KTemperature 1.9-1
KTemperature is an application to monitor the system temperature. more>>
KTemperature is an application to monitor the system temperature. I was motivated to develop this utility because I could not find a simple system tray resident application for monitoring the system temperature using the ACPI interface.
The application obtains the system temperature from the file /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature .
I have been using Linux and Open Source for quite sometime and this is my first contribution. I hope this will lead to many more contributions from me.
Main features:
- Displays temperature in the system tray.
- Auto loading of ACPI thermal module if required and present.
- Detection of ACPI thermal interface if interface is present /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/*
- Right click options of Pause, Restart and Update for greater control of polling with ketboard shortcuts.
- Visually represents the temperature by increasing or decreasing the redness of the system tray icon with change in the temperature.
- The polling frequency can be changed from 1 second to 60 seconds.
- Configurable temperature monitoring interface. If the default monitoring point of /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature is not present the icon displays NA instead of the temperature. The monitoring point can be configured in such cases.
- Persistent configuration. The configuration parameters are stored in a file located at $HOME/.ktemperatue . The file is read at application startup and previously stored values are used. If the application is being run for the first time the default values will be used.
Enhancements:
- Created archive to include version information.
- Added keyboard shortcuts to right click menu options.
- Added caption to root password dialog.

Computer Temperature Monitor is a little applet for the GNOME desktop that shows the temperature of your computer CPU. more>>
Computer Temperature Monitor is a little applet for the GNOME desktop that shows the temperature of your computer CPU and disks on screen. Computer Temperature Monitor also allows you to log temperatures to a file.
You can set alarms to notify you when a tempertature is reached. Several monitors can be added to the panel to monitor different sensors. It is designed to look like the CPU Frequency Gnome applet. This applet used to be called Laptop Temperature Monitor.
Enhancements:
- The way the temperature file is read has been changed to fix a bug in some modules (acpi, ibm_acpi, i8k, and omnibook).
- Support has been added for Apple G5 computers (windfarm sensors).
- Support has been added for dynamic log filenames using patterns.
- A bug that prevented the icon from appearing sometimes has been fixed.
- A GConf key has been added for showing debug information in the applet tooltip.
- A Simplified Chinese translation has been added.
- Support has been added to change the logging timeout.
- There are some bugfixes.

WMtemp 0.0.5
WMtemp is a dockapp that shows CPU and system temperature. more>>
WMtemp is based on code from (WMMemLoad and the sensor code is inspired by WMgtemp).
It displays the CPU temperature and the system temperature in a dockapp, these temperatures are obtained through lm_sensors.
The layout is in line with WMMemLoad and WMCPULoad (and a couple of others).
Enhancements:
- Found out Debian (http://www.debian.org/) has a package and the maintainer has added a manual page, which Ive shamelessly copied. Only the part explaining this package had no manual page is removed, since its no longer true. Thanks to Lars Steinke < lss@debian.org > for maintaining the Debian package.

Tgauge 0.12.1
Tgauge displays lm_sensor readings with gauge-style graphics on GNOME or ROX panels or in a window. more>>
Tgauge displays lm_sensor readings with gauge-style graphics on GNOME or ROX panels or in a window.
Tgauge is a tool for displaying lm_sensors readings. Instead of boring old numbers, tgauge uses graphical representations designed to look like the gauges on a car dashboard. Or anything else if you care to make a theme for it. tgauge stands for temperature gauge because I designed it mainly for monitoring my CPU temperature.
Tgauge can be run in a window, but its really meant for use on a panel; it supports the Gnome (version 2) and ROX panels.
Installation:
Download the appropriate package from the Sourceforge files page. Youll probably need to compile it. For ROX this will happen automatically the first time you run the program from the ROX filer. For Gnome use:
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install
then add the applet to the panel using the menu.

DigiTemp 3.5.0
DigiTemp uses a simple serial port adapter to read temperatures from the Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire DS1820. more>>
DigiTemp uses a simple serial port adapter to read temperatures from the Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire DS1820 digital temperature sensors.
DigiTemp supports the DS9097-U adapter, supports DS2409 based 1-Wire hubs, and features a 1-Wire walk that will display all devices on the LAN, not just temperature sensors.
Enhancements:
- This release combines all the binary releases into a single tar.gz, including Windows binaries compiled with Cygwin.
- It adds DS1923 Hygrochron support, and fixes some small bugs in the userial driver.
- A lockdev bug was fixed (wasnt unlocking when done).
- A crash in free_couplers() was fixed.
- There is better error reporting when trying to access serial ports that dont exist.
- This release is compiled for Windows with Cygwin.
- DS2490/9490 support still doesnt work well for the author, although others have had success with it.
