XHTML Family Tree Generator is a CGI Perl script that will create views of a family tree from a supplied data file. more>>
XHTML Family Tree Generator project is a CGI Perl script together with some Perl modules that will create views of a family tree from a supplied data file. The data file is a simple text or Excel file listing the family members, parents, and other details.
It is possible to show a tree of ancestors and descendants for any person, showing any number of generations. Other facilities are provided for showing email directories, birthday reminders, facehall, and more. It has a simple configuration, makes heavy use of CGI (and other CPAN modules), generates valid XHTML, and has support for Unicode and multiple languages.
Enhancements:
- Italian support was added.

Jet Set Willy X 20061231

Jet Set Willy X 20061231

Jet Set Willy X is a game for Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, playable on emulators. more>>
Jet Set Willy X is a game for Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, playable on emulators. Jet Set Willy X is heavily inspired by Jet Set Willy.
There are no guardians and ropes, but the animation is twice as fast, absolutely smooth, and there is a 2-channel background tune.
The rooms are 20 characters high instead of 16, and can have a more complicated combination of graphics characters. There are 69 rooms and over 390 items to collect.
Differences from Jet Set Willy
- There are no guardians, however there are places where you are probably going to swear even without them.
- The guy walks twice as fast, the animation is smooth 50Hz instead of 25Hz, the guy has twice as much positions and the sprites are a bit different
- There are no ropes
- There is a 2-channel tune instead of 1-channel
- The guy can fall through a 1-character hole
- The rooms are 20 chars high instead of 16
- There are much more available different characters in one room
- The attributes in the room are not used to encode meaning of the characters, they can be set arbitrarily
- What happens after the game is completed is a bit more fun
- The jump looks a bit different
- When the guy enters a room from sideways, he doesnt start 1 character away from the edge, but at the edge
- The kill and collect sounds are different
- The kill and collect events generate an effect in the border
- The main voice of the tune continues playing during the kill or collect sound
- The initial scrolling of text is pixel-smooth
- There are 69 rooms and over 390 items to collect

Arnos IPTABLES Firewall Script 1.8.8i

Arnos IPTABLES Firewall Script 1.8.8i

Arnos IPTABLES firewall script was initially written because I needed to protect my single-homed Linux machine at work. more>>
Arnos IPTABLES firewall script was initially written because I needed to protect my single-homed Linux machine at work. I wrote it at the time I couldnt find any script that really satisfied my needs except for one that was written by a guy called Seven.
I helped him for several months with the work on his script by suppling patches, reporting bugs etc. In this period I was fortunately also able to master scripting for iptables myself because soon Seven discontinued his work, I never got to even talk to the guy ever again. At that point I decided to continue his work, or actually I started my own branch based on his script.
In the summer of 2002 I finally got an ADSL connection at home. Initially I used the iptables firewall that came with the great ADSL4LINUX-package (http://www.adsl4linux.nl). But it didnt take me long to come to the conclusion that their iptables firewall lacked important features like port-forwarding and flexbility with "trusted hosts" etc.
I also didnt like the fact that I had to use a different firewall for my home machine and the machine at work. This made me decide to use some of the ADSL4LINUX knowledge to implement ADSL support.
By now (about 1 year later as of writing) there are only few remnants left of Sevens original script and many, many, many improvements were applied. One major improvement is the ADSL and NAT support (Check the features page with the specifiations of my firewall). For version 2 (alpha) I plan to completely rewrite to script to make it more flexible and to increase the usability for others.
Main features:
- Very secure stateful filtering firewall
- Both kernel 2.4 & 2.6 support
- It can be used for both single- and multi(eg. dual)-homed boxes
- Masquerading (NAT) and SNAT support
- Multiple external (internet) interfaces
- Support multiroute NAT & SNAT (load balancing over multiple (internet) interfaces)
- Port forwarding (NAT)
- Support MAC address filtering
- Support for DSL/ADSL modems
- Support for PPPoE, PPPoA and bridging modem setups
- Support for static and ISP assigned (DHCP) IPs
- Support for (transparent) proxies
- Full support for DMZs and DMZ-2-LAN forwarding. You can also use it to isolate your eg. wireless LAN.
- (Nmap)(stealth) portscan detection
- Protection against SYN-flooding (DoS attacks)
- Protection against ICMP-flooding (DoS attacks)
- Extensive user-definable logging with rate limiting to prevent log flooding
- Includes options to optimize your throughput
- User definable open ports, closed ports, trusted hosts, blocked hosts etc.
- Log & protection options are both highly customizable
- Support for custom iptables rules in a seperate file
- It can be used with chkconfig runlevel system (eg. RedHat/Fedora)
- Main focus on TCP/UDP/ICMP but additional support for *ALL* IP protocols
- It works with Freeswan IPSEC (VPN) & SSH Sentinel (http://www.freeswan.org) (+virtual IPs)
- It works with PoPTop PPTP (http://www.poptop.org)
- It works with UPnP
- DRDOS protection/detection (experimental)
- Its easy to configure
- And much more.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes a nasty bug in the NAT forwarding rules that caused using subnet-source-restrictions not to work.
- It adds an extra rule to the DHCP server section to allow packets from DHCP servers in the same segment.
- There are several plugin updates.
- A Racoon IPSEC VPN plugin and a transparent DNAT plugin have been added.

Sin/Cos calculator

Sin/Cos calculator is a mathematical comand-line calculator.

I was chatting to this guy on IRC who was moaning about his homework. trying to write a program to do this in bash. I said youd be much better off doing it in C, and wrote this. Gave it to him the next day after theyd finished the chapter.

As it does both, theres two executables, it builds main() depending on preprocessor definition... more in the source file.

Compile with:

gcc -lm sin_rule.c -ansi -pedantic -DSINE_RULE -o sin-rule
./sin-rule

FileTraq 0.2

FileTraq 0.2

FileTraq is designed to be run periodically from the root crontab. more>>
FileTraq software is designed to be run periodically from the root crontab. Each time, it compares a list of system files with the copies that it keeps. Any changes are reported in diff or patchfile style, and dated backup copies are kept.
Whats that good for?
Its designed to be an easy way to ensure that no system files are changed
without your knowledge. If youre worried about people breaking in and
changing things without you noticing, or just worried about the other guy
with root on the box changing things and forgetting to tell you, its a good
way to keep tabs on configuration files.
It can even be useful to add some sanity to your own life, by reminding you
when files are changed. If you keep track of the messages you get back from
FileTraq, youll have a rudimentary file history that will allow you to flip
back to see when you changed a certain thing. Dated backups are also kept,
just in case you nuke a file.
Hows it work?
Its just a little shell script that reads a list of files to watch, runs diff
against each file and its backup, and reports any discrepancies, along with
keeping a dated backup of the original.
Is there anything wrong with it?
Right now, it doesnt take care of its backups very well. The dated backups
will accumulate in the backups directory, bounded only by diskspace. If anyone
has an idea for a SIMPLE way to keep backups in check, let me know.
It only handles text files -- this isnt a Tripwire replacement for use with
system binaries. I suppose it could be, though.
FileTraq is not well tested or hardened. It runs as root, but all of its
config files should only be accessible by root. No security holes are known
at this time, but please be careful.
Enhancements:
- a few new features

ABSTRACT

This family of modules helped me move away from Ant to a proper scripting language, namely Perl. With it you can use a single JVM for compiling your java programs. It provides many useful methods to help you build lists of files, package them with jar, etc. Currently the modules are unix centric. If you make them work elsewhere, please send in patches.
