Stippler is software for turning greyscale images into "stippled" images. Stippler project uses a method described in research by Adrian Secord.

Stippler requires X11, OpenGL, and libpgm. Hardware accelerated OpenGL is required for high performance. To build stippler, simply install any needed development packages and type "make".

Several binaries are created, one for each different output format. These include postscript (stippler_ps), "g-code" to control a 3-axis milling machine (stippler), and a format I used to drive a DAC connected to an XY scope (stippler_dac).

Usage:

[environment] stippler pgmfile [scale [dotcount]] > outputfile

VARIABLE_SIZE: if set, use variable-size dots
REVERSE_VIDEO: if set, use black dots on a white background

pgmfile:

A greyscale input file in "pgm" format. It generally must be smaller than the screen resolution.

scale:

internally use SCALExSCALE tiles each the size of the input image to make higher dotcount images give better results. If scale is bigger than 16, it is taken to be the dotcount, and scale is chosen to give approximately 500 pixels per output dot.

dotcount:

use this many dots, instead of a dot count that gives approximately 500 pixels per output dot

LaTrine project is a language vocabulary drill.

LaTrine is a curses-based LAnguage TRaINEr. It takes a dictionary and asks you for a word or a phrase, and you try to give the correct answer.

The direction is configurable. The selection of the words or phrases depends on how often you dont know the correct translation.

It can be used with the Free Dictionaries Project, which provides dictionaries for about 50 language combinations.

Zepto CMS is a minimal CMS.

I wrote Zepto CMS for my personal use but figured that maybe others might make use of it too. It has its own rights management which consists of groups and member structures. With these one can control the whole site and give priviliges to friends.

This project is not near finished. The core is almost done but Zepto rely on modules for every task to be done. Since a lot of modules arent written yet, this software are not recomended for the average user. It may require some python knowlege to do some certain stuff. However, if that dont scare you off, then youre welcome to give it a try.

wmtz displays the time in different time zones as defined in its configuration file. wmtz can also display the current Julian Day Number, sidereal time and swatch beats.
Enhancements:
- Added option TZONE for time zone time with automatic compensation for daylight savings time. You have to give a correct TZ environment string in order for this to work (see: man tzset for a description of the TZ environment variable).
- Added a monochrome bitmap. Activate it with the -m command line option.

h4xx0ri5e is a service menu which renames files to give them a more hackerish look.

Installation:

just copy (i assume youve got kde in the standard place):
h4xx0r15e.desktop to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus (for yourself), or
to /usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/ (for everyone), and
h4xx0r15e.sh to one of the $PATH directories, f.ex. /usr/local/bin, or /usr/bin

Known problems:

doesnt work with filenames with spaces. sorry, i just dont feel like trying to fix it now since i know the whole thing is useless and pure fun, anyway.

Mail Avenger is a highly-configurable, MTA-independent SMTP server daemon. Mail Avenger lets users run messages through filters like ClamAV and SpamAssassin during SMTP transactions, so the server can reject mail before assuming responsibility for its delivery.
Other unique features include TCP SYN fingerprint and network route recording, verification of sender addresses through SMTP callbacks, SPF (sender policy framework) as a general policy language, qmail-style control over both SMTP-level behavior and local delivery of extension addresses, mail-bomb protection, integration with kernel firewalls, and more.
Enhancements:
- Several minor bugs were fixed.
- The SMTPCB configuration directive was changed to give more options.
- An InsecureSASL configuration option was added by request of users.

MySQL Activity Report is a valuable database tuning aid.

The MySQL Activity Report package is a tool to help MySQL database administrators to collect several database parameters and variables. These collected values can be used for server monitoring or performance tuning purposes.

The most important component of the MySQL Activity Report is mysqlard. This daemon collects the data from a MySQL server and stores these values in a Round Robin Database.

The mysqlard package also contains example graphing, cron and php scripts. The cron scripts can be used to keep archives of the generated graphics and the php script shows the generated graphics and tries to give some tuning tips.
