Bulk Image Resizing Thing 1.2.1

Bulk Image Resizing Thing 1.2.1

BIRT is a simple application that allows a large number of images to be resized in one go. more>>
BIRT, the Batch Image Resizing Thing, is a simple application that allows a large number of images to be resized in one go. Obviously this is possible by scripting ImageMagick but its usually somewhat easier with a GUI.
Bulk Image Resizing Thing was created in order to learn how to develop using the Qt library, and to facilitaty the maintenance of an online photo album where each hi-res photo needs a low-res copy and a thumbnail.
Usage
BIRT has a hypertext based online help system (visible in some of the screenshots below), to access this simply start the application and click on the Help button at the bottom of the BIRT window.
If you cant wait to read the help then here is a basic guide to using BIRT: simply select the image files to be resized, enter the new size, select the output directory and press Go. A more detailed instruction set, include explanations of the ratio options and output suffix/prefix fields can be found in the How To Use BIRT section of the help.
Enhancements:
- A problem with the Help dialog that would prevent it being re-opened if it was closed using the systems close window widget rather than the "Quit" button was fixed.

Bubble Thing - Inflate things. Pop them to create chain reactions. Meet the boss at the end.

Inflate things. Fast to make them pop. Slow to make them grow. Make chains. Meet the boss. Enjoy the music.

Arrow keys move.

WASD to inflate in four directions.

Popping bigger bubbles will spawn more chain-bullets which will pop other bubbles creating chain reactions. They will also release more collectables which net you a greater score.

This game was programmed during the three-day Toronto Game Jam, 2006. I started with my framework, a song, and an idea.

The Library of Assorted Spiffy Things 0.7

The Library of Assorted Spiffy Things was originally designed as a companion library to Eterm. more>>
The Library of Assorted Spiffy Things was originally designed as a companion library to Eterm.
However, it contains many features that other projects may find useful, so it has been broken out into its own library.
Features include thorough debugging and memory tracking engines, various string manipulation functions, and a flexible config file parsing engine.
Enhancements:
- The string class is now both an interface and an implementation, so parallel implementations (e.g., a glib string wrapper) can be created.
- Detection of Imlib2 support and a pixmap leak when it was disabled have been fixed.
- Fixes have been made for gcc4/newer autotools.
- This release also contains a fix for CVE-2006-0224, a buffer overflow which could lead to privilege escalation in setuid/setgid apps using LibASTs configuration engine.

Globus Toolkit 4.0.4

Globus Toolkit 4.0.4

Globus Toolkit is an open source software toolkit used for building grids. more>>
Globus Toolkit is an open source software toolkit used for building grids. It is being developed by the Globus Alliance and many others all over the world.
A growing number of projects and companies are using the Globus Toolkit to unlock the potential of grids for their cause.
The open source Globus Toolkit is a fundamental enabling technology for the "Grid," letting people share computing power, databases, and other tools securely online across corporate, institutional, and geographic boundaries without sacrificing local autonomy. The toolkit includes software services and libraries for resource monitoring, discovery, and management, plus security and file management. In addition to being a central part of science and engineering projects that total nearly a half-billion dollars internationally, the Globus Toolkit is a substrate on which leading IT companies are building significant commercial Grid products.
The toolkit includes software for security, information infrastructure, resource management, data management, communication, fault detection, and portability. It is packaged as a set of components that can be used either independently or together to develop applications. Every organization has unique modes of operation, and collaboration between multiple organizations is hindered by incompatibility of resources such as data archives, computers, and networks. The Globus Toolkit was conceived to remove obstacles that prevent seamless collaboration. Its core services, interfaces and protocols allow users to access remote resources as if they were located within their own machine room while simultaneously preserving local control over who can use resources and when.
The Globus Toolkit has grown through an open-source strategy similar to the Linux operating systems, and distinct from proprietary attempts at resource-sharing software. This encourages broader, more rapid adoption and leads to greater technical innovation, as the open-source community provides continual enhancements to the product.
Enhancements:
- This release adds a new reliable file transfer client. It has been upgraded to SpiderMonkey version 1.60, GPT 3.9, and OpenSSH 4.5p1 with the high performance patch, and ported to Mac OS X / Intel x86.
- Test coverage, credentials handling in the security module, and handling of XML schema have been improved.
- An authorization portal framework has been introduced.

Bist 0.4.4

Bist 0.4.4

Bist stands for bidimensional structures and is a chemical drawing tool. more>>
Bist stands for bidimensional structures (in italian it sounds like "beast" in english ) and is a chemical drawing tool. It is focused on organic chemistry but it may be useful also for chemists or teacher as well.
Bist support many of the formalism used to describe molecoles structures like single bond, double bond, stereospecific bond, charges, resonance arrows, lone pairs etc...
Bist project can export both postscript and png (poor drawing at this time) formats.
This version is now integrated with openbabel API so virtually all the formats this library can accept should be a valid input for bist too.
Currently portability is not my goal so only GNU/Linux platform is supported. However any effort in this direction is appreciated so feel free to ask me about any porting question. Please remember that bist is actually in a beta stage of development so i strongly suggest you to not using it except for testing or hacking purpose.
Main features:
- Input in native and more than 20 different formats(CML, XYZ, mol etc.) ;
- export in SVG, PostScript, FIG and PNG format via plotutils;
- simple template system;
- support for i18n;
- plug-in system;
- translation, scaling, flipping, 3D and 2D rotation;
- unlimited undo level;
- parsing of linear fragments (i.e. -CH2CH(C=OOH)2).

LinCVS 1.4.4

LinCVS 1.4.4

LinCVS is an easy to use graphical CVS client. more>>
LinCVS is a graphical Interface for the cvs client commandline tool on the Unix, Windows and Mac OS X platform. LinCVS allows to load modules from a server (checkout), create modules on the server (import), as well as checking the state of directories and individual files or updating them.
Basic operations like add, remove and commit are supported as matter of course, just like showing the actual differences between the server version and the local sandbox, graphical display of the version tree, and manifoldy graphical support of project maintenance. All actions are logged on the cvs server (configurable via history), and are therewith comprehensible.
To keep LinCVS independant of the cvs version, LinCVS uses the local but separat installed cvs and therewith always should work with the latest version.
After choosing a startup dir, the project-explorer searches the subdirectories for cvs projects, and displays these on the workbench. Now all functions on one/many files or whole directories can be accessed over pulldown menues or simply a right mouseclick. The state of the individual directories is continuously scanned by LinCVS.
This means the symbol of the dir tells the user that there are for example still uncommited changes somewhere in the depth of a dir hierarchy, even without having opened them yet. So the project state is visualized right after a cvs status call. Completed with on-the-fly dir scanning, LinCVS is qualified for large projects with many thousand files.
Because of the continuous efforts of network administrators, to encrease network security, LinCVS supports all standard cvs connection protocols. Proxy support is also available, this requires a patched cvs. This is of course available on our download page.
Because LinCVS does not affect the cvs internal project maintenance, a concurrent use with cvs commandline is possible. The function of the LinCVS dir state display is not impaired therewith.
Even though LinCVS graphically supports almost the whole cvs range of functions (and is continuously under development;-), it is easy to customize the GUI to the individual needs. Popup menues are freely configurable, while the menues always provide full feature access. An extra toolbar enables direct access to often used features.
In contrast to other programs this one is really easy to use.
Enhancements:
- This version fixes a lot of bugs.

LogMon 0.4.4

LogMon 0.4.4

LogMon project will monitor one or more log files. more>>
LogMon project will monitor one or more log files, updating when more data is available ala tail -f , within a common terminal window via a "split window". User can scroll up/down/left/right through all the windows.
A header displays each frames file name, and number of lines in the file. Very useful when watching several log files at the same time. Ive tested this under Linux and FreeBSD (as of 0.3.3) and I have had reports of it working under MacOS X 10.4.7, but it should work under other Unices. Please let me know if you get it working on another OS.
Enhancements:
- Fixed a scroll-back bug when using page-up
- Added individual frame selection

XPilot 4.5.4

XPilot 4.5.4

XPilot is a multi-player 2D client/server space game. more>>
XPilot project is a multi-player 2D client/server space game.
XPilot is a multi-player 2D space game. Some features are borrowed from classics like the Atari coin-ups Asteroids and Gravitar, and the home-computer games Thrust (Commodore 64) and Gravity Force (Commodore Amiga), but XPilot has many new aspects too.
Main features:
- True client/server based game; optimal speed for every player.
- Meta server with up to date information about servers hosting games around the world.
- A web of world-wide rating servers; compare your skills with pilots from all around the world, and climb the ladder of the world-wide rating list.
- Real physics; particles of explosions and sparks from your engines all affect you if youre hit by them. This makes it possible to kill someone by blowing them into a wall with engine thrust or shock waves from explosions.
- Specialized editors for editing ship-shapes and maps.
- Game objective and gameplay adjustable through a number of options, specified on the commandline, in special option files, or in the map files. Examples of modes of the game:
- classical dogfight; equipped with only your gun, you have to rely on your maneuvering and tactical skills
- team; fight together, steal other teamss treasures (involves flying around with a ball in a string, much like in Thrust) and blow up their targets (which are, no doubt, heavily guarded)
- all out nuclear war; chose carefully between more than twenty weapon and defense systems to stay alive and annihilate your enemies
- race; make it through the deadly course before your opponents
- Adjustable gravity; adjustable by putting special attractors or deflectors in the world, or by adjusting the global gravity in various ways.
- Cannons and personalized and vengeful robot fighters give you a hard time.
- Watch your energy, and remember to dock with a fuel station to refuel before its too late.
- Defend your home base, or terrorize and steal someone elses.
- Equip your ship with the 15+ defense and weapon systems: afterburners, cloaking devices, sensors, transporters, extra cannons, mines and bombs, rockets (smarts, torpedos and nuclear), ECM, laser, extra tanks, autopilot etc.
To start playing, you need to connect to a server by using a client program called xpilot. There are always servers running if you check with the meta server, but if you for some reason do not want to join them, youll have to start a server of your own (see man-page xpilots(6)).
Enhancements:
- Team cannons could kill teammates with laser pulses. Fixed.
- On the map Death Star one can destroy a large number of targets with one FNC. This results in packet buffer overflows and slow updates. To overcome this a smarter map update algorithm is implemented in the server and also map updates are now limited to max 2 KB per network packet.
- The default score font was reduced from 15 to 13.
- When the server sends map updates to the client these are now always acknowledged immediately by the client. This should help prevent stalls or lock-ups on maps where are a large number of targets or cannons can be destroyed. It should also reduce the number of very big server frame update packets.
- Robots no longer try to go after players who arent in playing mode.

Bottle 0.4.4

Bottle 0.4.4

WSGI micro web framework + templates more>>

Bottle 0.4.4 is created as a fast, simple and useful one-file WSGI framework and templates with a ton of features.

Bottle is a fast, simple and useful one-file WSGI framework. It is not a full-stack framework with a ton of features, but a useful mirco-framework for small web-applications that stays out of your way.

Bottle only depends on the Python Standard Library. If you want to use a HTTP server other than wsgiref.simple_server you may need cherrypy, flup or paste (your choice).

Major Features:

  1. Request dispatching: Map requests to handler-callables using URL-routes.
  2. URL parameters: Use regular expressions /object/(?P[0-9]+) or simplified syntax /object/:id to extract data out of URLs.
  3. WSGI abstraction: Dont worry about cgi and wsgi internals.
  4. Input: request.GET[parameter] or request.POST[form-field]
  5. HTTP header: response.header[Content-Type] = text/html.
  6. Cookie Management: response.COOKIES[session] = new_key.
  7. Static files: send_file(movie.flv, /downloads/) with automatic mime-type guessing.
  8. Errors: Throw HTTP errors using abort(404, Not here) or subclass HTTPError and use custom error handlers.
  9. Templates: Integrated template language.
  10. Plain simple: Execute python code with %... or use the inline syntax {{...}} for one-line expressions.
  11. No IndentationErrors: Blocks are closed by %end. Indentation is optional.
  12. Extremely fast: Parses and renders templates 5 to 10 times faster than mako.
  13. Support for Mako-Templates (requires mako).
  14. HTTP Server: Build in WSGI/HTTP Gateway server (for development and production mode)
  15. Currently supports wsgiref.simple_server (default), cherrypy, flup, paste and fapws3.
  16. Speed optimisations:
  • Sendfile: Support for platform-specific high-performance file-transmission facilities, such as the Unix sendfile()
  • Depends on wsgi.file_wrapper provided by your WSGI-Server implementation.
  • Self optimising routes: Frequently used routes are tested first (optional)
  • Fast static routes (single dict lookup)

Requirements:

  • Python
