AFD 1.3.5

AFD 1.3.5

AFD is a program to automatically distribute files either locally or to remote hosts. more>>
AFD comes from Automatic File Distributor and provides a framework for very flexible, non-stop, log and debug-able delivery of an arbitrary amount of files to multiple recipients as expressed in URLs (currently mailing and ftp supported with the mailto://user@domain and ftp://user:password@host URL conventions). AFD stands for Automatic File Distributor.
The most common technique used to distribute data is for each individual to fetch the data from one common place. This place can be a database, FTP-server or even the WWW (World Wide Web). However, this is not always the most user or customer friendly way for a company or organization to distribute its products. For this reason AFD (Automatic File Distributor) was developed, to provide a better service to users or customers in transporting the required data directly to the location where it is required.
When distributing files to a remote host it does so via the FTP or SMTP protocol. Local distribution is done by simply copying files from one directory to another. To distribute files, the AFD has one central configuration file (DIR_CONFIG), where the system administrator can specify which files are to be distributed and where they are to be sent.
Main features:
- The AFD can send/retrieve any type of file, regardless of contents and the name of the file.
- Only the files are being distributed, no other additional information is send with the file.
- The AFD has a very sophisticated and compact X11 interface to monitor and control the distribution of files (afd_ctrl). It has the ability to do extensive logging of all activities, even down to tracing each individual FTP/SMTP command.
- Files can be send to places where no AFD is installed.
- There can be more than one process distributing files to a single host. This has the advantage that when a large file is currently being distributed, other files dont have to wait until the large file is done.
- Where net capacity is limited, it is possible to distribute files with priority.
- If the transfer gets interrupted, AFD can append files. So data that has already been transmitted will not be send again.
- It is possible to setup a whole network of AFDs that can be monitored and controlled through a single interface (mon_ctrl).
Version restrictions:
- The AFD requires X11R5 and Motif 1.2.x (or higher).
Enhancements:
- Files that have been distributed or are to be distributed can now be viewed via show_olog and show_queue dialog.
- A new interface for acknowledging errors was added.
- All events are logged into a separate log file.
- The pattern matching function was enhanced so that it can also handle [] brackets.
- More syntax checks were added for options in DIR_CONFIG.

DirectoryPass 1.3

DirectoryPass 1.3

DirectoryPass is a very powerful, yet simple to use .htaccess management system. more>>
DirectoryPass is a very powerful, yet simple to use .htaccess management system. The project enables the user to administer both .htaccess and .htpasswd files to setup password protected directories and to add and remove users.
DirectoryPass automatically generates .htaccess files and is compatible with Cobalt RAQ and Windows .htaccess. DirectoryPass allows administration of an unlimited number of .htaccess and .htpasswd files within a particular users account/server.
DirectoryPass uses Apaches .htaccess and .htpasswd along with DES randomized salt generation and password encryption of passwords for increased security. Unlike our other products, DirectoryPass does not maintain a members database. It is simply a tool for managing your collection of .htaccess and .htpasswd files securely without the hassles of telnet or FTP.
Included in the administration panel are tools for addition and removal of users as well as the generation of .htaccess files.
Main features:
.htaccess Facilities
- Generate .htaccess files to password protect directories.
- Cobalt RAQ .htaccess compatible.
- Unix/Linux and Windows compatible.
.htpasswd Facilities
- Add user function.
- Remove user facility.
- Password are automatically encrypted with DES randomized salt encryption.
- Validation checks, checks for input and that usernames/passwords are more than 5 characters long.
- No duplicate usernames.
General Functionality
- Directory browser (flags password protected directories)
- Password protected for security.
- Ability to administer an unlimited number of .htaccess and .htpasswd files.
- Simple installation, upload one file, run via web browser and choose a password.
Version restrictions:
- DirectoryPass is available free of charge for all uses and purposes (i.e. personal, education, commercial etc.). The only requirements being that you must maintain the HTML link back to Locked-Area.com and Powered by DirectoryPass text at the footer of all the CGI scripts HTML outputs. We also require that all users of DirectoryPass register a members area account on our web site, the registration process for this requires that you input the web site URL/address that the software will be installed on and you are required to keep this information up-to-date. The compulsory link back can be removed for a small fee which can be purchased during registration. Only one account is required to download both Locked Area Lite and DirectoryPass.
Enhancements:
- This is a complete rewrite from version 1.2, including a redesigned interface allowing for directory browsing and new features such as .htaccess file removal.
- It is now Windows-compatible.

Ogham 0.1.3

Ogham 0.1.3

Ogham is designed to be a wiki like cms for non technical users. more>>
Ogham project is designed to be a wiki like cms for non technical users. The emphasis is on ease of use over features. Non technical users have difficulty with any markup language so I felt a WYSIWYG editor was essential.
Word users find wiki syntax and the automatic generation of links to be annoying so I have replaced this with a tree structure for navigation and easy linking within the site.
Ogham has currently been tested on linux and windows servers and with the firefox 1.0+, IE 6 and Konqueror 3.3.2 browsers.
Its highly unlikely that it will work bug free with any other browsers, but I am working on support for Safari. In KHTML (Konqueror & Safari) based browsers WYSIWYG editing has only recently become available and I am working to support them.
This system has been ported to Snakelets after initially being developed with webware. Snakelets has the advantage of an integrated webserver and better documentation (IMHO). A large part of its advantage may simply have been that it resembles tomcat and I come from a java background.
Enhancements:
- The rename option has been added to the context menu.
- There are miscellaneous minor bugfixes.

CSSTidy 1.3

CSSTidy 1.3

CSSTidy is an opensource CSS parser and optimizer. more>>
CSSTidy is an opensource CSS parser and optimizer. The project is available as executeable file (available for Windows, Linux and OSX) which can be controlled per command line and as PHP script (both with almost the same functionality).
In opposite to most other CSS parsers, no regular expressions are used and thus CSSTidy has full CSS2 support and a higher reliability.
Main features:
- colours like "black" or rgb(0,0,0) are converted to #000000 or rather #000 if possible. Some hex-codes are replaced by their colour names if they are shorter.
- a{property:x;property:y;} becomes a{property:y;} (all duplicate properties are merged)
- margin:1px 1px 1px 1px; becomes margin:1px;
- margin:0px; becomes margin:0;
- a{margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px; margin-left:10px; margin-right:10px;} becomes a{margin:10px;}
- margin:010.0px; becomes margin:10px;
- all unnecessary whitespace is removed, depending on the compression-level
- all background-properties are merged
- all comments are removed
- the last semicolon in every block can be removed
- missing semicolons are added, incorrect newlines in strings are fixed, missing units are added, bad colors (and color names) are fixed
- property:value ! important; becomes property:value !important.
Why optimise?
If you optimise your CSS code you have faster loading pages and lower traffic costs. So both you and your visitors benefit from an optimisation. If you are interested in a faster loading webpage, websiteoptimization.com might also be an interesting resource.
Compression ratio
The compression ratio mostly depends on the level of whitespace-removal. Using standard whitespace-removal (which preserves the readability) the compression ratio often is 30% and more. In theory the compression ratio can be 99,99% but only very "stupid" stylesheets will allow those ratios. Also have a look at the examples.
Apart from compression
If a high compression is not important for you, you can also use CSSTidy to format or fix CSS code for a higher browser compatibility. Apart from the 4 default templates you can specify custom templates so that you can easily format a lot of CSS code using your own coding style. Other features are sorting and changing the case of selectors and properties.
Enhancements:
- Note: This is the last version of CSSTidy. If youd like continue maintaining it, let me know.
- FS#146 - Quotes
- FS#147 - Universal selector before classes, IDs and attribute selectors
- FS#150 - Wrong trasformation of a big integer value
- FS#144 ? !important rule
- FS#140: Fixing Values of Invalid properties
- [ 1745894 ] @media merge strangeness (cssTidy.exe version)
- FS#143: Save some more bytes
