kavi2dvd is a Kommander script takes an AVI file, converts it to mpeg2 with ac3 audio and generates an .iso image ready for burning as its ouput.

Although there are plenty of scripts out there for conversion of video and authoring, this one is designed to require as little user input as possible. Choose an input .avi, select the destination folder, give the project a name and choose NTSC or PAL.

It then automates the full process of creating a dvd-video compatible image for playback on a stand-alone dvd player.

stabilize is a tool for stabilizing shaking movies. more>>
stabilize is a tool for stabilizing shaking movies.

Sometimes videos are recorded with a free hand, which produces shaky movies.

This program compares each frame with previous frames and tries to find out to which offset it should shift that frame to make the movie more stable.

Usage

Compile it:

$ g++ -o stabilize stabilize.cpp -Llib -lavformat -lavcodec -lz -I/usr/include/ffmpeg/

Run it:

$ ./stabilize test.avi | ffmpeg -f imagepipe -img pnm -i - -sameq output.avi

OpenVIP 1.1.0

OpenVIP 1.1.0

OpenVIP is a flexible video-processing tool for Unix. more>>
OpenVIP software is a flexible video-processing tool for Unix. It consists of two parts:
1. OpenVIP core, which is written in C/C++. You can use it either as a library linked with your code, or as a standalone application for batch processing of multimedia files (you specify what to do in a XML file).
2. OpenVIP GUI written in Python, which provides a user-friendly interface to the core. It is based on the timeline concept: You place multimedia files on the timeline and apply various filters and transitions on them.
Main features:
- Support for a wide range of multimedia files (and codecs) including AVI, MPEG, MP3. We use libraries from the ffmpeg project for reading and writing files. It is also possible to read AVI files using native codecs under Windows.
- A lot of nice plugins including colour transformations, geometric distortions, basic sound processing and transitions between two movies. See the online HTML documentation for screenshots.
- Simple interface for including your own plugins written in C/C++. It is described in the comprehensive Developers Documentation.

Thoggen 0.6.0

Thoggen 0.6.0

Thoggen is a DVD backup utility (DVD ripper). more>>
Thoggen project is a DVD backup utility (DVD ripper) for Linux, based on GStreamer and Gtk+.
Note: Thoggen is still beta software, but should work fine nevertheless. Make sure you check the list of known issues.
Thoggen is designed to be easy and straight-forward to use. It attempts to hide the complexity many other transcoding tools expose and tries to offer sensible defaults that work okay for most people most of the time.
Main features:
- Easy to use, with a nice graphical user interface (GUI)
- Supports title preview, picture cropping, and picture resizing.
- Language Selection for audio track (no subtitle support yet though)
- Encodes into Ogg/Theora video
- Can encode from local directory with video DVD files
- Based on the GStreamer multimedia framework, which makes it fairly easy to add additional encoding formats/codecs in future.
Supported formats:
Ogg/Theora:- Theora video with Vorbis audio in an Ogg container (in case you have not heard of Theora before: it is basically what Vorbis is for audio - a patent-free, royalty-free codec that can be implemented by anone and is supported by recent versions of all major media players on all major platforms).
AVI/divx/mpeg4:- More formats, like MPEG4/divx/xvid in AVI etc., will be added once the core functionality has been finished and works reliably.
Thoggen is licensed under the GNU General Public license (GPL).

playvideo is a video player for svgalib that supports AVI, Quicktime (though not all codecs are supported), MPEG-1, and MPEG-2 formats. Most of the codecs are ported from xanim (or are xanim binary codecs). The parts from xanim are to be found mainly in the vidplay.c file. This makes this program subject to the xanim copyright (see README.xanim).

You can use the program for non-commercial purpose, but you need a License from Mark Podlipec for commercial use. Modified versions have included Marks copyright.

Stopmotion 0.6.0

Stopmotion 0.6.0

Stopmotion is a free application for creating stop-motion animation movies. more>>
Stopmotion is a free application for creating stop-motion animation movies. The users will be able to create stop-motions from pictures imported from a camera or from the harddrive, add sound effects and export the animation to different video formats such as mpeg or avi.

Stopmotion creates stop motion animations by combining images imported from a v4l (or similar) device with sound.

Installation:

If you run Debian the easiest way to install this program is to add this line to your sources.list file:

deb http://www.skolelinux.no/~bjoern/debian/ unstable main

Then run apt-get update and apt-get install stopmotion.

If you do not run Debian you have to compile the program from source. We have not focused on getting the configure script as good as it should be; you will not get any error message if you do not have the necessary libraries installed. This will hopefully be fixed later.
