The program is quickly administrated and it is easy to generate an iptables based firewall script.
It has no ROUTER function, but is a personal firewall and it is developed for use behind a router or for direct connections like ppp over ethernet.
jsfirewall uses the program "dialog", you can use it either on the X server or on the console.
Advanced features are built in and you can save or view logging files, tuning the logging and the kernel parameters, save and load, or delete, generated firewall templates.
There is optional support for an additional portrange as the default and you can give one command owner for every chosen port.
Installation:
Unpack the tar ball: tar xzf jsfirewall-0.7.1.tar.gz
cd jsfirewall-0.7.1
Open the file jsfirewall.conf and change the settings if you want (e.g. with vi).
Run ./install.sh in the console.
OPTIONS: install, update, cancel
Enhancements:
- A completly new config section was written.
- You can now edit in the "config" menu directly like in the "global" menu. jsfirewall now supports OpenVPN and can generate an OpenVPN styled firewall script.
- Help can now support all languages.
- All sections of the code were split into scripts.

Streamline 1.7.2

Streamline 1.7.2

Streamline is a high-speed networking subsystem for commodity operating systems. more>>
Streamline is a high-speed networking subsystem for commodity operating systems. It increases performance by moving processing tasks to the fastest location. Streamline supports in-kernel execution, but also dedicated hardware (NICs) and even remote machines. An implementation of Streamline for Linux 2.6.13 and higher is made publicly available.
The goal of Streamline is to make fast network processing viable for common tasks. Many advanced processing schemes so far fail to make it into OSes, because they are difficult to combine with the socket(..) API or only applicable in a few situations. Our goal is to integrate known as well as develop new methods that replace sockets(..). without burdening application developers and end-users. Streamline achieves this by constructing a tailored dataplane for each application at runtime from an extensible set of functions.
Applications request information streams by specifying a series of abstract functions that need to be performed on incoming data (e.g., select tcp packets for port 80, reassemble into a stream, filter out known attacks). At runtime, streamline searches for implementations of these functions. These can be found in the kernel, in the application library, or in dedicated hardware such as programmable network cards or asymmetric multicores. When all functions are found, interconnecting datapaths are setup. Paths may need to cross the PCI bus, userspace/kernelspace barrier or even LANs. Optimisation of these paths is one of the factors that contributes to Streamlines performance.
The base system comes bundled with functions for pattern matching (Aho Corasick, RegEx), accounting, filtering (among others BPF), stream reassembly, rewriting, inspection, and more. Obvious uses are intrusion detection, network address translation, media streaming and realtime (pre)processing of scientific data.
Enhancements:
- This is mostly a stabilization release, which adds support for Linux kernels up to 2.6.22 and Fedora Core installations.
- The only truly new feature is a virtual filesystem interface (like sysfs) to streamline.
- With this "netmonfs" you can inspect live datastreams as if youre reading local files.
- Setting up streams and filters is easily accomplished through mkdir, open, and other well-known tools.
- Note that netmonfs is still beta quality software.

Krystal Drop 0.7.2

Krystal Drop 0.7.2

Krystal Drop is a free clone of NeoGeos Magical Drop. more>>
Krystal Drop project is a free clone of NeoGeos Magical Drop.

In it, you play on a field on which lines of gems are being dropped by the top of the screen, at a regular basis or when your opponent makes a combo. You can take or drop gems from the bottom of the screen to make gems disappear.

If you move gems in order to create a vertical alignment of at least three gems of the same colour, they will burst and start a chain reaction with all neighbouring matching gems.

The aim is to prepare some other chain reactions while the first gems are bursting, in order to make a combo and send lines to your opponent. You lose when some gems reach the bottom of the field.

freesteam is an open source implementation of international-standard steam tables. more>>
freesteam is an open source implementation of international-standard steam tables from the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS).

freesteam lets you compute water and steam properties for a wide range of pressures and temperatures: you can specify the state of the steam in terms of a variety of combinations of known properties, then freesteam will solve and allow you to query to find the values of the unknown properties.

IAPWS-IF97 Industrial formulation (high speed, but complex code)
IAPWS-95 Scientific formulation (low speed, but simple code)

A plug-in to allow freesteam to be used from the EMSO simulation package has been developed; stay tuned for more of these plug-ins.

If you find freesteam useful, or you have some comments, or you think you might be able to help with its development, please contact us.

SLgtk package binds the GIMP Toolkit, also known as Gtk, to the S-Lang scripting language. more>>
SLgtk package binds the GIMP Toolkit, also known as Gtk, to the S-Lang scripting language. This application was created with the SLIRP code generator, and provides an importable module which makes most of Gtk and its constituent libraries callable directly from S-Lang scripts.
With SLgtk the S-Lang programmer now has access to a powerful, cross-platform widget set for creating sophisticated graphical user interfaces (GUIs). The package also includes bindings to GtkExtra, which are used in the vwhere visualization and filtering guilet, as well as a gdk-pixbuf loader for the FITS image file format widely used within astronomy, and an easy-to-use but powerful image compositing, display, and output tool.
Enhancements:
VWhere 1.3.9:
- When a vector is passed with the & operator VWhere will reflect the proper variable name in the Axis Expression window, instead of assigning the less-meaningful "arrayN".
imdisplay 0.3.4:
- new "panes" option added, to support display of multiple images using either horizontal or vertical tiling
- multiple animations may now be displayed, and even commingled alongside static images
- fill rule may now be specified in an option string, and now defaults to "scale" instead of "none"
- imdisplay_defaults() function added, for option persistence
- 1D images which can be reshaped to NxN are now accepted
changed S-Lang semantics of C Gdk function void gdk_window_get_frame_extents(GdkWindow, &GdkRectangle) to GdkRectantle gdk_window_get_frame_extents(GdkWindow)
- more sophisticated placement/reparenting strategies for win chaining
- rgbwidget version 0.3.0, which adds POW scaling and version info

tvmet 1.7.2

tvmet 1.7.2

tvmet is a Vector and Matrix template library uses Meta Templates and Expression Templates to evaluate results at compile time. more>>
tvmet is a Vector and Matrix template library that uses Meta Templates and Expression Templates (ET) to evaluate results at compile time, thus making it fast for low-end systems.
Temporaries are avoided because of this. The produced code is similar to hand-coded code, but the quality of the code still depends on the compiler and its version. The dimensions for vectors and matrices are static and bounded at compile time using template arguments.
Main features:
- Matrices and Vectors with fixed sizes (of course), the data is stored in a static array.
- compile time dimension check for Vectors and Matrices to preserve the mathematical meaning.
- vector, matrix, matrix-matrix and matrix-vector fast operations:
- complete set of standard arithmetic operations for Vectors and Matrices (blitz++ supports this only for TinyVector).
- complete set of standard compare operations for Vectors and Matrices as well as ternary functions like a ? b : c (see eval for use).
- binary and unary operations.
- meta template use for Matrix-Matrix-Product $M,M$, Matrix-Transpose $M^T$ and Matrix-Vector-Product $M,x$ functions and operators.
- meta template for special functions like $M^T, x$, $M^T,M$, $M,M^T$ and $(M,M)^T$ functions, see ... special Meta-Template Functions.
- simple Matrix rows and column access as a Vector.
- chaining of matrix and vector expressions is possible and working.
- Vector inner and outer product (dot and cross product).
- special handling for the aliasing problem - see ... about aliasing.
- STL iterator interface. This opens the door to all sorts of great STL applications.
- type promotion (for handling Matrices and Vectors of differing types).
- works on self defined types such as the std::complex type.
- makes no use of exceptions. Therefore you can use it for embedded systems or in Linux kernel space.
- nice expression level printing for debugging purposes (print the expanded expression tree).
- good documentation with examples.
- regression tests for nearly all operations and functions.
- support for several compilers (see Compiler Support).
- written as a pure class and template library, no binary libraries and versioning are needed - designed to avoid code blot due to the use of templates.
- ISO/IEC 14882:1998 compliant.

Appleseed 0.7.2

Appleseed 0.7.2

Appleseed is a social networking software, similar to Friendster or Myspace. more>>
Appleseed project is an effort to create open source Social Networking software that is based on a distributed model. For instance, a profile on one Appleseed website could "friend" a profile on another Appleseed website, and the two profiles could interact with each other.

Apart from being distributed, Appleseed will also have a strong focus on privacy and security, as well as a commitment to seeing the user as an online citizen, as opposed to a consumer to be targetted. This is in stark contrast to current social networking websites, who rely heavily on ad placement and data mining of their users.

The first goal is to create a codebase for basic interaction, such as creating profiles, creating and participating in message groups, journals and comments, etc.

Eventually, Appleseed will encompass many different aspects, from mail to messaging to journals/blogs to photo uploads and management. A module architecture is also in the works for even greater extensibility.

Development currently uses Object Oriented PHP4, MySQL (InnoDB), XHTML, Javascript, and CSS2. Mozilla/Firefox will be the target platform.
