunerd 0.6

tunerd 0.6

tunerd is a very simple daemon to control an FM tuner. more>>
tunerd is a very simple daemon to control an FM tuner. I found that most FM tuner control programs opened the device (/dev/tuner), set the property (frequency), and closed the device again. This is fine on most tuners, but my USB FM tuner always turned off when the device was closed. I needed a program that would always keep the device open - hence tunerd.
Because tunerd always keeps the device open it needs some way to be controlled so that other programs can talk to the FM tuner. To allow this tunerd will listen on a TCP/IP socket for requests to set/get various FM tuner attributes. This package also has another program called setuner which controls the FM tuner by talking to tunerd. I use this to control my FM tuner from a web page and cgi-bin script.
Compile instructions:
./configure
make
Enhancements:
- Fixed minor code compatibility problems and updated configure scripts

QTuneroid 0.9

QTuneroid 0.9

QTuneroid is a musical instrument tuner, designed to tune musical instruments on PC . more>>
QTuneroid is a musical instrument tuner, designed to tune musical instruments on PC using a microphone or by directly connecting the instrument to the PCs sound card.
This program actually is a fork of Tuneroid by Jozef Kosoru (check his page at "http://www.uid0.sk/zyzstar/?tuneroid" ) which i made because i needed a good tuner, but dont want to use huge and sluggish KDE desktop, nor even install KDE libraries. So i ported Tuneroid to pure Qt and made some tweaks to UI slightly...
Enhancements:
- small ui fixes
- several build fixes

ZebraTuner 0.9.0.0

ZebraTuner 0.9.0.0

ZebraTuner is a guitar tuner and generic instrument tuner. more>>
ZebraTuner is a guitar tuner and generic instrument tuner. The project compares frequencies detected in the signal coming from the microphone to standard or user-defined notes, displaying the results in both graphical and textual form.

The number of notes tested and their frequency is configurable, so it can be used for other instruments and other tunings besides those based on equal temperament (e.g. just intonation-based tunings).

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT Is Not a Guitar-Only Tuner 0.7.2

LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. more>>
LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. LINGOT is easy to use, accurate, and highly configurable. Originally conceived to tune electric guitars, its configurability gives it a more general character. (Tuning another instruments has not been tested).
It looks like an analogic tuner, with a gauge indicating the relative shift to a certain note --found automatically as the closest note to the estimated frequency--, indicating that note and its frequency.
The note will be found automatically, since the program hasnt any manual function mode (indicating the note to tune manually), for mantaining its general purpose.
We recommend using the tuner in conjunction with a sound mixer for selecting the desired recording source and the signal recording levels.
Main features:
- Accurate.
- Easy to use. Just plug in your instrument and run tuner.
- Very configurable via GUI. Its possible to change any parameter while the program is running, without editing any file.
- It works in an automatic way. It isnt necessary specify the note to tune; the program guesses it.
- Its free software. It has GPL license.
- Tuning other instruments than guitars is possible. Since this program guesses the note you are playing, it can be used to tune a piano, a bass, a violin, etc.
Enhancements:
- Files have been reorganized to a more "GNU-like" structure.
- Multi-lingual support has been added.

tuneit 0.3

tuneit 0.3

tuneit is a simple command-line instrument tuner for Linux. more>>
tuneit is a simple command-line instrument tuner for Linux.
It uses two different algorithms for pitch detection. By default, a simple and fast Schmitt Trigger based algorithm is used to detect the fundamental frequency of an instrument.
For better and more reliable results, there is an alternative FFT based algorithm which is much more CPU intensive.
As audio capture backends ALSA and JACK are supported. By default, tuneit will try to use the hw:0,0 ALSA device.
Options:
tuneit [OPTIONS...] [captureDevice]
Valid options:
-f Use the more CPU intensive FFT based algorithm
-i List available input ports and exit
-j Use JACK as the audio transport system
-l LATENCY Measurement window size in 1/N seconds (default is 10)
-r RATE Set desired ALSA sample rate (default is 48000)
-t HERTZ Tune the A note of the scale (default is 440.0)
Enhancements:
- Now uses the floating-point version of FFTW3 and in-place transforms for better performance when using the FFT algorithm.
- Fixes to support compilation with GCC 4.0.

gTune (GUI) 0.10

gTune (GUI) 0.10

This is a nice instrument tuner for GNOME 1.0. more>>
This is a nice instrument tuner for GNOME 1.0. There is a compact very simple interface. There is also a console version and a GNOME 0.30 version avaialble.

It was derived from the original gtune utility which was a console program. It uses FFT routines which are quite slow and I dont think it should be run on anything below a pentium class computer and I reccomend a P166. This new version (0.10) now works for the more recent releases of GNOME, and is simpler than the original. It also now compiles two targets, gtune and gtune_console, so you can use console mode gtune if you want to.

You can download gTune for Gnome 1.0 source here, or you can download a staticly linked version of gTune 0.10 here. All you need to do is uncompress it into a dummy directory and execute the command "./runme". I hope the next releases will use the autoconf stuff, but this program is very simple anyways.

This new version isnt perfect however, it now determines intervals on its own, but Ive only been able to test how it does it on my machine. It works perfectly on mine, and should on your, but be careful the first time you run it and mail me if you have any trouble with it. I dont want to scare you off, I dont anticipate anything going wrong (did I just jynx it?).
