Pingus 0.6.0

Pingus 0.6.0

Pingus is a free Lemmings clone for GNU/Linux and Windows covered under the GNU GPL. more>>
Pingus is a free Lemmings clone for GNU/Linux and Windows covered under the GNU GPL. Pingus uses ClanLib and libxml and might also be usable on some other OSs like FreeBSD, but hasnt been tested there.

Pingus is mainly developed under GNU/Linux, thats why the Windows port is sometimes a bit behind.

Pingus has started at the end of 1998 with the simple goal to create a Free (as in freedom, not as in free beer) Lemmingstm clone. The Free means you get the sources and are allowed and encouraged to change and distribute them.

You basically get everything that I used to create this game. In the years it has grown than quite a bit over the original goal and become something more than just a clone, we have original artwork, a built-in level editor, new actions, multiplayer and a few other features.

If you dont know Lemmingstm, here comes a short introduction. Its a puzzle game developed in 1991 by DMA Design. The player takes command in the game of a bunch of small animals and has to guide them around in levels. Since the animals walk on their own, the player can only influence them by giving them commands, like build a bridge, dig a hole or redirect all animals in the other direction.

The goal of each level is to reach the exit, for fix multiple combination of commands are necessary. The game is presented in a 2D site view. For more information you might want to visit Lemmingstm fanpage

While Pingus is based on the idea of Lemmingstm, it has included some other ideas, which werent presented in the original Lemmingstm, like the worldmap or secret levels, which might be familiar from games the Super Mario World and other Nintendo games. We have also a few new actions, like the jumper which werent presented in the original game.

Linux on a Stick 0.3

Linux on a Stick 0.3

Linux on a stick is an attempt to make a Live-CD/USB-Flash server Linux distro. more>>
Linux on a Stick is an attempt to make a Live-CD/USB-Flash server Linux distro. At its heart is a very small and simple Linux distro that boots off CD/Flash and runs from RAM (Ie no spinning hard drives of death).
This approach allows us to strip the OS to its very basic components, which minimizes the amount of resources required. This distro is targeted towards Server administrator who are familiar with Linux, its only configuration method is the command line.
Enhancements:
- Linux kernel 2.4.33 was replaced with 2.6.18.8.
- A USB booting problem that would prevent it from booting on some BIOSs (Namely AMI) was resolved.
- The ARDIS iSCSI target was replaced with the Enterprise iSCSI target (v0.4.14).
- The Open iSCSI initiator (v2.0.754) package with kernel modules is included.
- The distribution now boots on more than just Intel CPUs.
- Userland tools (v3.6.19) and kernel FS support were included for ReiserFS and XFS.
- The PHP CLI is included in php-5.2.0 in root.gz initrd.

radmind 1.9.0

radmind 1.9.0

radmind is a remote administration daemon. more>>
radmind is a suite of Unix command-line tools and a server designed to remotely administer the file systems of multiple Unix machines. For Mac OS X, theres also a graphical interface.
At its core, radmind operates as a tripwire. radmind project is able to detect changes to any managed filesystem object, e.g. files, directories, links, etc. However, radmind goes further than just integrity checking: once a change is detected, radmind can optionally reverse the change.
Each managed machine may have its own loadset composed of multiple, layered overloads. This allows, for example, the operating system to be described separately from applications.
Loadsets are stored on a remote server. By updating a loadset on the server, changes can be pushed to managed machines.
Enhancements:
Major changes from 1.8.1:
- Added support for minus transcripts and special files in command files
- Ported to HP/UX. Thanks to Jim Foraker for the patch. [ PATCH 1733645 ]
Minor changes from 1.8.1:
- Daemon no longer displays -R in usage. Users should begin using -B
- Fixed bug where path to echo wasnt being set in ra.sh
- Fixed bug where fsdiff wasnt displaying correct version number

fastcgi++ 1.2

fastcgi++ 1.2

fastcgi++ provides you with an excellent and easy-to-use fastcgi++. more>>

fastcgi++ 1.2 provides you with an excellent and easy-to-use fastcgi++ library started out as a C++ alternative to the official FastCGI developers kit. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License.

Although the official developers kit provided some degree of C++ interface, it was very limited. The goal of this project was to provide a framework that offered all the facilities that the C++ language has to offer. Over time the scope broadened to the point that it became more than just a simple protocol library, but a platform to develop web application under C++.

To the dismay of many, this library has zero support for the old CGI protocol. The consensus was that if one were to be developing web applications under C++, efficient memory management and CPU usage would be a top priority, not CGI compatibility.

Major Features:

  1. Effective management of simultaneous requests without the need for multiple threads is something that fastcgi++ does best.
  2. Session data is organized into meaningful data types as opposed to a series of text strings. Internationalization and Unicode support is another top priority.
  3. The library is templated to allow internal wide character use for efficient text processing while code converting down to utf-8 upon transmission to the client.

Enhancements:

  • Fixed bug in parsing post data
  • Fixed buffer flushing bug

retawq 0.2.6c

retawq 0.2.6c

retawq is an interactive, multi-threaded network client (web browser) for text terminals on computers with Unix-like operating s more>>
retawq is an interactive, multi-threaded network client (web browser) for text terminals on computers with Unix-like operating systems. It is written in C, fast, small, nicely configurable, and comfortable; e.g. the low-level network communications are performed in a non-blocking way, and you can open many "virtual windows" as you want and work simultaneously in two of them in a split-screen mode.
Main features:
- multi-window - you can open as many "virtual windows" as you like and work simultaneously in two of them in a split-screen mode
- multi-view - you can view a long series of documents within each browser window and easily go back and forth
- internationalization (i18n) - optional support for several natural languages (currently English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese); cf. the compile-time configuration option OPTION_I18N
- mouse - optional mouse support for higher comfort; cf. the compile-time configuration option OPTION_TEXTMODEMOUSE
- contextual menus - so you need not remember all those boring keyboard commands :-)
- sessions - you can save current sessions and resume them at any later time
- keymaps - for the flexible association of keys with program actions
- incremental display - content is displayed as soon as it is received from the server; you need not twiddle thumbs until the whole document (or a large portion of it) has been received
- resizable terminals - retawq tries to utilize the extents of your terminal optimally; and when you resize it, the visible documents are immediately re-layouted within the new boundaries (if the libraries on your computer support this); any terminal size from 30x10 to 250x250 characters (width x height) is supported.
- several interfaces - theres more than just a web browser: you can start the program in different runmodes, e.g. to download a file "in the background" or to get a shell-like FTP client
- configurability - many compile-time, command-line and run-time configuration options are provided; additionally, you can choose the classical-style Makefile or the more modern/portable configure script
- multi-threading - retawq optionally uses (moderate) multi-threading in order to make fast, responsive use possible
- network protocols - several access methods are supported: HTTP/1.1 and 1.0 (including proxies and cookies), https (ditto), FTP, ftps, news/NNTP, finger, local files and directories, local CGI scripts; cf. URL Schemes for more information; other protocols will follow
- HTML renderer - more than 60 tags are known; the form support is quite complete (except file upload); more than 130 character entities are known, many others can be guessed; preliminary (little) support for tables and framesets exists
- IPv6 - optional support for the "next generation" Internet Protocol version; cf. the compile-time configuration option OPTION_IPV6
- fast, small, portable and stable - a special emphasis is put on keeping the program very fast and small but making it comfortable, nicely configurable and standards-compliant nevertheless
- low requirements - runs nicely even on slow computers with little memory; also doesnt require much from its environment: only a standard C library with rather little functionality is needed, anything else can be either disabled or configured to use existing libraries or to fall back on built-in replacements

PHP Content Management System 1.2.1pl2

PHP Content Management System 1.2.1pl2

PHP Content Management System is a content management system that provides dynamic menus and templates. more>>
phpCMS is a content management system, which convinces in particular by small system requirements, high performance and above all its flexibility.

phpCMS is suitable for small private web pages and also for complex professional appearances and high traffic websites including the integration of webservices and external applications.

Admitted - the flexibility of phpCMS makes the life not always easy for beginners - nevertheless for professionals, who rather want to create an unique website then clicking unflexible template blocks together, phpCMS gives all the freedom a webdesigner needs to support his creativity. This might be a reason, why even several webdesign companies are using phpCMS to create their own company website.

And the best of all is: phpCMS is Open Source (licensed unter the GPL)and is free of any charges available - more cost-efficiently a CMS can not be.

phpCMS is more than just a content management system - it is a mixture of a template engine, a content management system and an application framework.
phpCMS simplifies a lot of tasks for the maintenance of complex web sites with the automatic updating of the sitemap, the central administration of menu entries, or the provision of a comprehensive text search. And it gives you a good basis to separate layout and form from the actual content of your pages, another big simplification in a webmasters job.

Changes to the layout or of the menu structure have only to be made in one central place and have immediate effect on all web pages. Also the integration of external applications into the layout of your web site is possible - thanks to the possibility of direct integration of PHP scripts, as well as to the Webgrab module (allowing you to integrate almost any application that is addressable via HTTP without depending on the programming language used in that application). Many plug-ins and scripts extend phpCMS by useful functions and features and make the webmasters task easier.

phpCMS is no "drag and drop" web site toolkit, but it helps even the inexperienced HTML author to quickly create a web site.
Contrary to the so-called portal systems, that very often limit you to compose your web site from prefabricated modules only by clicking on check boxes and options, phpCMS offers a flexible framework in which you can integrate existing applications - but on the other hand that demands a bit more skills.

We rather believe in not to integrate everything into the system (forum, web shop, news system, picture gallery, ..., just name it), but to concentrate our work on the phpCMS core system and to make that so flexible that you can integrate the forum, the picture gallery etc. of your own choice with ease into your phpCMS-powered web site.

We are convinced that it is more sensible to offer to the user the possibility to integrate the application in each area that suites her/him best than to offer a system that can do everything, but binds you to applications of our choice, and might not fulfill the users needs or expectations.

SVNManager 0.38

SVNManager 0.38

SVNManager is a webbased tool to administer a Unix Apache WebDAV Subversion repository server. more>>
SVNManager is a webbased tool to administer a Unix Apache WebDAV Subversion repository server.

As stated on their website:

"The goal of the Subversion project is to build a version control system that is a compelling
replacement for CVS in the open source community."

Subversion has matured and our organisation has found more purposes to create Subversion repositories than just for source code. Therefore it seemed nice to me to create a web based Subversion administration suite, with which can help you at:

- Create, remove, load & dump repositories
- Manage user accounts for access to the repositories
- Manage groups for access to the repositories
- Invite users by email to create an account on the server

I hope it can be useful for you and your organization.

Linux Video Studio 0.1.7

Linux Video Studio 0.1.7

Linux Video Studio is a simple/small application to make the capturing of video on MJPEG-hardware CODEC boards easier. more>>
Linux Video Studio is a simple/small application to make the capturing of video on MJPEG-hardware CODEC boards easier.
The application uses the MJPEG-tools, a set of programs to capture video and do lots of things with this. You need to have MJPEG-Tools installed before trying to install Linux Video Studio (also see installation notes) ! Linux Video Studio also uses the Xvideo extension in XFree 4.x to see what youre recording.
But that is not all. I want more than just capturing. My dream is to create one big application that does all the work at once. Not just one application for capturing, one for editing (xlav?), etc. No, my dream is to have one application doing it all. I hope Linux Video Studio can be part of that.
Installation:
You need Gtk to use this application. You also need the MJPEG-Tools installed. Besides that, you now also need an X-server with the Xvideo extension installed (i.e. you need XFree 4.x). In the XF86Config file, add the line Load "v4l" in the modules-section. Next, restart X (you must have the zoran drivers loaded before staring X, or the V4L-module wont work!). For some distros, you might have to install this module first (RedHat 7.0: you need the XFree86-V4L-.... RPM).
From source:
# tar -zxf linuxvideostudio-x.y.z.tar.gz
# cd linuxvideostudio-x.y.z
# ./configure
# make
# make install
From binary RPM:
# rpm --install linuxvideostudio-x.y.z-n.i386.rpm
You can also use GnoRPM or another convenience tool.
From Source RPM:
# rpm --rebuild linuxvideostudio-x.y.z-n.src.rpm
# cd /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/
# rpm --install linuxvideostudio-x.y.z-n.i386.rpm
Enhancements:
- some GList related preferences save bugfixes
- bugfixes where the extension of a file (.mp2, .m1v) precedes the filename, but that path doesnt exist
