Ginterface 1.2.5

Ginterface 1.2.5

ginterface is an instant messenger application to communicate with people. more>>
ginterface is an instant messenger application to communicate with people. ginterface is aimed for the easy communication between people working in Linux Desktops.

You can set up ginterface in your LAN workspace, to communicate with people in that LAN. For using ginterface there is no need for an Internet connection and its all with in the LAN. ginterface has a separate server, gifserver (gif is the acronym of ginterface).

Run this server in one of the LAN systems and start using gif. The only thing to take note is the IP Address of the system in which the server is running, coz., this IP is needed to connect gifclient (client part of gif) to the server.

gifserver is written to run in CUI and gifclient in GUI with user-friendly interfaces. The administrator of the server has the power to add new user to ginterface.

When a new user is added, you can add him/her in your contact list. There are facilities for offline messages also. You can send offline messages to any of your contacts and he/she can see that when he/she logs in again.

tinc 1.0.8

tinc 1.0.8

tinc is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) daemon that uses tunneling and encryption to create a secure private network. more>>
tinc is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) daemon that uses tunnelling and encryption to create a secure private network between hosts on the Internet.
tinc is Free Software and licensed under the GNU General Public License.
Because the VPN appears to the IP level network code as a normal network device, there is no need to adapt any existing software. This allows VPN sites to share information with each other over the Internet without showing any information to others.
Main features:
- Encryption, authentication and compression
- All traffic is optionally compressed using zlib or LZO, and OpenSSL is used to encrypt the traffic and protect it from alteration with message authentication codes and sequence numbers.
- Automatic full mesh routing
- Regardless of how you set up the tinc daemons to connect to each other, VPN traffic is always (if possible) sent directly to the destination, without going through intermediate hops.
- Easily expand your VPN
- When you want to add nodes to your VPN, all you have to do is add an extra configuration file, there is no need to start new daemons or create and configure new devices or network interfaces.
- Ability to bridge ethernet segments
- You can link multiple ethernet segments together to work like a single segment, allowing you to run applications and games that normally only work on a LAN over the Internet.
- Runs on many operating systems and supports IPv6
- Currently Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, MacOS/X, Solaris, Windows 2000 and XP platforms are supported. See our section about supported platforms for more information about the state of the ports. tinc has also full support for IPv6, providing both the possibility of tunneling IPv6 traffic over its tunnels and of creating tunnels over existing IPv6 networks.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes some memory and resource leaks, and makes network sockets non-blocking under Windows.

Gchore 1.0

Gchore 1.0

Gchore is a simple tool that tracks your chores, and reminds you to do them on a daily basis. more>>
Gchore is a simple tool that tracks your chores, and reminds you to do them on a daily basis.

Gchore project is not a general todo list, it is better suited for repeating tasks, such as taking out the garbage on mondays.

Gchore was written with version 2.6 of GTK in C.

Gchore consists of a calendar, which displays the current month. Double clicking on a day will allow you to add a task to that day. you may also use the add/edit/delete task functions from the "Tasks" menu above the calendar. Preferences/options may be edited by selecting File->Preferences.

Gchore is highly configurable, and many of its features can be accessed through the preferences popup. One such preference is the email option. You can configure gchore to automatically email someone when a task is completed, or send out an email at a scheduled time, detailing what has been accomplished since the last email was sent.

The easiest way to start using gchore is to simply run it, and start adding tasks. It will automatically create all its databases in your home directory. There is no need to move these, but you can if you would like to. Once you have added a task, gchore will start issuing reminders to you via popup windows. Once you complete the task, click "completed", or if you dont feel like doing it today, click "procrastinate".

Custom Eclipse Builder 0.1

Custom Eclipse Builder 0.1

The Custom Eclipse Builder is a lightweight Ant-based project to build a company/personal customized Eclipse distribution. more>>
Custom Eclipse Builder is a lightweight Ant-based project to build a company and personal customized Eclipse distribution including company and personal relevant plugins, preferences and settings.
The modern software development process becomes more and more distributed characted. Now, a usual project is not a one-men work more, but a collective work of bunch of people communicating through network. Therefore, its very important that each involved developer stands to the rules and guidelines applied for the project.
There are many tools that makes the development process easy. One of these tools that increases in popularity more and more is Eclipse. The number of companies, organizations or project teams using Eclipse grows permanently. Typically, in such a company a developer takes itself care of downloading and configuring Eclipse and all kinds of Plugins.
Therefore, the more developers using Eclipse within of organization the more different versions, configurations and settings do exist. When a group of developers is working for a project and sharing the projects resources (and this is the typical case) using of different tools and versions may lead to any kinds of conflicts (unfortunately this is the typical case too).
The Custom Eclipse Builder is a very easy way to solve all these problems. After you have installed and configured Builder you can build your own Eclipse distribution each time you wish (e.g. by scheduling a cron job) in just a few minutes. The Builder will download all desired Eclipse- and plugins distributions full automatically.
There is no need to check a new plugins version you wish to include in the distribution is realised. The Custom Eclipse Builder takes care of plugins version management. Once installed and configured you can use Builder over a couple of months without any modifications.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes some minor bugs and supports building distributions based on Eclipse 3.2M1, 3.2M2, and 3.2M3.

IOC::Proxy::Interfaces 0.29

IOC::Proxy::Interfaces 0.29

IOC::Proxy::Interfaces is a IOC::Proxy subclasss to proxy objects with a given interface. more>>
IOC::Proxy::Interfaces is a IOC::Proxy subclasss to proxy objects with a given interface.

SYNOPSIS

use IOC::Proxy::Interfaces;

my $proxy_server = IOC::Proxy->new({
interface => AnInterface,
# ... add other config values here
});

$proxy_server->wrap($object);
# our $object is now proxied, but only the
# methods which are part of the interface
# will work, all others will throw exceptions

$object->method_in_interface(); # works as normal

$object->method_not_in_interface(); # will thrown an exception

This is a subclass of IOC::Proxy which allows for the partial proxing of an object. It will only proxy the methods of a given interface, all other methods will throw a IOC::MethodNotFound exception. This could be used to (in a very weird way) emulate the concept of upcasting in Java, it is also somewhat like the idea of using interfaces with Dynamic Proxies in Java as well (see the article link in "SEE ALSO").

This proxy can be useful if you need to have an object strictly conform to a particular interface in a particular situation. The interface class is also pushed onto the proxies @ISA so that it will respond to UNIVERSAL::isa($object, Interface) correctly. Keep in mind that there is no need for the object being proxied to have the interface in its @ISA prior to being proxied. The proxy is dynamic and only requires that the object conform to the interface when it is being wraped but the proxy object.

Tinyquizz 2.3

Tinyquizz 2.3

Tinyquizz is a deliberately simplistic tool to produce self-assessment quizzes. more>>
Tinyquizz project is a deliberately simplistic tool to produce self-assessment quizzes. Quizzes consist of a single entirely self-contained XHTML file. There is no need for a web server, PHP, database server, or e-learning platform to run them. A simple web browser is enough. It even fully works offline.
Quizzes produces by Tinyquizz can only be used for self-assessment because the answers are contained in the quizz file.
How does Tinyquizz work ?
Quizzes are written in XML, that is raw text with tags to delimit sections. For instance here is a question (tags are in bold):
< question>
< statement>You can cross when the light is < /statement>
< answer correct="no">Red< /answer>
< answer correct="yes">Green< /answer>
< /question>
Once you wrote the quizz you transform it with an XSLT processor or using the online transformer which does not require any installation.
Any basic text editor is ok to write Tinyquizz quizzes. However you may prefer to use a dedicated XML text editor such as Jaxe which can additionally ensure that the syntax is correct. Indeed you need to use the right tag at the right place
Enhancements:
- Input widgets are now locked once the result is displayed.
- A new reset button has been added.
- A new optional < justification > tag can now be added after each answer to provide the user with individualized feedback.
- Disc bullets are used for answers when there is no correct answer.
- New reference documentation is now available on the Web site as well as in the distribution.

mezoGIS 0.1.5

mezoGIS 0.1.5

mezoGIS is a GIS application, a graphical interface to query and analyse spatial data. more>>
mezoGIS project is a GIS application, a graphical interface to query and analyse spatial data. mezoGIS does not store or compute data directly, but operates external PostGIS databases. The goal of mezoGIS is to provide a tool for geo-spatial analysis with PostGIS, through on-the-fly SQL queries as well as through larger, external plugin scripts.
There are other, excellent open source applications that can display PostGIS data sets (like QGis or GRASS). Those projects, however, expect properly indexed tables as an input, and dont provide a built in functionality to launch SQL queries. The focus of mezoGIS is to stay close to the SQL workflow: Spatial queries are launched through manually entered SQL commands, and result sets containing geometry are displayed as map layers.
The first public release of mezoGIS was in march 2006. mezoGIS is entirely written in the python programming language, for gtk+. It works fine on the GNOME Desktop on linux, and has not yet been tested on other desktops or platforms.
Main features:
- Fast SQL queries: SQL commands and queries can be entered and sent to PostGIS within mezoGIS. Common SQL tasks and commands can also be accessed though context menues.
- View any kind of result: SQL queries yield result tables. If such a table contains geometric data, mezoGIS will display it in a map. There is no need to copy the data into a table or to create spatial indices. This is very useful for on-the-fly geoanalysis.
- Map creation: Result sets can be overlayed and layouted to create elaborate maps, the display engine currently has rough support for transparent colours, line styles, and symbols.
- Plugin engine: Plugin scripts written in python can be loaded and executed. The API is only a very rudimentary implementation, and will be subject to substantial change.
- XML file format: Projects are saved into an XML file format. The data itself is not stored, and must be reloaded from the database after loading.

eCryptfs 0.1.7

eCryptfs 0.1.7

eCryptfs is an POSIX-compliant enterprise-class stacked cryptographic filesystem for Linux. more>>
eCryptfs is an POSIX-compliant enterprise-class stacked cryptographic filesystem for Linux. eCryptfs is derived from Erez Zadoks Cryptfs, implemented through the FiST framework for generating stacked filesystems.
eCryptfs extends Cryptfs to provide advanced key management and policy features. eCryptfs stores cryptographic metadata in the header of each file written, so that encrypted files can be copied between hosts; the file will be decryptable with the proper key, and there is no need to keep track of any additional information aside from what is already in the encrypted file itself. Think of eCryptfs as a sort of ``gnupgfs.
eCryptfs is a native Linux filesystem (other popular cryptographic filesystems for Linux require FUSE or operate via RPC calls). It can be built and distributed as a stand-alone kernel module for the Linux kernel version 2.6.15 or higher; there is no need to apply any kernel patches.
Enhancements:
- Legacy releases of eCryptfs.

Unison 2.13.16

Unison 2.13.16

Unison is a file synchronizer. more>>
Unison is a file-synchronization tool for Unix and Windows. It allows two replicas of a collection of files and directories to be stored on different hosts (or different disks on the same host), modified separately, and then brought up to date by propagating the changes in each replica to the other.
Unison shares a number of features with tools such as configuration management packages (CVS, PRCS, Subversion, BitKeeper, etc.), distributed filesystems (Coda, etc.), uni-directional mirroring utilities (rsync, etc.), and other synchronizers (Intellisync, Reconcile, etc).
Main features:
- Unison runs on both Windows and many flavors of Unix (Solaris, Linux, OS X, etc.) systems. Moreover, Unison works across platforms, allowing you to synchronize a Windows laptop with a Unix server, for example.
- Unlike simple mirroring or backup utilities, Unison can deal with updates to both replicas of a distributed directory structure. Updates that do not conflict are propagated automatically. Conflicting updates are detected and displayed.
- Unlike a distributed filesystem, Unison is a user-level program: there is no need to modify the kernel or to have superuser privileges on either host.
- Unison works between any pair of machines connected to the internet, communicating over either a direct socket link or tunneling over an encrypted ssh connection. It is careful with network bandwidth, and runs well over slow links such as PPP connections. Transfers of small updates to large files are optimized using a compression protocol similar to rsync.
- Unison is resilient to failure. It is careful to leave the replicas and its own private structures in a sensible state at all times, even in case of abnormal termination or communication failures.
- Unison has a clear and precise specification.
- Unison is free; full source code is available under the GNU Public License.

CubeTest 0.9.4

CubeTest 0.9.4

CubeTest is a small program that allows you to train your spatial insight. more>>
CubeTest is a small program that allows you to train your spatial insight.
CubeTest is implemented with two different libraries, Trolltechs Qt library and the Java Swing library. The huge free software project KDE also uses the Qt library which means that this library is available on the majority of GNU/Linux systems.
The library is also freely available for Mac OS X. There are no other dependencies than either Qt or Java. There is no need for an OpenGL library despite the use of 3D objects.
For displaying the 3D objects Ive written a number of classes. A square in 3D is, when displayed without perspective, always visible as a trapezoid. Both the Qt and Java libraries allow a square to be sheared to a trapezoid. So with the right amount of shearing, a collection of squares looks like a 3D object.
The classes I wrote use this principle. Its fairly easy to make other 3D objects with these classes and use them as widgets. You can draw on the surface of the cubes as you would on a normal widget. In contrast with OpenGL, the scaling is done smoothly in the Qt classes. Its for example not hard to make a cube with sides that act as buttons as a replacement for boring 2D buttons.
The classes needed for makeing 3D objects are Object and Side. An object consists of an arbitrary number of Sides. Its also a Qt widget that can be manipulated with the mouse. In the downloadable package, theres a small demonstration program called fun which demonstrates the flexibility of the classes Object and Side.
Enhancements:
- Ported to Qt 4
- Two new languages: Italian and Portugese
- Cleanup autotools files

Stratos PHP Framework 1.0 RC1

Stratos PHP Framework 1.0 RC1

Stratos PHP Framework is an open-source, object-oriented web application framework. more>>
Stratos PHP Framework is an open-source, object-oriented web application framework that facilitates the rapid development of well-organized, secure, and maintainable PHP web applications. Stratos PHP Framework frees you from working on tedious, routine tasks, and allows you to focus on specific software requirements.
Main features:
Minimal Configuration
- The Stratos Framework is completely configurable from the web using the Developers Toolkit. This means you can spend less time getting set up and more time developing your applications.
- Object-Relational Mapping
- Using the StratosData plugin, you can easily map SQL tables to data objects. StratosData allows you to access Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, SQLite, and other databases without writing any SQL statements!
Scaffolding
- Stratos can automatically generate CRUD (Create, Retrieve, Update, Delete) interfaces for your tables. This means you can kick-start your application by generating default actions and views for manipulating your data. The generated actions and views can then be modified to meet your specific needs.
Define Views in PHP
- Stratos does not require you to learn a separate templating language in order to define your views. All views are created using PHP by default, so there is no need to learn a separate syntax and introduce additional overhead for the sole purpose of creating a view.
Compatibility
- Stratos is compatible with both PHP4 and PHP5. This means that your applications will run on the majority of web hosts. Stratos has been thoroughly tested on a variety of operating systems and databases.
Performance
- Stratos was designed from the ground up to be fast. The framework has built-in caching capabilities that you can easily utilize from within your applications. When using the StratosData plugin, you can speed up your applications even further by caching database information to disk.
Ease of use
- Unlike many frameworks, Stratos does not have a steep learning curve. Its easy to get started developing web applications using Stratos. Simply download the latest release, install Stratos on your server, and create an application!
Enhancements:
- This release includes major updates and a handful of new features, bugfixes, and performance enhancements.
- Enhancements include an improved approach to creating action controllers, simplified data objects, data object event functions, automatic data object validation, complete removal of the XML config files, improvements to the plugin architecture, and a new look-and-feel for the Stratos control panel.
- Stratos 1.0rc1 is not backwards compatible with 0.93.
- This release begins the 1.0 branch, and all future development on the 1.0 branch will be backwards compatible with this release.
