The Life of a Geek is very silly console game in which you (a geek) must keep a computer running until you graduate college.
Surf around on the Internet, battling hackers to gain money and better security for your box. Drink lots of caffeine to keep yourself awake, since if you go to sleep, you risk an attack on your computer.
The Life of a Geek is a simple console game.
Save up money to take a month-long college course and improve your education, but remember that paying attention to schoolwork also leaves your computer open to attack.
Find a quick job for a month at places like fast-food restaurants and grocery stores, but remember again that time away from your computer leaves it open to attack. Viruses may also appear on your computer, weakening your computers health points regularly until cleaned.
Enhancements:

Spoink is an output-plugin for snort that works by blocking access to attackers using OpenBSDs pf api.

All you need is an OpenBSD machine (or pf compatible), and snort (last version works well).

Spoink uses a pf table and a blocking rule to stop "attackers" accessing our system. To protect from false negatives you must have a whitelist full of ips you want save (see section 2).

Spoink program only blocks attacks defined in snort rules so think for a minute what rules you want to use first.

IceBreaker project is an addictive action-puzzle game involving bouncing penguins.
IceBreaker is an action-puzzle game in which you must capture penguins from an Antarctic iceberg so they can be shipped to Finland, where they are essential to a secret plot for world domination.
To earn the highest Geek Cred, trap them in the smallest space in the shortest time while losing the fewest lives. IceBreaker was inspired by (but isnt an exact clone of) Jezzball by Dima Pavlovsky.

- slightly increase bonus for clearing more than 80 on higher levels to help counteract the fact that having more penguins make that more and more impossible

QtHello project is an Othello game and toolkit.

Its design makes it easy to extend both the computer player and human player interfaces. It currently has 6 different computer players ranging from completely random to tree search with Alpha-Beta pruning.

Its mainly meant as a toolkit for Othello developers wanting to concentrate on the AI routine and not the GUI. Although I think normal Othello entusiasts might find this game enjoyable especially when the computer players get smarter.

The GeeXboX is no more than an awesome standalone media player. Why such a name ? Well, its main purpose is to play DivX movies and, as everybody usually call this kind of projects DivX boxes, well just prepended a "GeeX", cause thats for the geeks you all are.
GeeXboX is a full operating system, livecd that can run on any machine and it is based on the excellent MPlayer. No need for a hard drive, you just have to put the GeeXboX bootable CD into the CD-Drive of any Pentium-class computer to boot it. Moreover, GeeXboX is free software, created as open-source software. This means that everyone can modify it and build his own release of the GeeXboX.
You may wonder why you should have to boot another operating system to play your media files, but just think about the Mini-ITX platforms like VIA Epia/Eden or Shuttle barebones. Its now affordable to bring DivX to your home cinema, plugging this kind of computer directly to your TV !!
At the time of the first development releases (Dec. 2002), it was only capable of playing DivX movies, but now, nearly every kind of media file can be played with GeeXboX, with the OS supporting :
- MPEG 1/2 movies (MPG files, VCDs, DVDs ...)
- MPEG 4 movies (DivX, XviD ...)
- RealMedia and Windows Media movies.
- OggMedia streams
- Matroska streams
- Audio streams like : MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, WAV (AudioCD), AC3 ...
GeeXboX is an operating system but you still need something to boot on ;-) Youre lucky, GeeXboX is based on MPlayer, which can be considered as one of the less cpu-dependent movie players, thanks to the use of FFMpeg for decoding movies.

Enhancements:
- GeeXboX 1.1. Although development never stopped, more than a year has passed without any new official GeeXboX release. This new one is a really good candidate for your HTPC multimedia distribution choice. It comes with an improved hardware support, providing dozens of new drivers (a lot of new WiFi controllers, DVB card chipsets and new remote controls). It also comes with a massively upgraded and more stable MPlayer, which features native decoding of various audio and video formats that used to be available through non-free Win32 DLLs only. Also, GeeXboX now has some decoding speed improvements and the OSD menu has been completely rewritten to provide a lot of new attractive features.

Geekbench is a cross-platform benchmark for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. While Geekbench is still under heavy development, we think it’s useful enough that other people might be interested in running it.

Geekbench tries to measure the performance an average application can expect from the computer being benchmarked. As such, all of the benchmarks in Geekbench are written in platform-neutral C and C++, and have no platform-specific optimizations, and Geekbench is compiled with what we consider the de-facto standard compiler for each platform, with the compiler switches suggested by the compiler for release code.
